Capital
Coming from a small village, it was pretty uncommon to hear people discuss things like wealth, assets, capital etc growing up.
It was very strange and unsettling when I met teens from Mumbai. Many of them seemed miles ahead in their business vocabulary and had a strong sense of business more than most of the "biz men" I knew back home.
Overtime during those later years in college, I did get a more fundamental grasp over these terms and could make some shared sense of meaning to understand the business world a bit better.
Capital is the one I have a semi-antagonistic relationship with. Because its so broad and never so clear.
Often I've heard this thrown around;
- You need capital to build businesses
- You need to deploy capital to get work done
- You need capital to get more capital
Bleh. Bleh. Bleh. Words words words.
Capital is a broad umbrella term to group something that is considered valuable to the owner.
If something someone has, has value. It is capital.
Unfortunately I think the business world loves to convince it self that the world operates on this terms but if you interact with anyone who's the last chain in a business operation they will likely not know what these
Anyways, something to think about eh? Whats your capital?
Ps. The word business itself sounds boring. Deep down, deep deep down in the controversial nook where I live with a tinfoil hat I believe there to be a secret cult that dictates what words will be popular.
