I Consider My Journal One Of My Best Friends
This past weekend was my annual getaway trip with my two best girlfriends.
Even though the three of us have never lived in the same city, we are best friends. This year’s annual meet-up was our 35th. We know everything there is to know about each other.
My friends and I do the typical best-friend activities:
Eating
Shopping
Talking
Laughing
It’s not all surface interactions. We support each other and problem-solve.
During this year’s trip, we agreed we would each pursue more creative activities. We talked about what to do in retirement. (I'm the only one retired) One of my girlfriends decided to give notice of retirement.
Talking through life's possibilities is what friends are for. I can't imagine my life without them.
When we made our shared decisions about future activities, I realized journaling helps me do the same every day. Journaling clarifies my problems, concerns, and wishes. The clarity leads me to decisions.
Of the three of us, I am the only one who journals. How lucky am I!
Journaling plays the role of a friend. I can't imagine my life without it.
