Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
"...a gente quer ter voz ativa, no nosso destino mandar, mas eis que chega a roda viva e carrega o destino pra lá..." Ontem isso ficou bem claro. Mudanças de planos, surpresas nem sempre boas, algumas boas notícias, mudanças na rotina, doenças, notícias de morte. Como dizem, o homem põe e Deus dispõe. E só nos resta…
This space is to explore my views and get to know myself better. Currently I am experiencing a lot of pressure on myself because I have very high expectations out of myself. I want to be in control of my thoughts and better understand my feelings. I want to do many things but I need to realise I can't do everything at…
I'm probably going to end up sleeping a little later than usual tonight, because I really need to get this out. Been feeling a little excited about life lately. Happier even, you could say. There's a certain level of enthusiasm I feel when I think about the future. There's still a lot to overcome in terms of a lot of…
i read a book about how there are people who defy all expectations. like they just HATE fulfilling expectations, doesn't matter if it's internal or external. i may be such a person. i told myself that i should go running at 5 and cook at 6 and have dinner ready by 7.30 but it is now 5.55 and i have been working on…
Running around my neighborhood has made me bitter. I see piles of trash on the side of the road and I tell myself a story about people that don't care. I see more and trash and I feel more anger. What can I do? What control do I have? The same control I tell my kids that they have - I can only control myself. So I'm…

Yesterday night, I left home to take a walk. I spent time looking up at clouds. I arrived on the school field, late at night, and laid down on the cold grass, right in the exact center of the field. It was around 7:30 p.m. - the sky was a mix of blue, pink, and orange. The most perfect time of the day to take some…
I don't really have much to write for today, so let me see: 1. Mehul's birthday party: I spent 15 minutes trying to get a unruly bunch of teenagers to play darts. It wasn't as annoying as i thought it would be, though. I pretty much jumped into auto-pilot mood of needing to take-charge 2. Pitch night by Build: I…
Exciting times! I just bought 2 holidays this weekend. In March I'm going to Cyprus for one week with my two older boys. D won't be joining us - She will've just changed her job and -although they say she can work anywhere she wants- she doesn't want to test them on this yet. But I need a week in the sun every Feb/…
I don't know if it'll make sense to you, but the feature of blocking people is just a blessing. I personally would endorse this feature and recommend it to everyone to keep their sanity at bay. Certain people can't disappear from your life at your will, but blocking them from your socials and contacts is SO CALMING.…
I recently read an article by the creator of Gumroad, Sahil Lavingia, discussing their work values and how this has influenced Gumroad’s journey (no pun intended). It made me think about what I want for my business as it grows, and what my own values and expectations are. Like Lavingia, I believe in embracing the…
Starting a new business, or a tool, or a startup is considered an enormously good thing. And when you start something and shut it down after some time, you feel equal amount of sad. Why is shutting down considered bad when its the opposite when you stop for the right reasons.
I woke up this morning trying to crack a problem I'd been thinking about: how can I test if my router supports PPPoE without a PPPoE server on the other end? A bit of googling and I discovered rp-pppoe, a userspace PPPoE server for Linux, written and maintained by Dianne Skoll. "What's the rp for?" I wondered. Roaring…
When did being mindful become an abstract, complicated process that we must opt into daily? To be mindful is simply to be attentive and aware. To get out of your own head. To realize the world doesn't revolve around you. To be curious about what is going on with others and to engage accordingly. In other words: don't…
The quantum of the gap between need and desire is inversely proportional to the degree of contentment we possess.
Thirty years ago, a mob brought down a mosque in a town I thought existed only in stories. I do not recall it's violent aftermath in Bombay. I was only eight, shielded from much that was frightening about our world. But, I remember the news of the bombs going off. Especially the one near the Shiv Sena Bhavan in Dadar.…
Recently, the Indian prime minister Narendra Modi lambasted what he called 'revdi' culture at a public event. He was referring to the political practice of enticing voters - especially the poorer and lesser educated variety - with material goods in exchange for votes (revdi refers to a food item). For anyone who is…
We were never taught how to be angry. Wrath was the province of God, and occasionally that of fathers offered insult. That, I think, is how I never noticed it seeping in at slights and kicks until it had long curdled in my marrow.
Understand the power of now By doing it without procrastinate By doing small tasks well - people will notice you Don’t be worried about doing plum assignment Do what you like to do - don’t think what you want to be (rich, be successful etc) Think what you actually like and enjoy doing Make your eyes small - don’t make…
A typical week starts on Monday morning with office work and suddenly you realise that you have a lot of things pending to be done and you convince yourself that "I will do it over the weekend". This list piles up and finally when the weekend arrives we would have forgotten about it and when we realise the weekend…
Writing without proper capitalization, punctuation and spelling is like attending Zoom meetings in your pajamas. Everybody knows you're there. What difference does it make, one might ask? Why go through the trouble of being presentable when there is no functional difference? We are not purely functional beings. A…
a new platform shows up on HN, so I'm here, just in case I miss out. I'm also on urbit, just in case I miss out. I'm also on urbit because I am a pseudocoder, but I like fp and weirdness. My real field is [humanities], and after five years I'm only beginning to come to terms with liking it, and being able to undertake…
I love travelling by the Metro. I know Bangalore's Metro isn't as tentacled as Delhi's or as old as the tube (of London) - but by god, I adore the Metro. And this isn't even due to its ridiculous affordability. Stepping inside, you can almost taste the bustle of people hopping from home to work. When i see men and…
One of life's mysteries is how we get stuck too easily as we age. We make assumptions based on past experiences. We hold back from new adventures based on how others act. We say 'no' before we have even tried. My granddaughter and I were playing with a bottle of bubbles in the front yard. She can come up with endless…
when you transfer money from one account to another account, in the memo/notes section write a self-affirmation i wrote: "i am full of love" next time i could say something like: "i have everything i need to be peak happy" which is true i do have everything i need all i need is my imagination and fresh air and…
I was other day randomly thinking about the way we spend our time on weekends. We have around 52 weeks in a year and for most of us it is 2 days off so effectively we have 104 days for ourselves. If we take out effectively 2 hours for our productivity schedule in a day on a weekend, then we have around 208 hours to…
thick full lashes seem like an adaptation strategy to desert living...(like camels) i wonder why people think thick full lashes are so sexy are we attracted to desert dwellers? i read that when modern humans left africa, they mated with neanderthals (who come from the valley "thal" of neander) and thus gained genes…
Approach life fast as possible - applies the same how you approach SUDOKU... So here's the thing I want to tell to my 27 self There's nothing much better than being a player and acting in the game of life rather than being a side character! You want to be a main as much as possible. So act like one! One trait that…
(original: 14 Jan 2006) Welcome to my relocation rants & raves! Hello! FIRST TIME BLOGGER and BUSINESS OWNER ... This is my first blog mainly for those interested in my relocation planning and activities from San Diego to the Bay Area. (And I'm sure it will contribute to my tendency to procrastinate and provide an…
I recall seeing so many resumes for software engineering positions that had COVID tracker projects. These people want to put their skills to use and show others that they have engineering talent, but they choose the most overdone and cliché project to make. Why do we need a COVID tracking app for the millionth time?…
“My advice: get paid, do work you’re proud of if that matters to you, then focus on building culture in your community, your friend group, your church, whatever it is that gives you meaning. Work will never be that for you.” Source: https://buttondown.email/justinpot/archive/build-community-outside-of-work/ Me: nods…
I know everyone's suddenly excited about crypto again now Bitcoin has posted new ATHs and Meme Coins are making people millionaires again. I did OK in the last bull cycle, but feel like I need to keep myself more disciplined this time around, to hold myself more to account and make smarter decisions. To do this, I…
Sim, vou pra Minas Sozinha Amanhã Rs Em 29 anos é minha primeira viagem sozinha sozinha. Vou lavar algumas outras roupas…
People have the habit of writing at the end of a digital document. However, it's a just a behavior carried over from physical world of writing on a paper. You can't come back later and decide to add more paragraphs at the top of a letter you've already written. But in digital documents, there is no such limitation,…
i love patti smith's writing but i've never really like, gotten into the musician side of her and because "just kids" focuses so much on that, i got curious and so i'm watching a 1977 interview+concert of her and i'm shocked that she (1) has a new york accent (2) sounds so damn confident and opinionated in person…
reflect & manifest reverb23 in january adapts the reverb10 event shared about in this post - https://nicheless.blog/post/before-%7C-reverb-in-december-20 "... online initiative to reflect on your year and manifest what’s next ... an opportunity to reflect on what's happened, and to send out reverberations for the year…
When I was eighteen, I started a journal. I faithfully wrote entries every day for five years. At the time, I didn’t consider it a journal. I was in college. With my tuition paid, my life savings was $1800. This was my spending money. I didn’t qualify for work-study. I planned to make my money last as long as I could.…
"Hating myself for not going into Azuki at 8ETH last week" or something along the lines is one of the most common tweet I've been seeing over the past couple of days. Or "Sold my Azuki at 5ETH ngmi." It's easy to say this with hindsight, but in the back of my mind, I know that 90% of the people who say probably…
I've noticed that the first 10 minutes of my day can make or break it. If I hit snooze several times and start scrolling through news on my tablet, I usually end up feeling sluggish and scattered. But when I directly get out of bed, stay off my devices, write down thoughts in my journal, and take a quick cold shower,…
I love non fiction. The Master & His Emissary by Ian McGilchrist is ideal, a fascinating study of the brain and how it works. If you are interested in creativity it’s a gold mine. Sadly I can’t say the same for fiction. Of course I SHOULD appreciate the works of great authors but impatience kicks in, pages gets…
When AI model get faster and better, any implementation details are just a form of premature optimisation. They constrain AI to our understanding of a domain and limit its ability to operate independently. Tell the system what to look for and what doing that well means, and then get out of the way. When building AI…
