Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
I. Humans began their story on this Earth as brutish, violent, tribal knuckle-draggers, barely distinguishable from their ape relatives. Over thousands of years of gradual genetic and cultural evolution, humanity has marched through history to achieve progressively more peaceful and prosperous societies. We're slowly…
I've been thinking about how civilizations of the future would organize their data. What mechanism would a galaxy use to work together and share reliable information accurately and instantly? I started thinking about our own history and how we manage knowledge in our most complex societies. As much as sci-fi movies…
Today, when even the worst SM content format ever created (Reels/Shorts) tries to be "informative", its clear that we are living in the age of huge information excess. It is made worse by the "good intention" of continuously learning. So, we have access to limitless information and we consume a lot of it because of…
i was reading her lyrics and thought words like that are very bookish and it turns out she's an avid reader!! apparently she likes to go to big sur to read in peace relatable i escaped to monterey once when i felt that i couldn't make sense of my life, and it gave me all the magic i needed anyway now i wanna read…
a little bummed that the sun goes down at 5:30 and at 6:00 it feels like midnight i like the night but still it is far too early to feel like i have to start cooking... i'm starting to like poetry (thanks, sylvia plath) also i am no longer afraid that i won't have time to read all the books i want to read i am now…
Intuition is subconscious pattern matching. When your gut tells you something feels right, it's often smart to listen, even if you can't rationalise your reasoning. However, there are situations where listening to your gut is a dumb idea. Here are a few rules I try to follow, although I usually fail: (1) Don't rely…
I googled synonyms for happiness because I didn't want to sound cliché but all of them sounded too pretentious. Lol. This is just a personal take on the feeling that everyone is so bent on finding. I’d read headlines off of newspapers and magazines that told me stories of people and the lives they lived. To me at that…
2023 - a new year. A new year where people will make and, inevitably, break new year resolutions. Like last year. I resolve to begin my writing journey…with consistency. I prefer short form - short and succinct. This is my aim. What will I be writing about? People say specificity wins. Maybe that will evolve over…
"He was angry with Jeanie for not having encourage the Laird - He was angry with the Laird for requiring encouragement - and he was angry with himself for being angry with himself for being angry at all on the occasions." -Walter Scott, The Heart of Mid-Lothian Everyone has moments of extreme emotion. It's not healthy…
Critics are everywhere. No matter what anyone does, how great of an achievement it is, you will have a set of people waiting to belittle them. It is very easy to be a critic. It takes no courage, no effort and no dedication to say — "Told you so they'd fail". There are people out there who literally wait for others to…
What is Life? if we were to die one day, And what is Life? if we're gonna live forever.
Happy Halloween. May your candy bucket be full and the odds ever be in your favor.
At least when it comes to new forms of social media. Kinda crazy that there are still less than 2000 accounts on this site right now. I guess we will see if it lasts. I'll try to give some random updates from time to time.
yeah yeah, the year's actually almost over and we're quickly approaching feral consumerism and mariah carey season, but i haven't posted on any of my other blogs since 2021 and have once again found a new one to play with, so technically i'm not wrong. big fan of this monospaced minimalism. at this point i'm just…
Waiting rooms at hospitals and Doctors clinics are possibly a place where a clock or contraption that measures time, don't have much use. A minute on a clock vis a vis a minute from when the Doctor reads your report on her / his screen and shares the results with you, seem much longer than a minute. While the clock…
(original: 2006 October 18) a quick acknowledgment of WHY i go to my h.s. reunion - louis = devil (as a term of endearment, of course) - i made a deal with louis at the 1st reunion (the 5 yr) - hence, i made a deal with the devil i do not back out on deals (most of the time) some of my memories from the 5 year reunion…
I've been quick to dismiss most books as too long. Here's my logic: Books need to be thick enough for customers to feel like they're getting their money's worth at a bookstore. Hence, publishers create incentives that result in books being 10X longer than they should be. However, I recently discovered an added benefit…
the startling, borderline terrifying -- yet strangely comforting in its reassurance of purpose -- ephiphany: this is FOREVER, this writing gig, this cook & tell revival. like the jarring middle-of-the-night realization in early sobriety. and then, as it did almost a quarter century ago, the universe gave a little…
Every successful entrepreneur Find their own set of problems Not waiting for someone to tell the problem And move No they know how to get there Knowledge is a form of power. You can see that in meetings, in conversations Who’s the most outspoken and displayed confident Has known how to direct their words And ensure…
A very quick digital collage. I like playing with collage but I don't know if they're any good. Though how can you go wrong? I might pick this one up again and play with it further. Maybe I can just store these here.
Supriya Roychoudhury's piece Hathi on FiftyTwo.in is clear in my memory both because it was excellent and because it was one of the few bright spots during the second wave of Covid in April-May 2021. (https://fiftytwo.in/story/hathi/) It told the touching tale of Hathi, an elephant presented by India to the Kabul Zoo…
We must know that there's a difference between being free and doing nothing. I'm a type of person who keeps track of things, set reminders, and make to-do lists. These are few of the ways to sort out my fucked-up prioritisation. But there are days, where I've got work to do, targets to complete, goals to fulfil, and I…
This was a crazy week for Azuki holders. On March 30th, the Azuki team airdropped not just 1, but 2 "Somethings" to each wallet for every Azuki in that wallet. Meaning holding 1 azuki = 2 somethings, and 20 = 40 somethings. A lot of speculation has started on what exactly is in this box that we were airdropped, but…
Im normally used to have a routine that is very stable, not much going on, but this past 2 weeks have been very intense for me, from events, meeting people, moving and figuring out this this country I have been picking up very bad habits cause I have so many things I want and need to fit in my schedule. Now I realize…
I prefer packing last minute. It has helped me pack better and not forget the essential items. But this preference is in stark contrast with that of my parents. My mum packs about 2-3 days in advance, and my dad at least the day prior. My preference started changing when I began traveling without my parents. At first,…
My life has been rough lately. I am stressed, sleep-deprived, and unable to function well. This year is my second attempt at applying to grad school programs, and the journey has been anything but easy. I have to keep retaking the GRE, write multiple essays (even just for one school!), and conduct original…
It’s not how smart the guy is But how passionate he is towards each thing, how interested and motivated based on his own desire That is why you do not simply let yourself tear and wear away given what life has thrown to you People has it even far more worse To operate based on pain rather than joy Is harder to…
Tomorrow I have - hopefully - the last university exam of my life. I'm glad. What a stupid way to assess a person's abilities.
Knows peoples intelligence Think of high school - people listens to people like E or outspoken people more Now in adult working life - imagine why you would talk to JJ but not Aug It’s because he’s there for you to listen And people tend to go to the weaker person more if you think about…
Im eating a Ferrero rocher chocolate bar (YES THAT EXISTS; at least in italy) and drinking coconut milk (to prevent Alzheimers) The sugar is diminishing the effects, unfortunately, maybe. And I’m watching a short film on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KORZf5JL1hU And it is raining Hit me, inspiration. Just…
Today, I met with a friend who was upset about a recent experience at a car dealership. He felt disrespected by the salesman and was still angry and frustrated about it even a week later. We discussed how holding onto these emotions wasn't helpful for him and that with more information, his feelings could change. I…
No better feeling than new tools day. Find a spot for it to live, maybe do the job you bought it for, then put it away to rest, making sure not to disturb it too much. No. Use your tools. Tools are mean to be used. If you don't use them, you deprive them of their purpose in life. Use your iPhone, get it sandy. Use…
today is sunday and the air has a quiet and restful quality and i have decided to go with the energy and do whatever i want to do, wander with my mind. and youtube is recommending me videos with 43 likes by people with 2.23k followers [i'm talking about the channel tokyochemist; she talks about books] and i am so…
In order of least to most dangerous: 1) People who are openly driven by ambition and self-interest to amass wealth and power 2) People who are secretly driven by ambition and self-interest to amass wealth and power while publicly professing noble intentions to benefit the public 3) People who actually believe they are…
Has any man ever responded positively to a woman offering unsolicited astrological information?
turned on the water heater to shower and then was like "nah" smelled my armpit, and confirmed my "nah" i smell like nothing.
The times, they are changing. We're in transition mode between a decade long bull run, and a recession that will last for who knows how long. If you stay quiet and listen carefully, you'll hear the pessimists collectively chant "I told you so". I don't blame them. They only get to be right once a decade. Meanwhile,…
For the last month or so, I have been sitting on coding up a weekend project to launch for my next "startup" or web app. Whatever it is. I have been procrastinating, again. The idea is simple. It's a read-only portal for all of my wallets. Google Pay, Venmo, Paypal, Cash App, Strike, and many more. I took my kids to…
(literally 100 whole metric tons consisting only of $100 bills) i would: - buy forests/jungles/islands (as well as politicians) and declare these areas "protected national parks" - buy land that's currently being used for cultivating palm oil and mining lithium/etc. and reforest them, reintroduce native plants and…
The author, Dr. Benjamin Hardy, has written extensively about your Future Self. It's the single clearest way to create motivation, excitement and purposeful in your life. When you can imagine what you want to be in the future, you can feel it. You can plan for it. You can build processes into your life that helps you…
A dream is like a seed in a garden. The right conditions must exist for a seed to achieve its full potential. The environment must yield the right amount of water, sunlight, air, nutrients. A gardener initiates the process and works with nature to sustain it. With dreams, we mistakenly believe that everything is up to…
I usually listen to music on YouTube (and think YouTube premium is rather underrated). I particularly like to watch musicians in their natural state and not 'performing'. Radio station interviews/ broadcasts are a standard fixture. A couple of days ago, I stumbled upon a Tiny Desk Concert by Alicia Keys on NPR. She…
''We come for the jobs and stay for the weather.'' Famous words by a friend when I could not stop raving about the cool Bangalore evenings in May. Unlike coastal Mumbai, Bangalore which is set in a valley is a basin with pockets of land that collect water, eventually giving rise to lakes. I have almost no working or…
Since the beginning of the web, people have been making personal websites. But when someone makes a personal website, it is forever an exhibition to the public and cannot truly be a private, authentic space. Recently, the concept of a “digital garden” has become popular. It’s like a personal website but welcomes a…
