Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
300 words sits above the atomic essay "limit" 1. repost ship30 essays === this place encourages publishing (people will see it) yet hides the vanity metrics (likes) whether strangers stumble upon or known friends come to learn 2. sandbox for quick thoughts benefit of getting writing out of head bonus if you get…

Hello! Lets talk about inhibitions and hurdles in taming the day. As someone who has tried almost every trick to stay on track and create a routine and series of habits that help me in navigating life as I see fit. Here are my observations: 1. Diligence is key, identifying action items and getting started is simple…
Of all the things people tweet about online regarding startups, I've not seen a single one about cofounder dynamics. Yet, in my experience, cofounder dynamics are one of, if the not the, most important aspect of a young startup. Cofounders can argue and disagree. Individuals have egos sand insecurities. People have…
I'm a big fan of Yes Theory and their open, serendipitous approach to life. And I try to take them as an example, to seek more discomfort myself, to say yes, to approach strangers, and to face new situations openly and curiously. That's easier said than done, and it's still not easy for me. Too often, my comfort zone…
ahhh! today creation is hard. it frustrates me. reoccurring in my mind as an emotion, fades from top to bottom. somewhere in the gradient is the perfect colour that represents the output of my frustration
Moods, nausea and fear washes over me in tides and recedes just like that. Like my therapist said, fear needs to be embraced. It's an emotion that serves one quite well if embraced properly. I try to slowly build a friendship with fear because something tells me she will be a companion for life. Fear is a sneaky…
Western culture is suppressing it's animal nature and that's creating a dangerous shadow. That's what Friedrich Nietzsche wrote in his first book "The birth of tragedy". I'd love to tell you how to express your animal nature in a healthy way. But I don't know. Here's what I do know; Tragedy was born in theater plays.…
Friendships, like any other relationships, are supposed to be mutual—mutual understanding and mutual effort. There should be a balance to it, just like any other aspect of life. When a friendship is one-sided, it can lead to unhealthy feelings of resentment or exhaustion. Eventually on the long run, you can get tired…
How often in my life I have not taken the time to process my feelings. I know how to work hard and achieve success but I forget to celebrate with a period of rest and restoration. How many times in my life I have ran from one thing to the next without fully absorbing the monumental endeavors that I have achieved. The…
In a culture that often emphasizes balance and self-compassion, advice to avoid being too hard on oneself is common. Phrases like “It’s not good to be so strict!” or “You shouldn’t force yourself!” may seem well-intentioned, but I believe they reflect a misunderstanding of self-discipline and personal growth. While…
At the end of our stay at a pleasant inn last year, I wanted to tip the room staff. I didn't have any cash, there was no on-prem ATM, and hotel was in the middle of nowhere. I had an idea: why not place placards or cards in the rooms at the end of a stay that would allow guests to tip via Venmo, Cash App, or some…
there is no such thing as a promiscuous man unless he's gay but my question to society is: is it so bad to be promiscuous? can we treat it as another form of adventurousness? you know what is bad? unhappy marriages abusive relationships we push people to be in relationships so much that we forget that most of us are…
I wrote 2 drafts with some ideas about topics I could write about... they are gone. I can't recall what they were about, as much as I sit around and try to remember, I'm still left with just a blank page in my brain. This shows how important it is to write your ideas the moment they pop out because everyone has good…
To be influencing And effective in your words The smartest/dumbest person would do when someone point his pain point to you is straight to to his pain point and talk about that point Side him first “I understand! He’s so COPYCAT like omg I can’t believed what he did” “But…” “Have you thought of talking to him about…
You can know everything there is to know about a subject, but without credibility, no one will listen to what you have to say. Understanding that credibility in most fields is demonstrated through group affiliations, not IQ points, can help you present the truth in the best light, without fabricating it. In the 4-Hour…
Everyone is talking about moats being dead. If something is easy to build, anyone can build it. I don't know what my opinion is. I feel like I don't have time to think about it. Or maybe I don't really care, because building products online feels like play to me, not a job. For Nicheless, perhaps if it had a network…
Its strange why my articlulation of ideas/feedback has not been upto the mark - despite spending time with clear thinkers. Second order thinking also tends to be a pain in the ass - a number of the decisions that I take spread ripple effects that I need to be vary of. Along with one & two, crisp writing especially in…
Species, amongst other things, are defined by their niche. The environment they interact with defines the trajectory of their evolution. You notice a tradeoff between specialization and flexible adaptability. Typically, to dominate a particular niche, a species must specialize. The Environment Confines and Refines.…
A friend shared with me today - "But I was not so productive during the last two days." Her past two days She led a hybrid (in-person, video) workshop, started transcribing guided meditations for a case study on how to engage people in using apps to take care of their mental health more, worked on a blogpost, and…
(original: 2006 March 29) ... o.k., susan ... i'll play Four jobs you have had in your life: 1. smaller leather goods salesperson in dept. store 2. plastic lid putter-onner for canned food stuff 3. junior chemist (summer) 4. working for the voices in my head Four movies you would watch over and over: 1. shawashank…
Tons of people Tons of things to do Tons of places With all this, I just go into a very extrovert personality to protect myself
I've often been told that I'm straightforward in my conversations. This caught the attention of my wife who once remarked, "I wish I could be as straightforward as you." It made me wonder if there's a fear of being direct and possibly offending others. When something catches my attention like this, I try to dig deeper…
Ever found your self doing something out of habit without you ever noticing? The (not so) humble android OS was designed to run on any device - from simple toasters to sophisticated devices having more computational capacity than the rocket that landed us on the moon. Part of this robustness is due to the multi…
It's been a while since I wrote on Nicheless. Now that I'm writing here again it feels like a return to form. What happens when you undergo a major change in your life? It's different for everyone, some withdraw from their social circles, while others become happier and more open in general. Is it the same for hobbies…
A quote on an Oprah Winfrey show got me thinking about how it is important to have the good wines when we are having a bad day. The premise is that if one is having a good day, one does not need the good wine, but an excellent cabernet on a dull day will cheer one up. A glass of champagne will add a sparkle to a day…
Professionalization is the psychological analogue of industrialization. If industrialization is the process by which a widget is standardized into a fungible unit of consumption, professionalization is the process by which a trade or craft is standardized into a fungible unit of production. Consider the development of…
I'm soon going to complete my 30th lap around the Sun. I'm not sure what life expectancy is these days, but it's fair to assume that I'm half way through life. The years ahead me will be very different from the ones of the past. I'll probably have more resources but less energy. It's like the part of the movie post…
The most common productivity hinderer is social media. It's effortless, brainless and in some cases harmless. But it's also one more thing which we usually forget- useless. We watch hundreds of posts, scroll through so many videos in a single day and are bombarded with so many information in a single day that it…
my transitional coworker, a coworker who took over my piano teaching job for me and who, during this transition, became my friend, is a musician more precisely stated, his main thing, as he sees it, is the music he makes, and this piano teaching gig, as he sees it, is just a side hustle -- it's the root that nourishes…
Today marks day 50 of my daily writing challenge on Nicheless. Writing daily is starting to become a habit and I find myself consciously reflecting on my experiences more often. I like it. I feel it really helps me to have more clarity in my mind. So I am definitely going to continue with this challenge. However, I…
I don’t have a niche. Or to be more precise, I probably have several different niches depending on who I’m talking to and what I’m doing. I talk about PR and public affairs with students and clients and fellow PR people. Within these fields, am I a tech specialist? A B2B specialist? A charity specialist? I talk about…
it's so easy to take our greatest strengths for granted simply because they come naturally to us. and conversely, to normalize behavior that simply conforms to our surroundings. without stopping to ask the hard questions - to quiet the constant noise begging us to react to it, to be fiercely autonomous, it's easy to…
Made me realised on how much growth I can do & still need to do Be interesting & don’t think so many - just do & live Too many thoughts inside your brain - you gotta divert the energy to around your world eyesight Take what’s most interesting and take it in. Ask interesting questions The energy and emotional…
More than half a decade ! I will be done with my current job soon, after having spent more than 6.5 years here. It feels strange , disconcerting , sad , exciting and a strange sense of relief as well. I don’t know what to feel or think anymore and hence am letting all sorts of emotions and feelings wash over me. This…
Day 3.5, 5:30 pm: does the new publication automatically subscribe everyone? what art for the first "intro" teaser--mom in the kitchen photo or a sketch? Day 4: writers' hour, 5 am, stuck on the monthly blog post which is about mom's newsletter. does this count toward my 15 minute goal of anything C&T related? yes. an…
What if we stuff Samosa with Kachori stuffing and vice versa. Which one would you call Samosa now? Is Samosa a Samosa because of its shape or how Intel says 'Look Inside'. Similarly, what makes us humans? Faltu baatein apart, Could someone please experiment with stuffing kachori with samosa stuffing and blah blah and…
Elon Musk said: "Love is the way, no matter what." For a man with four wives and twelve children, it may seem easy to say such a thing, but after giving it solid thought, he is true. Love is an intrinsic craving for every individual; if you were to ask anyone, they would undoubtedly recount their experiences with…
space walk two boots on the threshold land below breaking into dust ocean scrubbing air clean as the Earth turns the sun is always rising never resting in one state but the illusion is nice and it’s okay to linger there as long as you’re aware of it
The reason people are mentally and physically ill are usually social and economic. People need friends and a feeling of belonging. They need a sense of purpose. Financial security. A safe home and hope for the future. I read a story about a group of lonely, anxious strangers who were tasked with restoring a park over…
1. What's something that puts a smile on your face instantly? 2. Who's that someone you look forward to sharing the good news as soon as you receive it? 3. If money and responsibilities are taken out of the equation, would you still live in the same city? 4. What's your favourite childhood memory? 5. Do you feel…
do you ever feel that scientists are paid to investigate some pretty obvious things and that society as a whole is interested in very uninteresting things? i want to know about how human language got invented. not any specific language, but the concept of language itself. and how, if the language families don't have a…
1) Humans have a tendency to be drawn to binary distinctions. Whether you draw the divide between parties (R/D), or political inclinations (liberal / conservative), or population density (urban / rural), or social class (elite / deplorable), every distinction can ultimately be reduced to us vs. them. This primordial…
reflect & manifest reverb23 in january adapts the reverb10 event shared about in this post - https://nicheless.blog/post/before-%7C-reverb-in-december-20 "... online initiative to reflect on your year and manifest what’s next ... an opportunity to reflect on what's happened, and to send out reverberations for the year…
An alien spaceship lands on Earth. After several failed attempts to communicate, the first contact team's linguist, Louise Banks, brings a whiteboard to the next encounter. She writes "HUMAN" on the whiteboard. The aliens finally respond by projecting strange circular symbols into the air. Afterwards... COLONEL WEBER:…
The anti-hustle people will tell you that if you're procrastinating on something, it doesn't mean you're a lazy good-for-nothing loser. It means your subconscious is sending you an important message. At the time of writing, I've just spent 5 hours pointedly not doing the real-life paid work that has been stressing me…
