lying to myself
i noticed that sometimes i am prone to self-deluding untruths.
i have observed primarily two types of lies:
(1) "i will do xyz" and i do not end up doing xyz (and this task has nothing to do with difficulty of achievement; if i wanted to do it, i would've done it. it is always something trivial)
(2) "i am so excited about" and i am not excited
why do i do this?
(1) to seem productive? to feel productive? OR it's the opposite of a self-fulfilling prophecy. by declaring that i will do something, i have made it a prison from which to escape? or i didn't really want to do it but i wanted to want to do it?
(2) i want to want to be excited about something in particular, because it seems wholesome and not crass. it brings me closer to my No. 1 personality (Good Me) and away from the my No. 2 personality (Bad Me)
[i've been reading Jung (and only Jung) lately and he kept talking about his No. 1 personality and No. 2 personality and now I've stolen his verbiage]
but i never deceive myself in terms of what i think/believe
so in order to break through all of these delusions i must simply ask: how can i stop?
HOW CAN I STOP?
by becoming indifferent to myself.
i must stop caring whether i am like this or like that. i must have the courage to be the things i fear i am. what is it that i fear i am?
profane? common?
