Communication Gap

It's so strange that inspite of having the latest gadgets in the hand and the high end technology we have, we are still unable to communicate with our friends and relatives.

I always feel that we are not moving forward but moving backwards. In olden days i mean the era where to make a call to a outstation you had to book a trunk call and then wait for your time to talk to other person.
There used to be telegram messaging where we used to send urgent messages like a morse code. As every alphabet or word was chargeable. Those days even though communication was difficult, still there was that personal touch when you spoke. Even for the telephone also that touch was still there.
Things started to go downhill when suddenly smartphones came and whatsApp came as the messenger. Initially we were glued and excited, but over time that died down and now the person does not message nor does he or she wish on festivals. It has become so bad that every festival message also has become a forward or a GIF.
That personal touch is not there any more and we are not in touch with our friends like we used to be earlier. That gap has arisen and is getting wider day by day.
Every conversation is now mere a transaction and nothing more. People stop asking how are you and are more interested to know who are you and how much are you making?
Materialism is ruling the world and the internet is adding the butter to that oil.

This is never ending. It will only get worse and not improve. Whatever it be make that connection and let the person be the true friend and not just a transaction.
