Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
Sometimes, I find myself self-critical over my apparent lack of focus, worrying that my broad range of interests doesn't get me anywhere. "Business Idea Factory" by Andrii Sedniev has helped me see the value in my widespread curiosity. The book highlights that exposure to diverse experiences is not just beneficial but…
A movie is like a person. Not everyone likes any one person. Not everyone understands that person. But there are always people who love that person despite all his inherent flaws and understands why he is the way he is and accept it all. That is enough for that one person.
I have never been a ferocious writer. There are many things I want to write but I feel somehow good vocabulary and ability to express myself in as simple and few a words has always eluded me. However, in this post, my goal is to just write. There may not be a specific topic or goal that I write about. Just some random…
These areas may be stand-alone, aligned, interplay, or coalesced with others and represent how I show up in the world. What I choose to do (and not do) is rooted in how I identify the external world in context of my values and strengths. --- R|CAT (Resource Catalysts) aka FLYWHEEL role: CONSULTANT ... business owner…
I'm an introvert with no sense of how to mingle socially. It becomes incredibly awkward in social settings but not on social virtual settings. This is where I thrive. This is where I talk. This is where I consume. This is home.
Eventually, it's a world of one. I don't mean this in a nihilistic, pessimistic, or even a narcissistic way. I just mean that eventually, it's a world of one. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it does give me the occasional existential crisis. Now that I'm starting a venture of my own, I'm more empathetic…
The internet has given rise to a new genre of humorous content and I personally love it! The ones I find particularly amusing are around wine and comparing it to life. ''Yoga Class? I thought you said Pour a Glass''. You get the drift. When did wine become such an ubiquitous part of corporate lore? I for one of course…
i used to think that i am a programmer. i have friends who think they are programmers or designers or editors or traders etc, and i don't think that's a great way to describe yourself. i think a better way to describe yourself is to say that you are a problem solver, and i don't mean go be an entrepreneur, just think…
"What do you think about the Rolex Daytona?", asked my friend. "It's great but I am an Omega person", I replied. "The model in the new 007 movie is truly a piece of art". "It sure is. What do you think about the grey Tom Ford suit Daniel Craig wore in the movie?", I asked. "I think the blue one was better. You should…
Time feels right to get my will paperwork in order. Did up my list of "who gets how much". Still have to mull end of life issues, and won't put it off forever, but nothing pressing right yet. Felt good last night being part of a family of choice. Wondering why I'm still hesitant about taking the big trip in September.…
♫ so baby,…
Questioning the notion of free will seems to be in fashion nowadays. So what is this idea of "free will?" I think a lot of us have an intuitive sense of what it is. It's the idea that our personal sense of agency or identity is what originates our actions. Who does what we do? Well, we do. If you're out for a walk…
The same scary thought haunts me It could be the brightest day or the coldest dark night The same thought haunts me It's something I've lived with for years It pops up in my dreams, my daydreams It creeps up on me when I least expect it The same thought haunts me "Why me?" We all have our own version of "why me?" Yet…
The simultaneity of continuity and change is one of the greatest paradoxes that shapes the way we lead our lives. Humanity has more or less perfected the art of passing down elements unique to cultures across generations. Culture ensures we carry the useful things forward with us. Things that aren't get changed. While…
Another one from The Underground Press: === anon8858 The official date and location for the upcoming public appearance of General Federico Rodriguez were announced this morning. As usual, we expect the government to use a lot of acarreados to simulate a massive turnout. After two years of hiding from the public, we…
Crowds are scary when you're in them. I love watching crowds from afar. Trying to track one single person through this swarm is some form of amusement I enjoy. It gives me the same rush as I imagine someone who enjoys doing crosswords would chase. I used to do this with ants too. When I was a kid and banned from…
I love the phrase "I'm so lucky." No matter the circumstances, every time I say, "I'm so lucky," I find countless positive things in a day, no matter what happens. Our van door fell off, we had the worst food ever, or I had a headache. But on those same days, we drove through Scotland, stayed in front of beautiful…
As a new year's resolution this year, I would like to write a book. Nothing too complicated, something small that helps software engineers learn to make homemade ramen from scratch. I'd love to package what I know into something I can hand friends when they're in a funk, eating too much processed food, and spending…
‘Indian Matchmaking’ and ‘A Suitable Girl’ have much in common: producer Smriti Mundhra, match-maker Sima Taparia, and an overwhelming display of complex but problematic routines and notions around arranged marriage. Yet, one is cringe (but binge-worthy), while the other is deeply unsettling. The difference in…
There are thousands of self-help books, videos, and podcasts giving me tips on how to be more productive and get more work done. While most of that is bullshit and not really actionable, there are sometimes good pieces of advice that actually make sense and can be applied effectively. However, most of this advice only…
A learning from recent experience. It’s natural to feel a rush of excitement when we meet someone we deeply admire, whether they are celebrities, industry leaders, or personal heroes. But putting them on a pedestal completely blocks the path to genuine connections. True connections are built on mutual respect and…
Treat your environment like a high school, you will graduate, accept their diploma, walk across their stage, and finally throw your square hat in the air. Treat your environment like a laboratory and you will own creations and potions, but keep it clean or explosions can happen. Treat your environment like a garden…
https://winnielim.org/journal/where-i-can-take-off-my-mask/ This one feels so like my life except I didn't have that social medium to share things up until now. Really thinking of making this place my own. Hope I can stay consistent with it.
A well known meme claims that Eskimo-Aleut languages have a hundred words for snow. Scholars question this, saying that these languages are polysynthetic, in which bigger words are composed of smaller parts and employ suffixes, or postbases. This makes it appear that there are more unique words than actually exist.…
you thought there would be more monarchs at the end -- and perhaps there are, far too far above to see -- here, in this wasteland of husks and maggots. how many times have you circled back around to the same point in life? all these useless rotations; little changes for a hopefool. not [ ] enough, each time. it's…
Tô lendo os anos, da Ernaux certo? Não sei se já falei aqui. Não lembro. Pois bem. Tô sempre me surpreendendo como que eu consigo me identificar com ela, uma mulher escrevendo sobre os anos 60. Como muito e, ao mesmo tempo, tão pouco mudou. Ela falando que quando volta nas folgas da universidade pra visitar a família…
Urmi came to Vizag to meet Venky and I. We have talked so much that we have completely exhausted ourselves. It’s fun and nice though. I really like the conversations we can have. I know this may not be a group that meets often, but I hope we’ll meet at least some times. Few important takeaways: The 2 components of a…
Being an introvert is not often a bad thing, especially in later stages in life. It becomes arduous to find people you can relate to and be comfortable around. It is either because everyone changes from being naive. Or it is because we just happen to interact with a lot more people to which we aren't habituated.…
One thing I hope to use this medium for is getting the phone out of my hand so much. Do. Do. Do. That's what I want. To do. But instead, I scroll. Incessantly. For some reason I feel like something miraculous is just around the next flip of the thumb. Sometimes, yes, something interesting does come up, but rarely is…
Of course it's been pointed out with increasing frequency of late, but I believe it bears repeating. This addiction to seeking out the comfort of the likeminded to the exclusivity of all others and recoiling from the sheer audacity of differently-minded people to exist cannot possibly lead to anything good in the long…
The difference you can obviously think is conservative. But what does conservative means? It also means that they are more opened to new ideas and the problem with Asian thinking is it’s way too conservative. That there’s a certain system or rule to follow; which might not be real That you can date as many as you like…
How many social media websites will it take for us to stop feeling lonely? It's so easy to like an instagram post, to make a tweet, to add friends on facebook. So easy to feel interesting, admired, validated. We continue to cast our nets into the abyss to find more people like us, mistaking validation for finding a…
When I was a kid, when guests come home, I would be so painfully shy, to go and just lock myself in the other room. I couldn't understand why my parents were angry and upset with my behaviour, i just liked to be by myself. My son does the same thing what I was as a child, when guests come, he runs away of recedes into…
I woke up this morning trying to crack a problem I'd been thinking about: how can I test if my router supports PPPoE without a PPPoE server on the other end? A bit of googling and I discovered rp-pppoe, a userspace PPPoE server for Linux, written and maintained by Dianne Skoll. "What's the rp for?" I wondered. Roaring…
Be so harsh on yourself Just keep doing the same things you did Don’t overthink thinking that they are talking about Rolex, fashion, or any materialistic topics & you have to join them. If you don’t know then just try to know rather than acting like you know Rather than focusing on the non have - why don’t try to…
First day of my break. I quit my wonderful job in Fin-Tech a few months back and have finally transitioned out of all my responsibilities. I woke up this morning with a smile on my face. So grateful that I can afford this, that I have savings enough to not be anxious about this break. Despite that, I do get a little…
If you’re starting a journaling habit, there’s no reason to write deep thoughts. You need to concentrate on the habit you’re creating. You want to be consistent at the same time each day. It doesn’t even matter what you are journaling. It matters that you are journaling. Making your journaling habit easy to complete…
I take things too personally. When someone tells me they don't like my photos, my brain says, "I'm such a bad photographer." When someone says, "Your outfit is so plain today," my brain says, "I have no style, I look ugly." When someone points out a pimple, my brain says, "I AM UGLY." Something happened today that…
Coming home to a refreshing pool, a beautiful sunset, a delicious BBQ dinner, surrounded by loving parents feels like paradise. I‘m so lucky.
i don't mean ibuprofen i mean weed i realized that weed restored back to me a positivity and practical intelligence and life force and "i can do this" that i had lost due to my hypersensitivity and awareness of the general shittiness of average people before books saved my life, weed threw me a flotation device.
We just escaped from the loud club. We had just celebrated your birthday there but it wasn’t your environment. Apparently you once lived a party life, but I hadn’t seen that side of yours, you had put all that behind you. Our drunk friends took an auto. We decided to walk it. I was sober enough, I am fucked up on the…
One of the most startling aspects of becoming a father is how that experience somehow heightens every emotion in life. The highs are much higher than pre-fatherhood, while lows are more difficult to accept. In some ways, there is plenty to learn when you become a new father. First, that 'newness' never leaves.…
I think some way or other people are connected. they always stay connected maybe not physically maybe not socially and even not mentally but you just have the instinct in you that you miss this person but somehow you have this gut feeling of what they have been doing or if something serious takes place in their life.…
O título do texto anterior ficou estranho.
You’re having a problem staying consistent with your new journaling habit. You just proved you're human. You are one among millions. "Look," my husband points to a man writing in a journal. We are waiting for our flight. "He writes in a journal like you." Except I have not written in my journal today. Journaling is a…
My earliest memory of paperwork was the annual trip to National Book Center to buy brown paper which I would use to cover our text and note books. Then the beautiful letters that my Grandparents would write from New Delhi or the ones that my Masi would write from Boston. Also, the special note pad that my Father had…
1) Humans have a tendency to be drawn to binary distinctions. Whether you draw the divide between parties (R/D), or political inclinations (liberal / conservative), or population density (urban / rural), or social class (elite / deplorable), every distinction can ultimately be reduced to us vs. them. This primordial…
