Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
Good night's sleep, even without the whirlpool and crappy eating. Odd dream: only a snippet of making out with a woman I know to be a lesbian. Got to listen to birdsong over coffee this morning. The birdsong doesn't make me feel as happy as it used to. Time for a break, time for a change. 280720 May 2022
I'm discovering that when hardship strikes, it's tempting to wallow in self-doubt, but it’s more rewarding to put in the effort to prevail. Don't get me wrong, feelings are important but in the long run if your feelings keep you stagnant - then it's time to activate your will and fight for the outcomes you truly…
A while back at a public event, I saw a guy with a shirt that had a design with those words (it was a cool design btw). It was one of those moments that you are like "ohhh, cool shirt" and that's it. But the phrase got stuck in my head, so much so that later on, I wrote a note on my cellphone. With everything I've…
It’s because everyone has their own set of mind And most times high level individual are usually very self aware - You gotta be stronger and more attractive The way you do things etc Don’t 后知后觉 when you think of something think it to the end. Whatever you do Of course it’s better to JUST DO Though you could’ve done…
The other day I saw a video about working out what we need in order to be happy. It's not that we don't want stuff, it's just that it takes a long time to figure out if what we want is accurate or authentic. Most of us just end up wanting what others around us want. We can spend a lifetime fulfilling other people's…
There many vivid memories and stories that tie me to the monsoons. Growing up in Bandra, swimming regularly at a Club in Khar and going to a school in Santacruz, I am confident that I experienced monsoon in its full glory just by virtue of growing up in these neighborhoods. Early adult life, living in Cuffe Parade…
Heya! I have always wanted to come back and write and reflect here more. Rather than committing myself to lofty targets, I plan to be intentionally inconsistent here and writing here only when something strikes me so hard that I cannot stop writing about it. So what's something now that I cannot shut up about it? I…
I believe in the power of swiping. I believe it is a song continually singing left or flipping right, delighting in the minor and major of it all and the fall of the green and the birth of the ice and the magnificent way we all stop to think twice about our lives, our dreams, our reams of baroque reasoning our ways…
Supriya Roychoudhury's piece Hathi on FiftyTwo.in is clear in my memory both because it was excellent and because it was one of the few bright spots during the second wave of Covid in April-May 2021. (https://fiftytwo.in/story/hathi/) It told the touching tale of Hathi, an elephant presented by India to the Kabul Zoo…
The moments of feeling anxious or a negative thought entering the mind are few and far in between now. They exist, I just need the time to summon them and they'll be prompt in their arrival. There's something that stops me from summoning them or engaging for too long with these thoughts. I don't think there is…
this is a personal note, nothing wise. I consider myself to be a very disciplined and wise person for my age. but there are moments where I feel, where is this wisdom even leading me to. all the people I know do cool stuff and living just amazingly. how to make sure that what I'm doing, excluding myself from every fun…
I used to think to produce good work, I have to duck my head down, empty myself, fully, so that I could un-become, and just be - right - do the right thing - somehow. I now know that my best bet is to integrate, to align, to face my heart, and yours. My best bet is to take things to their logical conclusion - because…
You can know everything there is to know about a subject, but without credibility, no one will listen to what you have to say. Understanding that credibility in most fields is demonstrated through group affiliations, not IQ points, can help you present the truth in the best light, without fabricating it. In the 4-Hour…
Now that PaLM 2 is going to run a GPT4ish model on my Pixel, I wonder if there's the same need for a bulky laptop. I mean, I can code with Replit. I can use ChatGPT from my phone and that will have a code interpreter released broadly soon, along with a diverse ecosystem of plugins that enable web browsing, reading up…
ChatGPT, was launched recently. I went through several different emotions as I saw screenshots of its capability posted all over twitter. First I was in awe, then I was in denial trying to find evidence of its failure. Subconsciously, I was trying to convince myself that a human was better and AI will not take over.…
Gotta be living the best at every moment. Ang mo vs Asian mentality Do you like yourself at this second? Would you be liking yourself if you were someone else? You don’t need to decrease your energy level to match the same as PS You need to stay focus and be focus Not thinking of something else dirty with her You need…
I saw Homebound today. It was heartfelt. It showed me a side of India that I know nothing about. How their lives go. What their routines are. What they aspire to be. What problems they deal with. Part caste and religion plays in small ways in their daily experience. I hold Varun Grover in a very high regard. I'd see…
Improvements in the human condition are easier to create and measure when times are tough. Starving? Eat. Thirsty? Drink. Homeless? Find shelter or build a home if you can afford it (if you're in Goa, good luck). --- In times of abundance though, things get slightly tricky. How do you measure if your life is good when…
A writer doesn't choose to write. That's why they often run from it. Avoid it to the point they'll procrastinate. They'll clean instead of clean (express) the interior of their mind. It's easy to run away from the work. But, a writer is called to do the work, regardless of the outcome. I've heard other writers say,…
When you choose your Halloween costume, which self do you show? Is it the fun, happy self who dresses like a pumpkin, pirate, or candy bar? Or do you face your fears of letting your inner goblin, demon, or Grimm Reaper show? The costume you choose is a lot like journaling. You should write about your fun, happy…
did you close your eyes? i miss the old you i know people change but you didn't have to why did you leave? cant you see? it's tearing all apart come back, please i will always wait i will always pray i will try to not lose hope i will love you through our storm
These are the big things I'm thinking of right now: 1. Trade less Last cycle I was obsessed with rebalancing portfolios and trying to be agile. I made a stupid number of trades, often daily. I got lost, it didn't really work, and it was exhausting. This time around, I will be more deliberate and intentional. 2.…
Technology is not, and can never be, neutral. Since it is impossible to present all available choices with equal priority, what we choose to emphasize is an expression of our values and priorities. Choosing defaults, providing recommendations, or identifying what content is shown and in what order. These are all…
Sometimes it doesn’t matter about the delivery (at first). Of course it matters but - what you started or initiated is much more interesting and useful/you’re supposed to live it that way. Imagine the scenario which you had in your head for quite a few times: You rather not do something because you’re afraid of making…
We need a place in between Twitter and newsletters. We know that people want to be share in a variety of formats, a variety of lengths, a variety of fidelities. But the fact that no single platform currently allows this shows the vast opportunity for online social media to evolve. Who decided that a social media…
300 words sits above the atomic essay "limit" 1. repost ship30 essays === this place encourages publishing (people will see it) yet hides the vanity metrics (likes) whether strangers stumble upon or known friends come to learn 2. sandbox for quick thoughts benefit of getting writing out of head bonus if you get…
We are all conditioned to have only one thing in our lives. /one school /one career /one home /the one But lately I have been testing the idea of living in two places. I love living on an island off of the snow-capped mountainous, seaport city of Seattle. I am lucky and could not ask for more. Except for another…
I was born in the late 80s, which means I grew up playing Starcraft. For those of you not born in the 80s Starcraft is a computer game where you'd build little armies and conquer the map. There were the future humans called Terrans. There were fancy hi-tech aliens with their spaceships and laser beams called the…
Its strange why my articlulation of ideas/feedback has not been upto the mark - despite spending time with clear thinkers. Second order thinking also tends to be a pain in the ass - a number of the decisions that I take spread ripple effects that I need to be vary of. Along with one & two, crisp writing especially in…
Now that you have read the part 1 of it, let us get started with the steps - Step 1 - Chop a large onion (or 2 small ones) into really fine slices. Add 4-5 tablespoons (a little more if you want added oiliness. No harm there.) of oil in a large vessel which is a cooker, needed to prepare the curry-like thing that's…
i noticed that sometimes i am prone to self-deluding untruths. i have observed primarily two types of lies: (1) "i will do xyz" and i do not end up doing xyz (and this task has nothing to do with difficulty of achievement; if i wanted to do it, i would've done it. it is always something trivial) (2) "i am so excited…
So long I worked and toiled and begged. To make a small dream come true. Everything came undone, with a nod, a slip and slow announcement. I don't want to dream anymore. It hurts so much to feel so worthless. So incompetent and dumb and silent. So foolish and stuck and silent. I dont want to dream anymore. And have no…
one thing i've always been shy to admit was that i always wanted my birthday to fall on a weekday because it meant that i could finally get attention from my friends or have a day all meant for me. birthdays are a funny concept - celebrating the day you were born when all i've wanted to do was dissapear. still, its…
We’re meeting more and more. Our calendars are full of it. But why is our hearts empty? The more I’m glued to my screen, listening to faceless voices, the less I understand. Why am I here?
In a world full of information and distractions sometimes we take for granted to look out the window, listen to our environment, and think for ourselves. Having something to say or not, sometimes we need to be an observer, and feel in some way alive, by living instead of comparing or consuming other people's lives.…
A short guide for consumers and businesses alike. • Silence: Business as usual. • Virtue signaling: “We support you. You are not alone. The fight is only just beginning.” • Actionable support: “Support access to reproductive healthcare by giving to these organizations.” “For anyone wanting to help, see description…
i want you to fold and tremble for the cages of our soul unable to control what’s out there i want you to question you, her and me i want you to answer completely honestly i need you to listen fight for me i want you (to) i truly do
I used to get angry and edgy about small things, which did not happen as per my liking. Coming home and seeing someone moved the AC remote from its usual place or moved a bowl on the table. I started acknowledging. Thinking why I am like this. Why is this a big deal. The more I thought, the worse it became.…
Ahhhhh speaking with an AI has moments of joy thinking about all the possibilities. then it's content quickly changes and reality tells me we have a very long way before all our possibilities will be realized...
Update: I am no longer trying to release articles weekly, I've found a better, more constructive workflow :). We give fiat currencies value, $50 is worth something because we as a society say with $50 you can buy a certain amount of food, shelter, travel, gold or a certain amount another currency. If we as a society…
My girlfriends laughed when they wondered out loud if I wrote about them in my journal. Journals conjure up images of teenage girls' diaries under lock and key. Of course, they were curious. They saw me writing each morning of our getaway trip. What juicy details were included in my daily writings? Until then, I…
Remember those boxy robots from a couple of decades ago? The ones that spoke to humans and passed witty quips? I remember being so hooked to it that I'd have given an arm for that experience as a kid. Safe to say, we fell rather short in our attempt to make that a reality. We used the language of computers aka logic,…
It’s been several years since I made the decision to bid farewell to my excess body fat. My journey towards a more active lifestyle began during those days. Prior to that, the thought of being physically active didn’t interest me much. Simply walking to the subway or bus station and occasionally taking a taxi…
i'm losing the faith that i can ever really be ordinary in the ways i wanted to be ordinary but i hope to at least be extraordinary in the ways i want to be extraordinary i'm gettin a feelin that i want to look at megan boyle's birth chart
Imagine if the earliest explorers were asked to create an itinerary before they set out to travel. Absurd, right? But that has completely changed for the rest of us. We travel after meticulous planning. In fact, our planning is so meticulous there is a whole industry around curating trips. Travel influencers are a…
That is life these days. The moles keep popping up. I’m knocking them down but not at the pace that feels sustainable to keep them at bay. So, time to figure out how to kill the moles before they’re out of control.
We're always optimising that we lose the ability to really enjoy any moment. We are always trying to see, "How can I get the most of this moment". If you look at Efficiency as a formula = Value out of this moment / Time spent on this moment. Then we have begun to optimise for both = Getting most value, whilst spending…
