Book on Trilegal & Being 18
I had downloaded the book on the formation of Trilegal early June and finally finished it on June 25th, 2026. The acknowledgements lead me to this website. What a delight! I had met Sawant Singh during a due diligence that Standard Chartered was conducting for the acquisition of the NPA portfolio of IFCI Bank. About 20+ of us, holed up in a room in Nehru Center, New Delhi. DDs can be intense and working with stakeholders from different backgrounds gives us a sneak peak into what makes each of us unique. My path with Sawant once again crossed in 2017 and then with Nikhil in 2020. I was intrigued that one of the founders had actually written a book and thought would give it a quick read. The fact that it turned out to be fairly riveting in itself was quite an eye opener.
It takes courage to document a professional journey of 25 years. The ups and downs of working in India closely mirrored my own experience of 25 years given I started my own professional journey in India around the same time - circa 2004, preceded by my MBA in 2002 and going through major life experiences in 2000.
Why is 25 and multiples there of a key number for so many adults? Hindu rites of passage divide 100 years into four phases. Reflecting on this at 52, it broadly makes sense and ties with my own belief of always trying to do age appropriate things. So when a 18 year old comes to me for advice, in addition to diving into things about school, college, I also touch upon the importance of hanging out with other 18 year olds and doing ''silly'' things. No such thing as too much partying when you are 18!
