Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
Where is home? Where does one belong? This may be a simple question to answer for those who have lived in the same place all their lives. But what about those of us who have hopped, skipped and jumped to new places looking for new adventures? Where is home for those who have chosen to wander? For some, home is what…
Coming home to a refreshing pool, a beautiful sunset, a delicious BBQ dinner, surrounded by loving parents feels like paradise. I‘m so lucky.
One receives a phone call at 7.30 in the morning. An excited and almost tear jerked voice says they’ve hit water at 32 feet. The borewells in the region are at 780 feet. I can hear the joy in the voice with a slight surprise which is veiled by relief. The city coughs its dry spell in exploited ground waters and lack…
Today was an intense day full of business strategy work - thinking big, maximizing impact, market analysis, etc. Networking, research, meetings, and repeat. However, my personal highlight of the day occurred in the night, on my way back from the gym. The streets were empty, the air was fresh and there was a slight fog…
I hope this is free and online forever because you know we've been burned many times. And we never got rich from all the time we spent on the Internet.
I reached for a jar on a shelf and this happened. Lots of things are breaking down around me, and now I see what God is doing. His pattern is to break things before he builds them into something newer + better. That’s exactly what’s happening in my life right now. Things are breaking down left and right, because he…
Sean Strickland has shocked the world. Last night he became the new UFC Middleweight Champion of the World by beating Israel Adesanya in Sydney, Australia. Both fighters are quite the characters with totally different fighting styles. Strickland stuck to his guns and damn near ended the fight in the first round with a…
i have been yearning to see you. It's been a while, i search for you everywhere. airports, flights, streets, restaurants, monuments. i know tears will run down my cheeks when i see you. i want to give you a big hug. and that's the dream you took away from me you came to campus. you saw me. you didn't say hi. we spoke…
It’s Saturday. I should be grading homework and unit assignments. I have a master’s portfolio proposal to write (separate, apparently, from the actual master's thesis I wrote last semester). I have grad school homework to do. Instead, I’m on the couch. My youngest child has his legs draped over mine; he’ll follow me…
The optimal number of imperfections in a city is not zero. I just spent 24 hours in Lima, and I think it comes pretty close to finding the right balance between organisation and chaos. Combine that with a friendly people, an incredible cliff-edged coastline and world class cuisine, and you've got yourself a city you…
This morning I read a timely article by one of my favorite writers and thinkers, Derek Thompson (@DKThomp on Twitter). It was titled, "Your Career Is Just One-Eighth of Your Life" and it got me thinking (as his writing and podcasts usually do). I spend a lot... A LOT... of time thinking about this one-eighth of my…
I don't really have much to write for today, so let me see: 1. Mehul's birthday party: I spent 15 minutes trying to get a unruly bunch of teenagers to play darts. It wasn't as annoying as i thought it would be, though. I pretty much jumped into auto-pilot mood of needing to take-charge 2. Pitch night by Build: I…
There's a sickening feeling of being surrounded by darkness. What feels like an everlasting doom consuming your peripherals. You're trapped, maybe not physically, but mentally, or both. If, one stands in place, that place becomes your home. A home that echoes into the voids of your mind driving you insane. The purpose…
I do like the restraint. I do enjoy the anonymity. I do love writing. Think I’ll stay and play a while.
Today I have improved a lot. I had a totally different mindset, full sage mode – open, curious, positive, creative, empathetic – and it’s crazy how others picked up on it and mirrored it. I participated in many of the sessions, communicated openly about what I needed and wanted, and simply talked to the others instead…
what is self doubt and why does it matter? self doubt is not believing in yourself, not trusting your gut. you could be the most talented person on earth and not know it because you don't give yourself the chance . . how do we fix self doubt? - get yourself out there and experience - be active get some reps in - find…
Doomscrolling is a lot like venture capital. You spend countless hours on it, most return nothing. But once in a while, a single post returns the entire fund. Last night, I hit one of those rare jackpots. It was a painfully obvious observation made by a writer I had never heard of. Three dots, sitting in plain sight…
Stop telling people to play tennis with a bat If we’re playing tennis, and I say I’d rather play baseball, you’d think I was insane if I brought out a bat and starting trying to whack the ball out of the court. Same argument applies here: - “He thinks taxes on the rich should be higher, but he paid zero tax last year.…
Giving a hand to those who need it without expecting anything creates a domino effect of people that want to help you. A week ago I thought I was gonna be left alone is this country with no one to go to when Im struggling, I was anxious about it, specially because I had to move my bed up 4 floors. During this week, 3…
Enfim, seguimos.…
Well, not literally. What I mean is, the obsession brands had with a 'logo that pops', has now shifted to 'having a community'. With a logo, at least we were all on the same page about what it meant. With a brand community, it's essential to understand what it means and what you need in your brand before you can start…
Hello, self! You're receiving this email because uhm, you subscribed to yourself. I think Louis is onto something here, and I hope it catches on. I just find that welcome message a tad funny. "Subscribe to yourself to receive your messages!" At least I know someone will read it later. Writing anonymously does give…
Learnt smtg from Bryan - age really don’t matter What matters is the level of thinking and what do you think Your way of dealing with people The worst and dumb people is not working and worry this and that Meanwhile the most cleverest is just live in the moment and work the best In no matter what situation He’ll be…
Being good at small talk is to be present at the moment. Being good at job or work is to move fast or reply instantly and tackle the problem without any wait. You can see based on people’s reply speed… those who reply slow are tend to have lower work capabilities (because they think replying is hard, they choose to…
There lived a man in southern Spain He had no penny, no fear, no pain Into an alley he lost his way Ran into gold, saved it for a rainy day Not a day went past, he didn't count it all His friends now few and fears grew tall Looking for more in his alley of gold With nothing to share he grew lonely and old The weight…
It only takes a second for your routine to be thrown off. Lightning hit our TV. It was our only TV. We don’t watch TV that much. It’s a nice way to wind down at the end of the day. We enjoy sports (it’s baseball season!). We love old movies. With no TV what will we do? Lucky for me, I have other pastimes. I am not…
I'd rather be alone on a passing cloud than a lonely man in bustling crowd. We often exist in the complete freedom of a lonely life.
You need someone you can tell everything. I share with my friends. They know a lot about me, but they don’t know everything. You can tell your journal everything. This essay and the next are examples of how I use my journals as a best friend. You may be surprised when your journal gives you an answer. I often clear my…
Alfred Hitchcock said, "Happiness is a clear horizon." -- Feelings of joy or excitement are not happiness; happiness is a place of contentment. The problem arises when we place happiness so high on our list of priorities that we forget it comes from taking action. Yes, I'm not against happiness; it is desirable.…
Take a new leap of faith Read the book Go to events Go to sports meet new people Travel the world for half a year Talk to people you wanted to talk to Listen to podcast Ask for a raise Don’t escape from the hard things in life by short term dopamines (insta, fb, YouTube, dinner, sleep, etc…) Put your mind in it Put an…
You imagine some futuristic tall pointy structures that go into the clouds, like the Sky Tower in the movie Oblivion [0] But I realised recently that many of us, including myself, are already living in the sky. Over the past few years, I lived in a house on the 33rd floor and worked in an office on the 5th. I spend…
Do not keep on writing - but rather start to apply. Writing and planning and motivating is all “prenups and getting ready and warmups” There is no such thing is exactly getting ready You just have to play and start the game that’s all Don’t strive for being ready That applies from: - sending that email going for…
Recently, I have been leaning on nature as a teacher through the process of unlearning the prioritization of efficiency and productivity that has been instilled in me. This is a documentation of the lessons that I have been taught. TRUSTING THEIR WISDOM Even though we share 1/4 of our DNA with them, plants have…
I have doubts now and then. I sometimes doubt that I could make something work as I get deeper into the domain. I sometimes doubt myself about whether or not I could success. I sometimes doubt myself about whether or not what I am doing will turn out to be successful. I doubt myself everyday. But that's natural. I…
Shakira and Gerard Pique are separating after being together for 12 years. I was scrolling through twitter when I first came across a tweet about this and I did not think it is true . But soon after a few days it was all over the news that Pique was cheating on Shakira and was even living alone in an apartment now .…
i don't mean ibuprofen i mean weed i realized that weed restored back to me a positivity and practical intelligence and life force and "i can do this" that i had lost due to my hypersensitivity and awareness of the general shittiness of average people before books saved my life, weed threw me a flotation device.
It's been a while since I wrote. A whole month has passed. There was some anxiety closer to the NT Scan when I started bleeding a little. Nothing to worry, baby is doing well. We made a baby announcement. Was happy to share this news with the world. Almost 15 weeks pregnant now. A long way to go, but have also come a…
I was born in the late 80s, which means I grew up playing Starcraft. For those of you not born in the 80s Starcraft is a computer game where you'd build little armies and conquer the map. There were the future humans called Terrans. There were fancy hi-tech aliens with their spaceships and laser beams called the…
the first thing if you give it more time than it's worth. Try not to be alarmed. It will come back to you.
A serious daily journaler may have an extensive journaling routine. Three morning pages? They take 30 minutes or more, depending on writing/typing speed. A multiple-component journaling routine? My routine takes 20 to 45 minutes consisting of the following: gratitude, intent for the day, sometimes I need an…
Have a different flavour One room has mismatched socks Another, discarded earrings And yet another a space on a pillow. The kitchen is silent too Empty vessels that make no sound Wine and water turned to stains On spoons and rims of glasses. And the flowers on the balcony Nod silently And bloom regardless. December…
lately i've felt like time is compressed. or rather, it's malformed. it's not passing normally, is what i'm trying to say, i guess. i'm incredibly busy yet feel like i don't have much to show for it. most of it feels like a constant battle to keep up with gestures at everything it's too much sometimes. most of the…
pronounced: "eye" or "I" which Google just told me is pronounced "ai." waow, that one really came full circle on its own, didn't it? stands for: Artist employment initiative wut it is: a collaborative effort with Kind AI )you know the one)s( better than Ʌei do, I'd imagine, anon( to provide funding for individual…
if you start the day with a painkiller, you set yourself up for success i thought i'd preemptively dodge any period cramps today by starting off the morning with a beautiful little glowing blue pill and i am feeling just ok just normal so imagine how i'd feel without it! and i used to resist taking pain killers…
Sim, odeio é uma palavra muito forte. Eu também acho. Mas vamos lá de novo. Eu odeio sair a noite. Me sinto ainda mais deslocada, ainda mais outsider, como se não só eu, mas todo mundo soubesse que eu não pertenço aquele círculo ou aquele lugar. Vou ser justa: eu até gosto de sair, mas para cinema, restaurante, show,…
Regardless of what you're doing or wanting to do. Everything that you can do that's relevant and has chance to be impactful has one thing in common. That commonality is something you can see behind every successful author, musician, artist, entrepreneur, etc. And I'm not referring to putting in the work and getting…
Maybe you shouldn’t be affected by how others treat you You need to be big enough Still smile to them To L, to the Myanmar engineer who is rude Make eye contact and smile - say hi morning, things like that Don’t be rude just because others are That makes you reactive - and only initiative people tends to get success…
