Overcoming Migraines: My Fitness Journey
Today, I'll be going to the gym. Since starting my training journey in August 2022, I've made significant progress. Before that, I had been suffering from hemiplegic migraine attacks since my early 20s which left me feeling drained for days.
I reached a point where simple tasks like applying shampoo or inflating car tires would leave me exhausted and weak. One day, I envisioned two paths: one leading to further deterioration of my health and the other involving training, dieting, and exercising. The challenge with the latter was that working out initially made me feel worse instead of better.
Despite this obstacle, I decided to take control of my life by creating a workout plan. Starting small with just 10 minutes of light cardio every other day before bedtime helped counteract the negative effects exercise had on me at first. Gradually, I incorporated resistance bands into my routine and built consistency over time.
As a result of these efforts, not only did I lose over 20 kilos but also started feeling better overall. Now training six days a week for an hour each session includes CrossFit high-intensity workouts, strength training, bodybuilding-style exercises as well as cardiovascular activities.
Although intense workouts sometimes still trigger migraines for me personally; however now they are manageable because it's outweighed by how good exercise makes me feel overall!
The most transformational aspect has been inspiring family members who have joined in on this fitness journey too! This reminds us all about our duty to ourselves – being our best selves so we can effectively lead others around us while embracing hard work and consistency as keys to success in life.
Just remember, You can have pain but you don't need to suffer... Suffering is 'always' optional...
