Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
I'm soon going to complete my 30th lap around the Sun. I'm not sure what life expectancy is these days, but it's fair to assume that I'm half way through life. The years ahead me will be very different from the ones of the past. I'll probably have more resources but less energy. It's like the part of the movie post…
I just watched a great movie about Franz Kafka, a famous German writer. What particularly struck me was the way he used words and language - so precise, so articulate, so aesthetic. There is a lot of untapped potential in our everyday use of language to express our thoughts and feelings.
My parents video call me everyday. It could sound like I am complaining but that's not it. I like that they do. Most days I do pick up the call regardless of if I am out, at a party or at a friend's place. Usually, the conversation goes as follows- where are you (when I'm out) did you eat? what's happening? what else…
Moving is expensive, specially when its to a country where you can only reach by plane, the baggage allowance is limited, so there is so many things that you have to buy. Everything is so expensive and I just realized that there are so many teeny tiny things that as a whole they add up, from spoons, plates, pots,…
Since the Supreme Court of the United States has punted Roe v. Wade back to a State issue, there has been debate and effort about explicitly protecting the right to abortion at the state or federal level. This issue is also touched upon by many governments worldwide. However, there is a more fundamental right…
The cold, empty space stares back at me: What if it doesn't resonate? What if I'm not pleased with it? Tick-tock More seconds elapse and I don't even have a draft to call first. It's an uncomfortable feeling. Staring across the chasm between the brilliant insight in your mind and the not-yet-articulated onto the…
I really miss YouTube. I gave it up for Lent and talked about it here. But I truly do miss being on the platform, talking with subscribers, watching videos in my free time, and creating helpful content for those looking to make intentional tech purchases. Luckily, I do have a good amount of sponsored videos lined up…
What I want to learn to figure out: how to forgive and forget? I think the reason I got triggered again is because I dealt with the Nelson story by painting him as the villain and moving on. But shoo dating him is just clear evidence that I can’t be right and it has deeply challenged my beliefs on that. If Nelson…
lately i've noticed that where you write has an impact on how you write. i don't mean where your body is, like cafe or your bedroom or a toilet stall, but i mean where your writing goes. it makes a difference what app, notebook, platform, program you use. it totally affects the way that the information is conveyed and…
Since 2016, or even earlier before Apple introduced just a tab in App Store for Games. I have argued Apple should separate their App Store and Game Store. By continue charging 30% for Games, and rethink the whole model for App Store, they would not have been end up like they are today. Resentment from developers.…

(original: 2007 Aug 17) fill in the blank with a word or phrase ... Here we go: 1. My favorite childhood toy was ... jacks. 2. My favorite childhood game was ... red rover. 3. The best movie I ever saw as a kid was ... willy wonka & the chocolate factory. 4. I don't do it much but I enjoy ... bowling. 5. If I could…
It goes without saying that everything we do, there's reason why we do it. But recently, I'm thinking if I'm doing A, and not doing B, it's not that I have a reason to do A and no reason to do B. This assumes I've thought clearly about what to do and what not to do. But that's wrong. Maybe I haven't given it enough…
The moments of feeling anxious or a negative thought entering the mind are few and far in between now. They exist, I just need the time to summon them and they'll be prompt in their arrival. There's something that stops me from summoning them or engaging for too long with these thoughts. I don't think there is…
What do you when you are feeling bad? Does the whole day need to be bad? Think of things that make you happy. Do a favorite activity. Help someone. Go outside. These are great solutions. They all came from the participants in a Tae Kwon Do class. I was proud that the first solution came from my five-year-old…
What is existence but a search for answers that never quite come. Existence reflects patterns. Patterns that one must recognize in order to survive. What if... the internal discomfort of specific patterns exists for a reason? What if... the shaming of pattern-recognition is coordinated for the sake of mental…
Today I submitted my thesis and fully enjoyed life afterwards. Cooking great food, laying in the sun, kayaking in the lake, enjoying the sunset next to the water, going into a woodfired sauna - I kind of understand now, why Finnish people are the happiest in the world.
1. my morning walk on the street curved along the beach 2. books. im currently reading "muhammad" (a historical biography; i'm trying to read a historical biography of the "founders" or figureheads of every major religion...so far i've read about jesus and there was not much information to satisfy but this specific…
The mind is a curious place. It's a place for ideas, a place for rest, a safe place for the softening of chaos, distress and pain. It is powerful, intense, bewildering and surprising all at once. Most importantly, it stores an immense trove of memories and information, some conscious (and even embarrassing!), but most…
This emptiness I feel. Every song I hear leads me back to you. I want to get you off my mind. Trust me I'm trying. The romance was short but the feeling is strong. Maybe it's for the best. Maybe I missed an angel. Maybe I dodged a bullet. I can't say. You should be my queen. It feels right to have you adorn that…
the first thing if you give it more time than it's worth. Try not to be alarmed. It will come back to you.
I wanted to have a stellar career early amongst my peers. For that I started to learn things of my interest which later could become a part of my skillset. But while interning at Blinkit, I listened to my manager's career transitions from Marketing to Sales and all. This made me search skillsets of specific job roles…
Walking the streets of CBD by those towering buildings, cycling along ECP, trekking to Bukit Timah and sipping on beer at the hawker centres, I thought about you for the first time in ages. I lost you when I was 9. Ever since, subconsciously and actively, I hived away whatever few memories I had of you and pushed you…
A couple of days ago, I was really struggling to come up with ideas for that day's writing challenge. Feeling stuck, I was riding an electric scooter through the nighttime streets to get home. With the rush of wind and the feeling of moving forward, ideas started flowing. I came up with concepts for six different…
The anti-hustle people will tell you that if you're procrastinating on something, it doesn't mean you're a lazy good-for-nothing loser. It means your subconscious is sending you an important message. At the time of writing, I've just spent 5 hours pointedly not doing the real-life paid work that has been stressing me…
There was a two hour period between the time I got to office and had my first cup of coffee where nothing happened. The coffee machine hadn't been setup for the day yet. Two inoperable hours of walking to the office kitchen every 15 mins or so, hoping I would see the glow of the LEDs in the miniature display box. Such…
Young people tend to be more reformist, and older individuals more revivalist. There is something about aging which makes people revivalist. Revivalism is induced by a cocktail, which is one part nostalgia and three parts lived experiences. A very hard liquor, it causes permanent and irreversible damage to the brain…
you had a lot of big adventures new sights and people. i had little of that. i don't mind that it's not the same for you for me, your friendship is the best thing to have happened to my year. i bask in the glow that you you're still here of course i'm still here sometimes i find myself waiting but i don't mind that…
I have done okay as dad this month. While my son did tell me that "I sucked", it was only after he lost control of his temper trying to fit a couple of Lego pieces together, and needed to be separated from them. I take that as a win. When he runs home from the bus, he will give me a great big hug, I will tell him that…
Hoje é o aniversário do Ola, o meu marido.
i’ve been rejected so many times in the last year or so. Countless job apps, applied to accelerators for funding, no nothing in return, even reached out to contacts. Nope. Gotten kinda numb these days. Must not lose hope. Maybe better days are ahead..
I scored 11 out of 11 here. This has been, I suppose, the greatest source of psychic pain. It’s hard to cope, when you’re constantly reminded that the way your mind works is a mess. There are benefits to this psychic disorganization, it just takes some time and understanding to accept the benefits. I’ve accused myself…
Every Sunday my family used to go to church, have breakfast outside, come home and mom used to make chicken biryani, which used to taste delicious. After that meal, my brother and I would pour ourselves a glass of cold drink(Thumbs up, mostly. If you don't like thumbs up, we are not friends.) and enjoy while watching…
The best writing I've read around writing and marketing books lately has to be Rob Fitzpatrick's 'Write useful books'. The thesis is that book marketing is broken and the only way people buy books anymore is when a friend, or someone they respect, recommends one. Therefore it book marketing is largely down to writing…
I recently started listening to an audiobook called 'Story worthy' and in that the writer states that every movie can be boiled down to 5 secs scenes of transformation. I realized this can be true for any movie, tv show or any other form of entertainment. So, I had a thought that if we think what our 5 secs would be,…
Sean Strickland has shocked the world. Last night he became the new UFC Middleweight Champion of the World by beating Israel Adesanya in Sydney, Australia. Both fighters are quite the characters with totally different fighting styles. Strickland stuck to his guns and damn near ended the fight in the first round with a…
This will likely happen many times over. I'm not necessarily building towards something, which makes this pseudo-habit hard to complete. Which brings up an interesting thought for me: am I conditioned to do things if and only if it leads or builds towards something? I definitely have this mindset these days. While not…
Remember that time I had a meltdown and we talked my worries away over some terrible whiskey and dangerous Oreos, with rain pattering over the rooftop? You told me that you believe life is now- a discussion with a friend over a drink, some cookies, some tears, some laughs, and all the love in the world. We spoke about…
I have rejoined the Linking Your Thinking (LYT) cohort. Currently in Workshop 9, I am serving as a mentor, as well as enjoying updates the founder and host, Nick Milo, has created. An exercise from yesterday's first live super session (via Zoom, of course) included "STIRring knowledge" - Space, Time, Importance,…
This past weekend was my annual getaway trip with my two best girlfriends. Even though the three of us have never lived in the same city, we are best friends. This year’s annual meet-up was our 35th. We know everything there is to know about each other. My friends and I do the typical best-friend activities: Eating…
Around Christmas every year, I trawl through The Guardian and NYT best books of the year lists. Then, there's a visit to the bookshop and a supplementary Amazon order. The Guardian's 2021 list of best crime books included a review of Riccardino, by the late Italian author Andrea Camilleri, who I hadn't heard of…
you keep shouting my name on the sidelines so much so, that - unconsciously, of course, and probably without intent - you became my biggest cheerleader, even when i don’t do things exactly right i’ve never had that. then, i noticed that you apply the same softness in other aspects of our… acquaintance the first to ask…
When you sit and stop listening to your cravings, stop giving in to your aversions, stop following the “should”s, just sit, eventually you realize: wanting isn’t craving. they’re not even similar. A common response to “What if you just did whatever you want all the time?” is “Oh, I’d just get fat and play video…
Think while do, but do more than think - is what a youthful soul would do Join more events meet more people do not be afraid nobody can bring you down except yourself Energy levels - always want to know the latest updates Not afraid of asking questions Knowing that eventually it will go to you Knowing the latest…
