Writing into the Abyss
A writer doesn't choose to write. That's why they often run from it. Avoid it to the point they'll procrastinate. They'll clean instead of clean (express) the interior of their mind. It's easy to run away from the work. But, a writer is called to do the work, regardless of the outcome. I've heard other writers say, "writing a mental illness." Because it is consuming of the mind, and you have to follow the overwhelming expression.
It's a pestering voice within your mind that tells you, you must write. And, by avoiding it, you create suffering. Artists often thrive in times of suffering because their backs are against the wall. The 4 walls are often your only friends. They know your struggle first hand as you place your hands on your head while screaming in agony.
There's a beauty behind the madness of artistry and we often overlook the amount of resistance one must overcome to finalize what was once a thought.
Artists must give. The audience absorbs. An equal exchange.
Artists give time, thought, energy, and suffer(ing).
Audience absorbs the thought, inspiration, or feeling(s).
The feelings must be worthy of the time spent for the audience. They must come away with something new outside of their worldview because they entered into your world.
A world that puts their emotions into words (they often can't formulate themselves). A world that inspires action or at the very least clarity amongst the complicated reality of life.
Nobody cares. But everyone cares, when everyone else cares.
Make people care (about you) as they see themselves reflected.
If the artist avoids it, it's passed on to another. The muses choose the rightful artists to turn the abyss of this universe into something meaningful.
When we search for meaning... Art is there extending its hand.
