The photo moment
I enjoy taking photos but don't take enough. I was chuffed to capture this image while investigating an old ship wreck with my niece and her father at our favourite beach.
The photo is of my niece and her father as they approached the wreck. I had decided to stay back in the shallow as I considered going any further unsafe for both my niece and our dog Levi.
The photo was not planned and happened in the moment. As my niece Anna and her father Corne got closer to the wreck, I noticed that their silhouettes matched that of the wreck. I also noticed that the position of the sun was creating an interesting pattern to the left of their silhouette and causing the colour tones to have a naturally striking contrast.
"This would make a great photo or painting" I thought to myself! I reached for my iPhone in my pocket, it had power! phew! I fumbled around for the camera app, I then took 5 or so images with the camera no filter. This image is my favourite of the 5.
Capturing this image reminded me how much I enjoy taking photos. I also reflected on why I do not take as many photos as I would like. The conclusion? I think it has been a mixture of thinking every photo must be shared and not always having a camera device at the ready!
This photo has inspired me to get in to the habit of taking photos and to be ready for the photo moment!
