Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
Species, amongst other things, are defined by their niche. The environment they interact with defines the trajectory of their evolution. You notice a tradeoff between specialization and flexible adaptability. Typically, to dominate a particular niche, a species must specialize. The Environment Confines and Refines.…
Modern life makes us hyperfixated on the destination. Get into a top college, get a job by 22, marry by 30 etc etc. Drilling into our heads that the destination is what it is, whereas if you take a step back, you'll realise that destination is largely irrelevant except for a specific reason, the destination helps us…
when it feels like it’s not going to work out when you think you’ve exhausted all your options when it feels like the end of the road you have a decision to make keep going or move on but no matter what choice you make you’ve gotta remember this none of it was a waste of energy there’s a lesson in everything you did…
Who are we? What defines us? Who are you looking at when you look in the mirror every day? "To be or not to be" is a quote by Shakespeare that has been reused for decades. Let's talk about "Not to be". We are complex creatures with a nuanced way of social and personal interactions. All these interactions define us.…
I prefer packing last minute. It has helped me pack better and not forget the essential items. But this preference is in stark contrast with that of my parents. My mum packs about 2-3 days in advance, and my dad at least the day prior. My preference started changing when I began traveling without my parents. At first,…
I had another heavy conversation with my mom today. I’ve noticed she often has these outpouring sessions ever so periodically where she shares her pain and hurtful past incidents with me. 1. I’ve noticed a lot of repetition in the stories she narrates and I believe these are unresolved issues and conflicts that she…
Regardless of what you're doing or wanting to do. Everything that you can do that's relevant and has chance to be impactful has one thing in common. That commonality is something you can see behind every successful author, musician, artist, entrepreneur, etc. And I'm not referring to putting in the work and getting…
ahh i have been revisiting a series of photographs called 'metaphors' by Ettore Sottsass Jr. each photograph would prompt the viewer to challenge how they view architecture. my favorite is titled 'Virtual Architecture'; a physical space made to represent a digital space. the concept hints to our physical limitation…
I had no plans of watching this KDrama, but I like the lead actors and was curious about the plot. I am SO GLAD I started watching it. The premise is novel - centred around traveling to and fro work and how it wears one out. I am always awed by how Korean writers can think up such scenarios and plots and give us…
I'm writing this while waiting at the entrance of Tata Memorial Hospital, Bombay. I'm here to accompany my uncle for his cancer treatment. This Nicheless post has no purpose. It's just a stream of consciousness from the perspective of a person in an unfamiliar situation. Hospitals are a sobering place to spend time…
It will seem quite ironic - on a platform which is literally titled 'nichless blog', I am writing on a very specific niche - the trials and tribulations of a law firm associate. When you think about the life corporate lawyers lead, you either imagine them cribbing about how their immense work pressure, or you think…
Authority, like a vector, has two properties: magnitude and direction. The magnitude of authority is proportional to the limits on individual freedom. The magnitude may range from anarchy to totalitarianism (chaos / order). All viable regimes fall somewhere between these idealized states. The ideal magnitude of…
Well started writing here as I got infected with mumps 😩. Who gets mumps at middle age? Have been on leave for three days. It also happens to be my wife's neice's birthday. Her 20th one. She had a good day. Lots of gifts and 4 cakes. Happy to have started writing here. Lets see where it takes. While I have personal…
News update: I get a call from Shoo that she is now dating someone new. That person happens to be Nelson. My reaction 1: I am not surprised, kinda saw this coming, don't worry, I'm not mad. My reaction 2: My best friend is dating someone I have had bad experiences with. What do I do? I had a call with Nelson. That…
In Biology WBC stands for White Blood Cells and RBC stands for Red Blood cells , but this is not about biology . This is about a game , a game of football to be precise , where two brilliant teams went all out for the prestigious champions league trophy . On may 28th , the UEFA Champions League final was played in…
Until recently, the idea of relapsing never crossed my mind, and I used to dismiss it as an exaggeration. In my judgmental mindset, I couldn't understand why people couldn't just change for good if they truly wanted to. However, my perspective took a significant turn just a week ago. As I mentioned earlier, I embarked…
At least when it comes to new forms of social media. Kinda crazy that there are still less than 2000 accounts on this site right now. I guess we will see if it lasts. I'll try to give some random updates from time to time.
A movie is like a person. Not everyone likes any one person. Not everyone understands that person. But there are always people who love that person despite all his inherent flaws and understands why he is the way he is and accept it all. That is enough for that one person.
and we are standing there match in each hand in a room full of petrol pretending not to notice the air shimmering in a quiet resonance something we’ve seen before fairy-tale tangled in ‘what ifs’ scared of bruising whilst knowing exactly one wrong move and the place is ashes and dust
I had downloaded the book on the formation of Trilegal early June and finally finished it on June 25th, 2026. The acknowledgements lead me to this website. What a delight! I had met Sawant Singh during a due diligence that Standard Chartered was conducting for the acquisition of the NPA portfolio of IFCI Bank. About…
For years, I spent my Saturday morning grocery shopping for the week. My workweek routine drove my weekend routine. Now I’m retired. I’m very routine-driven. I would need to prepare my list early. This required a change in thinking. I saw an advantage. If my granddaughter came to spend the night, grocery shopping…
These last 600 days have been the most toughest period of my entire life. I have cried my eyes out, felt miserable, sat like furniture for days on end & contemplated committing suicide. This all happened around my folks at home, never did they ever came up to me ask : what is brewing ? how am I feeling ? how can they…
A ex-Google engineer name Blake Lemoine was fired for falsely asserting that an "AI" chat bot called LaMDA was sentient. It made for good headlines, with plenty of interesting comments from armchair experts. Here's another hot take. When the time finally comes, how can we determine if a computer is intelligent? Or…
Approach life fast as possible - applies the same how you approach SUDOKU... So here's the thing I want to tell to my 27 self There's nothing much better than being a player and acting in the game of life rather than being a side character! You want to be a main as much as possible. So act like one! One trait that…
You started to feel anxious because You are comparing yourself to your friends subconsciously Your brain tells you and giving you signals that you didn’t know “Preparing yourself” don’t mean you need to putting yourself into stressful situations It just means adjusting your mindset That given certain situations - what…
i zoned out at the table again and for a while you didn’t say anything but then like a gentle tug, realigning my orbit when the disassociation dissipates, you anchor; “are you alright?” and it echoes then and now, in my own head, like a muffled drum “are you alright?”
Do I have to go about life the way I thought I was supposed to? Do I have to be the person I've been told that I am - that I've been convinced that I am? Is there another way to be? To live? Am I allowed to do that? Writing it down makes these questions sound absurd. When did we start pigeonholing ourselves into these…
Whenever you say something, my ears take the words right out of your mouth
today i cannot keep myself from not publishing something. i have some ideas for a blogpost in my notes app, but they require research and thorough input. so i have decided to write and publish whatever comes to my mind. co-incidently today is also the day i picked up a fresh notebook and wrote my journal entry after a…
It’s kinda a different feeling living without social media. It wouldn’t be this way if I hadn’t tried it for years. All my adult life was spent before a screen waiting for approval. Now I just sit in front of it.
pronounced: "eye" or "I" which Google just told me is pronounced "ai." waow, that one really came full circle on its own, didn't it? stands for: Artist employment initiative wut it is: a collaborative effort with Kind AI )you know the one)s( better than Ʌei do, I'd imagine, anon( to provide funding for individual…
Crazy thought -- I know -- but what if much of what ails this world could be fixed simply by finding the right place for people to fit? Now, I know I'm CrAaAzY but maybe -- just maybe -- that's because sanity is defined by the contrast of perspective; what is sane to you is insane to me, and so forth. "Well, WE are…
Back from spending time with "family" - not blood, but "adopted". had to drag myself out a bit to get there, but had a thoroughly good time with them, some of whom I hadn't seen in person for several years. It can be nice to have non-family family around. No word from my buddy, but then again, for all his faults and…
i chose this topic because this was the recent one i came across. I really do have a big question as to why the dresses made in the met gala are so not normal and not wearable by the normal people like you and me. If something should be encouraged it should have a meaning behind it i can't see what good does it…
In the foggy winter of 2011, my father constantly nudged me towards a tennis class, just two blocks from home. He was concerned for my fitness, as I had, for over three years, preferred the digital companionship of my PSP over evenings outside with neighborhood friends. A crisp, filled-out form for Penguin School's…
The question of whether AI will make writers obsolete is a complex one. We can't predict the future, but it is clear that AI will change what it means to be a writer. In a recent workshop, Dan Shipper pointed out that 150 years ago, good penmanship was essential because everything had to be done by hand. Today, doing…
Being okay with not being okay. Contradiction? Kinda. Really it’s different layers. Maybe you’re not okay at one level, but if the higher level is okay with it, then on the whole, you’ll feel okay. Maybe your bank account is zero. Is that a problem? Yes of course, but an equally correct answer is: Only if you treat it…
I enjoy taking photos but don't take enough. I was chuffed to capture this image while investigating an old ship wreck with my niece and her father at our favourite beach. The photo is of my niece and her father as they approached the wreck. I had decided to stay back in the shallow as I considered going any further…
Comportado, bonito e brilhante. Estávamos todos…
if i had infinite money i would be so happy. and i wouldn't even buy anything extravagant i have literally no need for it. i would just live the way i do forever but not worry about money. there are people who would wanna work even if they didn't have to. not. me. i dont wanna work. i just wanna read, write, relax,…
I have successfully wasted 1.5 hours browsing random af videos and reels on youtube. I really struggle to figure out the power of these videos! What is it in them that allows us to just be so hooked to them? I am increasingly feeling excess cringe and also annoyed at the type of content that is "designed to trend" on…
There is something so fulfilling about hiking and something attractive to it that makes you come back to it, after all the pain and tiredness that it caused. Hiking gives me time to breathe, think and look around, it's an activity that has grown into me. For some people getting to the top gives them the achievement…
i think sheila heti is actually somewhat mainstream despite being indie in style but tao lin is still fully indie despite being published in Vice just because like i think sheila heti is spreading a mainstream message [in a groundbreaking way] but tao lin is spreading a somewhat indie message ["somewhat" meaning a…
Just like your cleansing schedule - it’ll take hours to do. However if you have the “do-it” mentality: you’ll reach there no matter what, you’ll get better once you start to do it everyday Just get started first Always have an end goal in mind. Then set a timeline First principles Like why you wanted to do it You have…
I know everyone's suddenly excited about crypto again now Bitcoin has posted new ATHs and Meme Coins are making people millionaires again. I did OK in the last bull cycle, but feel like I need to keep myself more disciplined this time around, to hold myself more to account and make smarter decisions. To do this, I…
All great people have gone through hell. All great individuals have endured their share of challenges. In our world, where we constantly compare ourselves through the touch of our phones, we've forgotten the effort it takes to achieve what we see on our screens. History repeatedly demonstrates that life consists of a…
...sometimes. Unless half the city is tryna go where you’re going and the traffic is insane. To which I say, adventure is not out there. Pls hang up and try again tmrw.
