Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
There's a lot to learn from watching an ice skating class. Let me paint a picture so you can imagine what I see. A big round ice rink with about 50 people with varying levels of skill. There some who skate as if this were the Olympics and there others who resemble penguins trying to maintain their balance. You have…
1/n My first Nicheless post. You know ... experimenting. One thing that I do not quite yet get is the word count of 300. The site very clearly reads; No fluff. Just 300 words. Each post has one (optional) image. Followed by a maximum of 300 words. Long enough as to allow for nuance. Short enough as to not bore your…
Digitalization has become an epoch: a legend of our time, promising leverage, access, and a cure for systemic inequities. Policymakers and companies alike present it as a universal solution: once technology is introduced, progress will follow. And in many cases, it has; making industries more efficient, records more…
When you're a young, high-potential kid, you're told of the things you can be: "you're brilliant, maybe you'll be a doctor" "you're so clever, you could be an inventor someday" "you're so convincing with your opinions, you'd be a great lawyer" In college, most of us start to specialize: accounting majors become…
There is a word in Hindi called 'theherav.' It comes from the Hindi word theherna(to stop), but theherav doesn't mean to stop. It means something related to a person's character that allows them to feel collected most of the time. You know how many people make being clumsy their personality? A person with theherav…
It hit me today. The realization didn't hit me like a ton of bricks. (Like some people would say.) But it did arrive to my conscious awareness. What am I talking about? Well, the fact that people don't do that of taking time and space out of their mundane routine. Like what I can write in the following paragraphs can…
Some need coffee to stay awake daily. Some don't. And some like me, can drink coffee and stay awake, yet quit and not feel sleepy. However, recently, when I go back to drinking coffee, I find my naps light and shallow and my sleep at night disturbed. They are just not as deep as not drinking coffee. So a thought just…
I remember I started writing blog posts about 13 years ago, during my gap year when I was preparing for my university entrance exam, kind of like the SAT. But when one of my college friends found my blog, I suddenly felt so embarrassed that someone I knew had read it. I ended up deleting the whole thing. At the time I…
''We come for the jobs and stay for the weather.'' Famous words by a friend when I could not stop raving about the cool Bangalore evenings in May. Unlike coastal Mumbai, Bangalore which is set in a valley is a basin with pockets of land that collect water, eventually giving rise to lakes. I have almost no working or…
I love Neil Pasricha's approach on 'being happy first'. Be happy first, then your best work will come. It doesn't work the other way.
Today is Mother’s Day but, as I write this, none of my family has remembered. I don’t really mind. I know I’ll get an embarrassed apology at some point later today or tomorrow. I do know they love me. But I’m going to remember it for my own mum. A couple of months before her death, she told me I didn’t need to deliver…
Sick infants cry, some sick infants have increased respiratory rate. Assessment of respiratory rate is important for identifying the disease and assessing the general wellness of the child. This is pretty difficult to do when the infant is crying. This led me to wonder if the rate of vocalising?/phonation? while…
A new visual announcement has been piped in to the lounge at my corporate day job, proudly announcing that our CEO was recently crowned "1 most influential" by some self-proclaimed arbiter of the game. Besides immediately striking me as a dick-waving power move, I wondered why they chose to emphasize influence as a…
Claude is a brilliant, and under-appreciated, alternative to ChatGPT. I've found its writing more relatable when producing long form content. In this post, I'll summarize the Claude Doc's best practices for effective prompts. First, describe your task well. "Think of Claude as similar to an intern on their first day…
¿De qué sirve hacer mucho? ¿De qué sirve hacer poco? ¿Quién se servirá lo que quedó? ¿Cuánto estaremos aquí? ¿Mucho? ¿Poco? ¿Quién puede saberlo? ¿De qué tenemos que pedir perdón? ¿De qué nos van a perdonar? ¿Quién puede pedir perdón? ¿Quién puede otorgarlo? ¿Quién nos traicionó? ¿Quién nos engañó? ¿Quién fue el que…
Hot pot is like a culinary treasure hunt, with bits of delicious food hidden in a simmering broth, waiting to be discovered and enjoyed. The spiciness mimics the pain of digging, making the reward all the more satisfying. Each bite brings both the heat of the broth and the joy of uncovering something new, blending…
Don’t aim to do the easy things. Don’t aim to think the fastest short cuts Think 3 more seconds - work towards the hardest and the best solution always. Remember to not stuck there In solutions Conversations Presenting yourself to others Body language Be fully aware and be putting 100% Say thank you Take initiative…
I came across nicheless from a wonderful newsletter I am subscribed to called 'Read Something Great'. The newsletter, hosted on Substack, sends me a 'long read' (blogs/articles that are longform essays taking more than 10 minutes to read) and a 'short read'. Nicheless was mentioned on a 'short read' newsletter from…
Most people test what AI can do. Ankur Goyal suggests testing what it should be able to do. Typically, as product developers, we build a feature then write some tests to protect it. When tests fail in the future, you know you've broken something important and need to fix it before pushing any changes. This is true of…
(original: 15 January 2006) part of series while moving from san diego to the sf bay area ... GARAGE SALE FUN ... Yesterday (Saturday), our little compound had a garage sale - which was preceded by the garage clean out on Friday. Matt, Garry, Scud (an awesome bassador) and I sifted through "lots o' stuff". (picture -…
Okay, some more thinking. Maybe I can relate now with what Nelson went through when I started dating Musti. He said he found it mean that I was being so lovey dovey in front of him. That I was doing things and showing affection for musti that I never showed Nelson and that he always craved. Perhaps I’m going to feel…
We are all but pawns in someone's game of life. When we have absolutely no control over some things, the only thing we can resort to is to take a deep breath, sit and back and let the future unfold. There is no point putting the heart and mind to strife.
I started writing around 2016. So its been about 6 years now, roughly. I started writing when I was a frustrated, depressed and angry college student. Writing saved me. If I hadn't put pen to paper, I don't know what would have happened to me. It feels like I am in a similar place in life now. Where I feel the need to…
Not really sure how this goes, but I do like the 300 word cap. Halloween was last night and it's always fun to see the kids all dressed up. I'm more of a dress up parent. It feels inauthentic to be walking around on Oct. 31 in your regular people clothes. It's like a no judgement / everyone accepted day. More men opt…
It's that time of the year again. The one when folks from the US gather around turkey and a special meal to be thankful for what they have and count their blessings. I say it like that because even though I'm not from there and I don't celebrate those dates, I still keep the idea behind it to put it into practice with…
Day-3 of my 30 day atomic essay streak. In essay-2, I wrote about the concept of mindful repetition. Quick recap: It's a repetition of a simple actions that moves a system towards stability and makes it sophisticated with time. This sits very well with personal habit formation a.k.a building daily life systems (DLS).…
I woke up today and found out that Azuki, a project that I've been bullish on since I discovered them has airdropped me 4 NFTs worth (currently on the market) 3ETH each. For believing in this project since the beginning, I got rewarded 40K... just like that. Feels like something that only happens in the NFT space. But…
I wish they had given me some heads up about life. I wish they knew better about the rat race, and did not nudge towards the same path and mistake the made. I wish I knew better about money, I won't be in the hole I dug myself and I won't be stuck in a job that's draining every drop of life out of me. I wish they knew…
what is self doubt and why does it matter? self doubt is not believing in yourself, not trusting your gut. you could be the most talented person on earth and not know it because you don't give yourself the chance . . how do we fix self doubt? - get yourself out there and experience - be active get some reps in - find…
Boa noite.
The comfort zone is a deceptive piece of shit that keeps trying to stop me from having formative experiences. Although I am aware of this, it hits me every time and each time it costs me a great deal of effort to overcome it. The good news is that the comfort zone expands with every new experience, when seeking…
The protests in India, which began mid June under the label of CJP or Cockroach Janta Party, took a life of its own when Gen Z made their aspirations known on social media using instagram in full force. This combination of youth, frustration, joblessness, directionless leadership and a bleak future was a recipe for…
Wednesday 29th January. 18 games on one evening. An accumulator-builder's dream. This is a gluttony of football. One show promising to serve up this grotesque buffet of deep-fried dopamine hits. "We go live to the San Siro" "There's been an equaliser for City" "Big chance for Benfica" This is football reduced to its…
"Take care, there's a 30 zone here," my father reminded me. We were driving through a generic German suburban street, wide and well maintained. There were nice and wide sidewalks on both sides of the road, bordered by a red stripe of a bike lane. Slowing down to 30 km/h made me feel strange, expecting some imminent…
I don't think I've ever come to terms with what happened that night. It was horrible and took the very life out of me to a point where I thought going on was impossible. But I had big reasons to create a way out of the madness and while I'm not there yet, I am on the path. They say, "You'll never get over it." They…
Hmm. This morning, I was thinking to myself that we use too many apps anyways, and now, I'm thinking of building another one. But then, I find myself excited to see what lies ahead. Also, it depends on the time of day. In the mornings, I am more open to screen-time, but by the evening, it gets too much.
i realize i've attributed the idea of nostalgia to a negative form of idyllic memory. like the only difference between memory and nostalgia is that wistful and picturesque filter we view our own memories through. i didn't think it was possible to look back on unhappy times through the lens of nostalgia without…
Yesterday was another day with no electricity, no internet, or cellular service. We couldn't check messages, browse Instagram, or watch TV. I read a book and went to bed at 9 pm. It made me think about how much more time we would have if we didn't have all these forms of digital entertainment. I didn’t feel like I…
The slow start, quiet open windows and fresh morning air. Delight.
People has so many topics outside of work. You gotta have life outside work or feel energetic & interested to go outside to enjoy life. Now I’m feeling like it a bit - I like going outdoors and explore Or just listen to conversations That’s how you get to like know more perspectives and more things It’s pretty…
I crave something, I get it. I need something, I get it. Someone close to me needs something, they get it from me. It's a beautiful feeling to not have to worry about costs. It's a beautiful feeling to not have to worry about money. This has been my experience for the past few days after making what can be said to be…
Is to do every single little thing right Even if you’re out of time You still use NOW as a start Wake up and it’s a new beginning Put 💯 onto every single task I want you to monitor how you breathe All your action is going to make so many difference So you gotta fortify your mind; put a purpose Rather than feeling the…
A friend and I regularly check-in across the ocean - California, US and Vietnam - regarding activities around PKM, GTD, and solopreneurship. Two days ago, I recently shared about my on-goings - "... and lots of self-reflection - or shall I say "Self-Inflection" - I feel like I am at a transition point" Self-inflection…
Learnt smtg from Bryan - age really don’t matter What matters is the level of thinking and what do you think Your way of dealing with people The worst and dumb people is not working and worry this and that Meanwhile the most cleverest is just live in the moment and work the best In no matter what situation He’ll be…
I am writing bits and pieces of content since 8th class. First they were rewritten stories that I read or heard or my own addition or subtraction from it. Then, when I observed writing poems means you can become popular in school bus, I started writing those. But, even if I wanted to write half decent poems, they…
When ever we talk about ARM and Performance. Most discussions, whether that is on Twitter, HN or Reddit immediately jump into an Apple Fanboy thread. And pointing out how far behind the other ARM cores are. But is that really the case? Apple A16 has a GB5 of 1870 @ 3.6Ghz. Running at close to 5W. On the same TSMC 4nm,…
