Your Pace Is Not As Important As The Action Itself
One of life's mysteries is how we get stuck too easily as we age.
We make assumptions based on past experiences. We hold back from new adventures based on how others act.
We say 'no' before we have even tried.
My granddaughter and I were playing with a bottle of bubbles in the front yard. She can come up with endless variations on blowing bubbles.
She ran in a circle, waving the wand leaving a wake of bubbles in her path.
It was my turn next.
“Run around and wave the wand, NiNi!” I am not a runner. At my age, I don’t need to start. I told her as much.
She looked at me as if that was the silliest thing to say.
Her solution? “Just jog!” Why did I think I needed to take her words literally?
All my granddaughter wanted to see me do was move, wave the wand, and make bubbles. The pace didn't matter.
Isn’t that true with all of our endeavors?
It’s not how fast we go that’s important. We each have our way of doing a task. Taking action, no matter the pace, moves you forward.
Doing our best in the moment is what counts.
