Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
I wasn't receiving any emails for days. I had been too busy to really question why, even though I was expecting responses from various outreaches. The issue became clear when I needed a verification code for a signup and it didn't come through. I sent myself a test email - nothing. Total panic set in thinking about…
This day was one of those days that looks like the beginning of the end for remote work. The day started off with our retro. And while there were 10 people in the "room", no one added anything to the virtual retro board. Now frankly, I could give a shit about which rituals we employ to book-end our sprints, whether we…
every time you watch a piece of media from the past (2013 was 12 years ago!) you get an awful nostalgia of the way things used to be. i am a sucker for the past, no matter how much it sucked at its own time. i've been watching Orange is the New Black (2013-) past few days, completely overhauling my schedule and…
I was born in the late 80s, which means I grew up playing Starcraft. For those of you not born in the 80s Starcraft is a computer game where you'd build little armies and conquer the map. There were the future humans called Terrans. There were fancy hi-tech aliens with their spaceships and laser beams called the…
We all have sense of self, an identity that we are known for but in reality the sense of self doesn’t actually exist. Your perception and thoughts of the world are born from the environment you are now in and the environment you grow up as a child in. Your character is what you are to others, what you show others is…
It's so strange that inspite of having the latest gadgets in the hand and the high end technology we have, we are still unable to communicate with our friends and relatives. I always feel that we are not moving forward but moving backwards. In olden days i mean the era where to make a call to a outstation you had to…
For a while now, the question of what niche should I pick for my public writing has haunted me. For some reason, an OCD-like obsession haunts me in figuring out my niche and starting to post online. I started with Medium, writing 2 articles on which I felt some impostor syndrome. While they felt close to my heart and…
These words have jumped out to me daily, the last 6 months has been happy and rough, I carry the heavy weight of "I wish, I had". I have carried this weight year after year, I know what to do but I find it difficult to do, back to ground zero every single time, solving for everyone except me, getting away with the…
Is knowing the things but spending time to argue/fight your way through things that don’t matter. Like PS circling round and round the words she chose; trying to prove a point where all of us knew there’s no use Boomer is a derogatory term. Being boomer is a sign of being stupid; not clear of what you wanted to convey…
Historically, overly-extractive business models eventually face pressure from the public, shareholders, and regulators. Once-unstoppable cigarette companies have been forced to pay the public health costs of their products and fund billion-dollar anti-smoking marketing campaigns. The market conditions for renewable…
my friends and i are narcissists we think we're pharaohs among peasants
All what we did was based on subconscious…? -B Consciousness is just a self-explanation to our actions/behaviour? Doesn’t mean that your fate is set - whatever experiences you faced is the subconscious that decides on what you’re already taken And your conscious mind is the aftereffects Humans have emotions and that…
Phone service, internet, electricity, hot water and all these things that are used to, that we use everyday, the change of not having them from one day to another is drastic. Yesterday, a huge storm approached and I hasn’t stopped since then, it took all of those things away from my house, it was 1 am and in my mind I…
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh Exhausted from the day. tomorrow excites me. a dream of tomorrow as i sleep will be worth the efforts of today...
As I see myself on pictures I’m not happy with how I look. I been self aware that i’m a big boy and have been all my life, only take action as if was seasonal work and don’t commit to myself. Looking at this picture really makes me reflect a lot on my bad habits and how I’m really just poisoning myself.. I don’t have…
Meeting people with same experiences as me makes me so excited, in a certain way we just connect in another level, cause they just understand you, they lived through the same thing. Im really lucky to meet so many people that are similar and different at the same time.
These last 600 days have been the most toughest period of my entire life. I have cried my eyes out, felt miserable, sat like furniture for days on end & contemplated committing suicide. This all happened around my folks at home, never did they ever came up to me ask : what is brewing ? how am I feeling ? how can they…
Twitter is different from Instagram and YouTube because Twitter is where politics and journalism live. Journalists construct the world. The media world the rest of us live in. If you influence Twitter, you influence the ink that fills the pages of culture more broadly. TV producers and reporters are listening to what…
So I have subjected myself to around 30 minutes of scrolling through LinkedIn. Ive been feeling a bunch of negative emotions stirring up in my belly and I would like to analyze them. 1. Twinge of regret/ FOMO - BlissClub seems to be putting great posts about their folks and culture and Sudhanshu seems to be a great…
A few weeks back, my partner (a chef in her own right) began the process of bringing to life sour dough starter. We named him Barry. Just a few days later, she had to leave and I was left alone with Barry. And well I had to learn how to take care of him, which has been a highlight of 2023 so far. Every evening, I had…
I've come to realize how so much of my life has been circumscribed by fear; of people, of loss, of consequences (intended or otherwise). How that fear has quietly and silently shaped what I've done or not done, and how it has hung over my life, forever clouding my ability to see hope on the horizon. What I would have…
I had a rather productive morning as I did not laze around till afternoon so pats on the back for that. There have been countless times I've refused to see the efforts I actually put in & pretty much kept overthinking about how everything I do makes no sense. I know the root cause & have been working on it for a…
One receives a phone call at 7.30 in the morning. An excited and almost tear jerked voice says they’ve hit water at 32 feet. The borewells in the region are at 780 feet. I can hear the joy in the voice with a slight surprise which is veiled by relief. The city coughs its dry spell in exploited ground waters and lack…
I am feeling very overwhelmed by my work. It seems like a never ending pit of tasks to do. No matter what i do to figure it out, it is still pending. More and more and more. I cannot seem to reach any conclusion. Perhaps this is because it is such menial, manual work. Perhaps because it is the extent of…
Today, I'll be going to the gym. Since starting my training journey in August 2022, I've made significant progress. Before that, I had been suffering from hemiplegic migraine attacks since my early 20s which left me feeling drained for days. I reached a point where simple tasks like applying shampoo or inflating car…
Today I realised that most of the NICU(neonatal intensive care unit) everywhere are filled with babies with some problem related to their lungs. Which made me think, wow that’s a lot of problem and infection happening in one particular organ, which led me to think about which organ systems are exposed to the external…
In the past, I struggled so much to fall asleep. Every night was a real-life nightmare, with my brain refusing to shut down and winding up in all these hypothetical scenarios that brought me anxiety. But strangely, that doesn’t happen when I read before going to bed. Reading before sleeping, apart from making my eyes…
Have you ever have conversations You think you wants to be ready before And you slight regretted you only get to think of what you think and should’ve said One minute after what you said. You can only be ready When you keep thinking about it When your mind is occupied about the thing You can’t let yourself caught off…
What does that even mean? I guess it's good advice if you're naturally eloquent. But what about for those of us that aren't? "Write like you talk" sounds great but even just looking at it on the screen... it looks a bit odd if I'm being honest. Guess I can't knock it until I try it. I have a tendency I inherited from…
A thought on editing and proofreading, especially of your own writing. Most people, other than diehard digital evangelists, agree that reviewing a print out helps correct errors and make improvements that you might not have spotted on the screen. This sits alongside the idea, supported by research (see the article…
I think that´s the feedback I've gathered over the last 4 months or so. It's been mostly this year that I've been completely independent, working on my own, that I've seen it. I've had some hits in the past. Some of like people around call "the 15 mins of fame". And had some peaks in certain occasions. But nothing…
June 26, 2013. Jerry Seinfeld sits for an interview with Howard Stern. Stern asks about his routine - how Jerry constantly observes, constantly hunts for material, constantly thinks about comedy. Jerry gave an answer. Fuming with surprise, Howard Stern was like - "That's being at work 24 hours a day," Stern says.…
Two young fish were swimming along. An older fish swimming the other way nods at them and says, “How’s the water?” The two young fish swim on for a bit, then one of them says, “What the hell is water?”[1] According to Alan Kay, thanks to the above exchange, the IQ of each of the two younger fishes increased by 80…
In Biology WBC stands for White Blood Cells and RBC stands for Red Blood cells , but this is not about biology . This is about a game , a game of football to be precise , where two brilliant teams went all out for the prestigious champions league trophy . On may 28th , the UEFA Champions League final was played in…
From Write of Passage, Peek-a-Boo and Pocket Pool - https://www.shirleyfrivera.com/blog/peek-a-boo-and-pocket-pool - the following are edited excerpts "... where what you saw was not quite the complete reality of what it was." COFFEE BREAK ... awarded an unprecedented salary increase. Cornered by a Principal in a…
Cara, a trilha sonora…
I'm always surprised when I find out that I'm not who I thought I am. When I was younger, I thought of myself as a go-getter. Someone who pursued. A manic worker. But I find satisfaction now in not pursuing every possibility. In being selective and leaving a lot of room and time to digest and think rather than just…
What distinguishes a democracy from mob rule? A couple of things, but chief among them is the legal protection of individual rights. You can't hang all the redheads just because the majority wills it. Redheads have as much of a right to life as their brown-haired fellow citizens - not more, not less. The cracks start…
Where I'm from, asking your waiter about the ingredients in a dish usually prompts one of two responses: 1) "You can't have this, this, or this. But this and this are safe to eat." 2) "Uh, I'll ask the kitchen and get back to you." While visiting London, I was really surprised that the near universal response was…
When you're younger, you are encouraged to be ambitious. As the years fly by, you learn the important of accepting. Of late, I've found myself in a tricky spot - figuring out the right balance of ambition and acceptance. I would consider myself an ambitious person. There's a lot I think I can achieve and when I look…
Trusting your capabilities when you don't have systems is what imposter syndrome might feel like. Because When you don't have systems, you end up being lazy, lethargic and looking for perfection and constantly thinking about how to make things better but you don't have the infra or you're not trying hard enough to…
Advice from successful media creators must be taken with a pinch of salt. "Start writing online". "Start a podcast". "Start a YouTube channel". Okay, but hold on. Imagine two scenarios: 1) An online writer making a $500K a year 2) An investor making $5 million a year Both love what they do equally. Both work the same…
I recently saw a photo on LinkedIn of someone I met a few years ago. I felt an unexpected resistance to respond, that moment sparked a deeper thought. At any stage of life, you hold a certain view of yourself and often assume that others see you the same way. I call this a self-image snapshot: a frozen perception of…
Living an independent has been the goal. Although I earn, I haven't that goal yet. Let's plan for it. Let's do it.
