Let It Be
A dream is like a seed in a garden.
The right conditions must exist for a seed to achieve its full potential. The environment must yield the right amount of water, sunlight, air, nutrients.
A gardener initiates the process and works with nature to sustain it.
With dreams, we mistakenly believe that everything is up to us. Plants may be able to depend on nature, but we must be gods depending only on ourselves. There’s a sense of responsibility for the entire process of bringing the dream to fruition.
This is a misconception.
Even in the realm of accomplishing the things in our imagination, nature is still at play. We are the gardener tending to the plot of our dreams. Achieving our goals is less about doing and more about understanding the environment needed to trigger sprouting and sustain growth.
The rest is a matter of nature, time, and luck.
Repeatedly checking the dirt and agonizing over whether a seed will sprout is pointless. Our worry cannot speed up the process. Neither can our apathy stop nor slow it down.
We can do everything right and not get the plant we want. We can haphazardly throw a seed in the grass and get something we’ve never imagined.
We can choose to wear ourselves down by doing or restore ourselves by letting it be.
