It's time to code howtotip.me
For the last month or so, I have been sitting on coding up a weekend project to launch for my next "startup" or web app. Whatever it is. I have been procrastinating, again.
The idea is simple. It's a read-only portal for all of my wallets. Google Pay, Venmo, Paypal, Cash App, Strike, and many more.
I took my kids to see Paw Patrol live this weekend. The street vendor selling $20 stuff Paw Patrol toys was the validation that I needed. A guy walked up to him and said: "Do you take Venmo?" and the vendor said: "Paypal, Venmo, Zelle, and Google Pay." The customer said "Wow!" And the vendor replied: "You gotta take all of em."
That's right. There are many options and there isn't a single application that puts all of them on a page. Furthermore, they each have their own URL and signature so it's not like I could say find me @ "Ted Price" on all of these apps.
So my application: howtotip.me is a way to consolidate all of the pay URLs under a single easy to remember link. Furthermore, I display the QR codes for each of these, as well as a "Pay" button. This will allow anyone to set up multiple read-only/receive-only wallets and either display the QR codes on their personal phones or, if it's say a bellhop, the bellhop can give the link to a customer for a pay-later option.
Every time I have coded a web app, I wait until it's completely polished and then, after 2 years of coding, I put it out for public consumption. I am too exhausted to market and hustle. To afraid to take feedback.
This time is different. Spend 10% of the time coding, 90% hustling.
