What the hell is school?
Most schools, at least the kind I went to too, are pointless and do more harm than good.
People spend about 15 years of their life in schools. During this period, I feel they loose creativity and curiosity. They are taught to compete with peers and learn that failing is a bad thing. They are taught things which are totally irrelevant in today's world and even more irrelevant for the world they'll be living in.
It might sound morbid, but you can see so many similarities between schools and prisions. People are kept within confined space, move around in lines based on when a bell rings, follow rules for everything, wear the same clothes, are let out into the yard for some time. One big reason parents send their kids to school is so that they don't have to take care of them and can go to work. I read somewhere that this is the reason schools start so early - so parents can drop their kids off before work!
When the world's information is available online and teachers only get a dime on the dollar, and most of the people you learn to "socialise" with, you forget by the time you're 30 - what does the school do? Make a ton of money - that's for sure. Harvard and Yale have one of the world's biggest endowment funds
15 years is a long time. Not only is it enough time to kill creativity and curiosity, it's also enough time to add enough baggage that will take another 10 years to shed (MBA? maybe 20)
Schools are supposed to prepare you for life. A few do a great job, but most don't. In fact they make you worse off.
P.s. I did not hate my time at school.
