When technology fails, you've been given a gift.
It only takes a second for your routine to be thrown off.
Lightning hit our TV. It was our only TV.
We don’t watch TV that much. It’s a nice way to wind down at the end of the day. We enjoy sports (it’s baseball season!). We love old movies.
With no TV what will we do?
Lucky for me, I have other pastimes. I am not talking about using my phone or other electronic devices just like a TV.
My go-to activities are:
Reading - I have three books in progress, a science fiction/fantasy, a historical fiction set in Venice, Italy, and a non-fiction about gifts.
Conversing - There are two other adults in my house. Conversation is not a problem. We all bring a different perspective to the topic.
Writing - I’m a pen/paper kind of writer. Essays, lists, writing thoughts about books and conversations, organizing ideas, I love having it down on paper.
Then I always end up sitting in silence, petting my dog. That’s the best way to wind down at the end of the day.
A TV is an easy distraction from other worthy activities. I don’t need one.
The lightning hit had given me a gift.
