Day 002:
I reached for a jar on a shelf and this happened. Lots of things are breaking down around me, and now I see what God is doing. His pattern is to break things before he builds them into something newer + better. That’s exactly what’s happening in my life right now. Things are breaking down left and right, because he knows I’m committed to building a stronger, healthier foundation.
I believe much discontent stems from a false belief that life owes us something. Life is full of blessings + miracles, and we are right to desire them; whether you believe in the promises of the Holy Bible, it is an intuitive knowing that abundance is our birthright.
We seek it out, and when we encounter obstacles, we grow weary + frustrated at ourselves and those around us. We blame ourselves and others for the injustice, and for good reason. We are responsible for the state of the world in one way or another.
But when we consider this World is a broken place that we can’t repair in our own strength…
When we consider that our minds + hearts need mending, and that we are incapable of rendering the healing that needs to happen…
When we consider that perhaps our real job is asking for help and cooperating with God in restoring the one aspect of life we can actually control — ourselves…
Maybe we’ll discover that the toppling shelves in life are opportunities for us to assess the weight of our expectations and the burden of the baggage we carry.
That we may consider the invitation of rest that unburdens of from the shame of our past, and frees us to live into a lighter, more promising future.
