Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
Non-monetized. Is that even a term? I was recently creating a page on my Notion called "leisure + fun". It basically has 1 database with all my hobbies and leisure activities. But I soon realized that there's only one hobby or leisure activity that I regularly enjoy doing and haven't monetized. That's reading books.…
When a technologist designs a solution for a specific community, particularly one they live in, unintended consequences are more manageable. But when that same solution is massively scaled, we have to carefully consider three concepts: 1. The technologies we create reflect what we value, but they don’t necessarily…
How often in my life I have not taken the time to process my feelings. I know how to work hard and achieve success but I forget to celebrate with a period of rest and restoration. How many times in my life I have ran from one thing to the next without fully absorbing the monumental endeavors that I have achieved. The…
AhhA an unexpected result from design presents itself as 'pure' dynamic creation. the next step for many is to panic or deem that design a failure. i like to think of it in terms of post-rationalization. now that design can succeed in a new form to tell more stories...
you can convince yourself that you're happy. that whatever you're doing right now is healthy and that your friends love you - in a group or not. yet, you cant run away from the truth. heaven knows im miserable, i hope that death would be nicer to me then in that sense. i dont want to die but i dont want to live like…
I feel that verbal (and even nonverbal) communication is the most important thing for all beings! But it seems, that such capability deteriorates, becomes empty, or (and) false. Not only in hackneyed phrases of politicians or some of journalists, but generally... What about to discuss about possible reasons?
2023 - a new year. A new year where people will make and, inevitably, break new year resolutions. Like last year. I resolve to begin my writing journey…with consistency. I prefer short form - short and succinct. This is my aim. What will I be writing about? People say specificity wins. Maybe that will evolve over…
I really, really tought that I was above all this situation. That I left all in the past and moved on. That I, as a grow up human been, got my shit together and solved my problems by myself and. But now it came back. It looks like a tsunami in my head and in my chest. A tsunami AND a thunderstorm. AND a earthquake.…
The most common productivity hinderer is social media. It's effortless, brainless and in some cases harmless. But it's also one more thing which we usually forget- useless. We watch hundreds of posts, scroll through so many videos in a single day and are bombarded with so many information in a single day that it…
An abundance of information is good but unnecessary. Learning, knowing, and consuming information under the garb of curiosity is a neatly packed product sold to all internet users. Most marketing courses prescribe creating informative, valuable content to subtly signal the need for a product. This method of selling…
a new platform shows up on HN, so I'm here, just in case I miss out. I'm also on urbit, just in case I miss out. I'm also on urbit because I am a pseudocoder, but I like fp and weirdness. My real field is [humanities], and after five years I'm only beginning to come to terms with liking it, and being able to undertake…
Most of my disappointments arise from from poor expectations. It's true that material things will probably not make you happy but with non-material things, I feel the reason behind many disappointments is wrong expectations in the first place. Here are some examples You start a job and over time you're unhappy with…
What do we say to the god of procrastination? Not today.
Love is not monogamy, love is not possession or ownership. Love isn't rainbows and sunshine and love definitely isn't an instagram post for all to see. Love is a witness to what's left between two people when everything else has been torn away. Love is understanding, love is acceptance that things won't always be…
Ontem eu dormi a tarde, hoje vou dormir…
fuck on nights like these i wish i had the scent of a woman's hair to carry away all the pain and anxieties of tomorrow im just a broken man in search of a woman's touch just to hear her voice and lose myself in those giggles where is my lover? i just need to be held bury my head in her bust and lose myself in her…
i used to think that i am a programmer. i have friends who think they are programmers or designers or editors or traders etc, and i don't think that's a great way to describe yourself. i think a better way to describe yourself is to say that you are a problem solver, and i don't mean go be an entrepreneur, just think…
We waste too much time waiting. We wait for the clock to strike the perfect 9 AM, 10 AM, 2.30 PM, or 11 PM to resume work after a break. We'll scroll through a few more reels if there are 3 minutes to 5.30 PM. I used to do that while studying. I would arbitrarily take a break and then resume at half past something.…
Sick infants cry, some sick infants have increased respiratory rate. Assessment of respiratory rate is important for identifying the disease and assessing the general wellness of the child. This is pretty difficult to do when the infant is crying. This led me to wonder if the rate of vocalising?/phonation? while…
Prosperity is often confused with wealth. But wealth, at least in the traditional sense, is only its enabler. A certain amount of it is necessary, but no amount of it is sufficient. I define prosperity as the extent of your ability to do things for their own sake, and not solely as a means to an end. In other words,…
I am currently visiting a friend’s family in Nuremberg. One of the first things I noticed was the lack of healthy food in their kitchen. It’s filled with junk food, sugary snacks, and processed items. You can find unhealthy options everywhere. This, of course, has a huge impact on their kids' eating behavior. The…
Nowadays, I find myself overthinking what I write because so many eyes are observing. Judgment and fear arise, and I end up not posting at all. Writing for myself has become a liberating experience—I can pour all my thoughts into a post and then continue with my day, feeling relieved and lighter. This hesitation…
Are you new to journaling? You need to be journaling at night. Before you're off to bed, you need an opportunity to put thought into your day. Your experiences Words you said Actions you took What made you happy, or what made you mad. You will want to solve the problems that you face tomorrow. Or maybe you need to…
Como fui parar no norte do Peru? Para minha alegria ou não, estou aqui. Confesso que tive dias bem difíceis. Dias de solidão, e não de solitude. Questionei minha própria decisão várias vezes. Mas não vivo eu só de agora. Estou construindo a vida a longo prazo. Estou construindo a minha liberdade geográfica, emocional…
I saw a tweet by Democratic congressman Ritchie Torres accusing dissident journalist Glenn Greenwald of being a "useful idiot" for believing the fake backstory of recently elected Republican congressman George Santos. I know who the first two people are, and I've never heard of the third. I Google his name and the…
No words can pin down what we call reality, but words too are real
They say that not a single person on the planet can make something as simple as a pencil. The creation of a pencil - from the lead to the wood - is the culmination of a grand orchestra of people working together. Very few of them were were actively trying to make a pencil, but it's the collective effort that…
Walking around the space where Im gonna spend these couple years, what was once a dream and now its's reality, it's something that I still can not process and it feels that I'm a impostor. Not because I don't think I belong here, but just because I never thought I would had gotten here a couple years ago. I hope that…
Understanding budget is important for anyone to comprehend the fuctioning of taxes, home loans, stock portfolio and more It is when the Finance Leader of India decides which sectors will government invest in, what will the total expense be, how much revenue will India make - all the in next 12 months. This year's…
The golden sun dissolves into the forest which now looks like a painting. Warm wind kisses the cheek and tingles with her open hair. I lie down on the soft green grass with my friends. we listen to machine-made music from Britain. The air is crowded from the smoke of Davidoff. The mountains somehow resemble the folds…
An old colleague messaged me today about a memory he had of me. We haven't been in touch for a long time, so I was surprised at the message. I enjoy dancing. The times when all of us went out after work, I'd let my hair down. It was my first job after graduation. Our team was small, and most employee-manger rules…
My PKM includes not only fingertips to keyboard and screen to type but also fingers around a pen or pencil to write on paper. (Yes, I use Rocketbook. No, I don't have a tablet - yet.) Listening. When a prompt in LYT Workshop 9 was posted to share memorable podcasts, I immediately thought of and shared - this podcast…
I'm trying to write publicly at the same time authentically At the same time, without the performance pressure of likes, comments, RTs. Seems cool. Seems entertaining. Seems a good cathartic experience. I'm always in search of niching down. Hopefully this one would prove otherwise. I don't have to niche down. I can…
I recently published my first blog post - Learning To Write. Simply put, my plan for learning how to write is to force words out onto paper and see what sticks. Fine, in theory. But how do I put this plan into practice? How do I ensure that in 3 weeks, or 3 months, or 3 years I am still writing? This is an experiment…
i noticed that sometimes i am prone to self-deluding untruths. i have observed primarily two types of lies: (1) "i will do xyz" and i do not end up doing xyz (and this task has nothing to do with difficulty of achievement; if i wanted to do it, i would've done it. it is always something trivial) (2) "i am so excited…
I don't know how to write. This is my first blog post. For months now, I have agonised over how to write, why anyone would care about my writing and what the hell I would even write about. Over those months, no content has materialised on the paper in front of me. But why wait? The truth is that nobody cares about…
Today we had a lawyer friend of my dad and his 19 year old son who is about to study law visiting. In our conversation we started discussing AI and the future. This not only highlighted my deep immersion in the tech world but also surprised and somewhat triggered me by seeing once again just how naive some educated…
I never believed in those who ran "writing courses" or anyone who gave me a framework for writing. There is only one way to write and that is to sit at the typewriter and bleed. There have been so many days when I had to bang my head just to put a few sentences together. You can feel the words and almost form them but…
There is a lie embedded in the 'architecture of guilt', a lie so elegant it disguises itself as virtue. It says: you must earn your way back. That before you may begin again, you must first account for the wreckage, perform contrition, and prove that you are sorry. Only then, once the debt is settled, once the penance…
In late October 1983, Dad handed me 2 tickets for India-West Indies at Feroz Shah Kotla. Back then, watching live Test cricket was the pinnacle of entertainment for most teenage boys. "Take Nishit and go after school". Original intentions were noble. A change of clothes went into the school bag (didn't want the…
June 26, 2013. Jerry Seinfeld sits for an interview with Howard Stern. Stern asks about his routine - how Jerry constantly observes, constantly hunts for material, constantly thinks about comedy. Jerry gave an answer. Fuming with surprise, Howard Stern was like - "That's being at work 24 hours a day," Stern says.…
Skyggene gjør seg alltid større enn de er. Mørket tåler nesten ingenting. Det går i stykker av litt lys.
I had a dream that Kiese Laymon, Ta-Nehisi Coates, and Damon Young were hosting a writers' retreat somewhere verdant. It was me, Young, Laymon, Coates, Kenny Smith (of the NBA), and some writers I can't remember right now but we were all Black and saw ourselves as men. One was named Joel, I think. We were in the big…
Putting a lot of time into working; thats not the smart way to get money Should balance between both How much should you work And that makes me question - if I’m not working am I using the max of my capabilities because working just makes you stagnant! Am I reading, am I learning a course, gym, socialising, what am I…
So, I learned a few things over the weekend. Can anyone from a so-called third-world country like Indonesia guess the average cost of a one-bedroom apartment in New York City? It’s $4,778 per month or roughly IDR 79 million. Holy. Freaking. Airball. For that price, we could probably rent a room in Istana Bogor and…
Do we chase happiness or Do we just chase comfort? Do we enjoy Novelty or Do we just accept self created change? Do we want praise or Do we just want to be accepted by all?
