Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
one thing i’ve been thinking about a lot is what i’ve thought of as “what-the-fuck art” that is, those artworks that are so weird and so confusing that you can’t help but go “what the fuck, why is this… like this? what series of decisions and beliefs led the artist to think these make sense together?” — i suppose any…
ahh AI text to image generation tools that are hot topic recently are pushing the boundary of how we can create and iterate. exploring vocabulary and visuals is an interesting topic. its like a new form of poetry. just like centuries ago, there will be many poets but not so many famous poems. i imagine what this new…
i may sound like a soulless creature here, but i did use to have a soul i promise - it was a garden with fragrant flowers, honeydew, some butterflies and all shades of colours. i don't know when i became a parched desert but if i am this today then i am also what i was. i am just scared, i think, of the colossal…
Intelligent people will put themselves in positive situations When they answer questions They will put them to a better position Not lesser than before (like giving people doubting you) So face is a problem too - sometimes by the agave you can see Intelligent people put themselves in a good position too - even w their…
门当户对 - it's the relationship / survival skills. You did have love with YQ but it doesn't work in the end But if you're not - you gotta work hard to get there -------------- Because never compare. There's so much things that you can do when you're single. Focus on something that you won't regret You think you will…
posts in the discover tab only shows posts from 2022, wonder if this platform is still active.
do you ever feel that scientists are paid to investigate some pretty obvious things and that society as a whole is interested in very uninteresting things? i want to know about how human language got invented. not any specific language, but the concept of language itself. and how, if the language families don't have a…
Neil DeGrasse Tyson once made an argument underlining the difference between a political/courtroom debate and a scientific debate. And according to him, the crux of the difference lies in the possibility of an agreement between the two participants based on mutually agreed, objective, observable facts. That is, for…
To refer to a phenomenon or quantity as being deficient implies that there is some proper amount one might expect to have. A gas tank that is three-quarters empty, for example, would rightly be considered deficient if our destination were two hundred miles away; a "gasoline deficit," as it were. It would be just as…
Last weekend, my sister and I argued. She said my niece was still awake at 3:30 AM. I taunted her for it. Not my proudest moment. But it made me think. Everyone says, “Parenting is hard.” And it is when you’re making hard choices. The kind that helps kid grow strong in body and mind. For this, I truly believe in…
Most schools, at least the kind I went to too, are pointless and do more harm than good. People spend about 15 years of their life in schools. During this period, I feel they loose creativity and curiosity. They are taught to compete with peers and learn that failing is a bad thing. They are taught things which are…
Step 4 - There are some things you keep ready in advance, like 2 finely chopped tomatoes, a bunch of coriander leaves, and half lemon. Now add them all to the the cooker. And stir them well. In the figure of eight..? Yes, try. The tomatoes will release a lot of water. Keep stirring well to mash the tomatoes…
I have a friend who always responds with "tired" or "stressed" whenever I ask how she is. It's been five years, and 90% of the time, those are her answers. Yesterday, at a party, she was tired, and after they sang happy birthday, she was in a rush to leave. I asked her to stay a bit longer so we could hang out, but…
is that bad? i want him to read marie calloway bc i think he could really relate and really love it and it'll convince him to live the life that i want for him [i see him as the robert to my patti smith, the edie sedgwick to my andy warhol, and the andy warhol to my edie sedgwick] whenever i'm around him or recall our…
every day you must take time a short time to eat a cookie there will be a time that a cookie will be the last cookie you'll ever eat so if you eat a cookie every day you're fighting the chances that the cookie you last ate was the ultimate last cookie of your life don't waste time on bad cookies
I think the hardest thing I’ve had to do is to decide who to be as a creator. Helping others explore and develop their creativity felt much easier than developing my own. There is such joy in standing with another creative and helping them t o aim their creative arrows toward their desired target.…
This is by far the most important and most difficult lesson I've learned over the past years. I'm still getting better at it more and more but it's not easy. The whole gist of it is that you should do what you have to do at the time that you have to. Sounds pretty simple but you'd be hard pressed to find someone out…
One day, I picked up my grandson from school and had a conversation with him about his day. I asked if he enjoyed math and English. Then I asked whether he was good at handwriting and told him that mine was poor unless I took my time with it. My grandson's response to the handwriting question floored me a little. He…
ahhh! today creation is hard. it frustrates me. reoccurring in my mind as an emotion, fades from top to bottom. somewhere in the gradient is the perfect colour that represents the output of my frustration
It hit me today. The realization didn't hit me like a ton of bricks. (Like some people would say.) But it did arrive to my conscious awareness. What am I talking about? Well, the fact that people don't do that of taking time and space out of their mundane routine. Like what I can write in the following paragraphs can…
There is something aching in my throat. It clings like a desperate spore, spewing and propagating upon itself, reiterating, wanting to be more but only manifesting as pain. I call it pain but really it is longing. I used to look at the world as a child did. Now I have developed floaters in my retinal fluid. Reticent…
To Jiang Wei & Bryan: don’t just think of yourself: 下次跟你们抽, 我现在赶时间 If you reroute it same destination but different feels: 我回来再跟你们抽 我刚好要meet 朋友; 这个可以让他们好回 因为你让他们开心,所以他们也不会 因为你的不开心而不让你开心 The most topnotch about emotional intelligence: people care about you because you care about them; and also you have that aura ✨ and…
Neither compliments. Head-ons. Incoming jokes. Anything that is sudden and unexpected... Take it slow. No uhhs no umms. Silence and think Can make you be so much more attractive Stop writing and start living more because honestly - after you "dumped" your thoughts like how you dump Fukushima waters You won't be going…
Dreams of fortunes, inside towers tall, Deaf ears drown inner calls. Fancy house, a high-rise view, For fleeting praise i chose to pursue. My youth traded for suits and ties, Seeking my worth in some other's eyes. Dawn to dusk in office halls, Sleepless nights inside mansion walls Through sleepless nights and silent…
We love the fullness of life. It's so obvious why we enjoy everything around us. A new bike, a kayaking adventure, 10 sets of cutlery. But here's the question. Can you tap into that sense of enjoyment of NOT having something? A sense of cleanliness. A sense of simplicity. A sense of emptiness. A sense of possibility.…
Have a different flavour One room has mismatched socks Another, discarded earrings And yet another a space on a pillow. The kitchen is silent too Empty vessels that make no sound Wine and water turned to stains On spoons and rims of glasses. And the flowers on the balcony Nod silently And bloom regardless. December…
Childhood is a magical time. As a parent, I feel pressure to preserve this sanctity for my own children. Of course I could be wrong but I’ve noticed a trend: if there are at least two children in a family, there are two archetypes: a favorite and a performer. The favorite in the family was the one that was, knowingly…
An observation I had while waiting at the international airport departure terminal in Bangalore. Picture a 40,000 square feet departure lounge. Interspersed with a mix of cafes, restaurants and plenty of lounge chairs, sleeping pods and tables. The departure gates on their part are on the outer periphery of this…
"Use a picture. It's worth a thousand words." - Arthur Brisbane, at the Syracuse Advertising Men's Club in 1911. You've heard this phrase as, "a picture is worth a thousand words". Pictures can be used to enhance the journal visually. When writing your thoughts, you must use words. It's not necessary to write long…
You should shed people’s expectations of whom you should be or what you should behave like. There is no reason to be concerned with what your friends or neighbours or acquitances think about you. You’re the driver in your life, only you can see your road ahead and the journey you have traversed. You cannot expect…
Managing money is hard for a couple of reasons. Firstly, most of us don't understand what money is and how it works. We don't really understand why pieces of paper have value - many of us still think it's backed by gold. We also don't understand why a random piece of metal aka gold is so precious. We don't understand…
It's been over a decade since I last started a blog, so curious how this will feel. Blog feels like an outdated term for this—I guess I mean, "long-form tweet!" Just perused the aforementioned blog I made as a young person. I'm so glad to have a record of that time, even though I didn't write much about anything that…
We are all conditioned to have only one thing in our lives. /one school /one career /one home /the one But lately I have been testing the idea of living in two places. I love living on an island off of the snow-capped mountainous, seaport city of Seattle. I am lucky and could not ask for more. Except for another…
the night appears to pass in blinks yet the dreams hold ages, it seems. the pleasant stories playing in a thread, we crave, they never come to an end. to finish them, trying again to sleep, the thoughts resurfacing from the deep. too-bad, the stories refuse to weave, how quickly we let the gone to leave. how many more…
Imagine if the earliest explorers were asked to create an itinerary before they set out to travel. Absurd, right? But that has completely changed for the rest of us. We travel after meticulous planning. In fact, our planning is so meticulous there is a whole industry around curating trips. Travel influencers are a…
I was sifting through my social media accounts this morning. Several of my tweets or posts felt like they had been posted a few hours ago. I was recalling my thought process behind each post. How much time I took. How 'important' they felt. How they reflected my mindset and experiences at that particular moment.…
I believe in the power of swiping. I believe it is a song continually singing left or flipping right, delighting in the minor and major of it all and the fall of the green and the birth of the ice and the magnificent way we all stop to think twice about our lives, our dreams, our reams of baroque reasoning our ways…
I always carry pieces of the people I’ve lost with me. Lovers, friends and even some strangers. They reside in me. I have never been great at showing emotion or telling people how much they mean to me. But I miss them dearly. Each and everyone who added to my life. Even those from what feels like ages ago. It’s not…
Today I had dinner with the marketing head of a client of mine. We had nice conversations but one thing particularly struck me: How genuinely helpful and supportive she was. In the course of the evening she proactively offered help and support on several topics, without expecting anything in return. I'm always…
I'm watching a YouTube video called Network: The World is a Corporation. It's a single scene from one of my favorite movies, Network, written by Paddy Chayefsky and directed by Sidney Lumet. I'm not a big rewatch person, but I like to quote and reference this scene a lot to people, and since my memory isn't as sharp…
Just saw though - from a dying 23 yo patient His last ideal was to bring his kindness and love to everyone around him And he hoped to be remembered from that Because when I was poor I was not in the right state of mind My mind was abit evil and selfish I didn’t want to spend time with my ex because I wanted to focus…
I was thinking whether or not I should write this post. The reason I didn't want to is simply because my opinion on this does not matter at all. The reason I did want to write this is that it can throw some light on my thought process which applies to other things in life. I'd say I'm quite pro-Elon. Simply because…
Today was a great day. Spend more money than I’d want to since yesterday but it’s okay but it wasn’t on drugs or booze.. tonight I made chicken Alfredo pasta w mushrooms to finish a great day
So I have subjected myself to around 30 minutes of scrolling through LinkedIn. Ive been feeling a bunch of negative emotions stirring up in my belly and I would like to analyze them. 1. Twinge of regret/ FOMO - BlissClub seems to be putting great posts about their folks and culture and Sudhanshu seems to be a great…
Micro habits are important for creators. They build muscle memory to ship things faster. In my opinion, two foundation habits are - writing and reading. Atomic writing is a forcing function to reduce fluff. A path to clear thinking. But more importantly, It's a small bet that reduces inhibition in sharing. It gets you…
Even though I have known about the problems with invasive species since I took an environmental science class in high school, I hadn’t stopped to consider that our garden could spell disaster for local ecosystems. Invasive species are organisms brought to a new environment and adapt to it so well that in doing so they…
