Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
In March 2021, I posed two questions during Energy Central's hosted event, PowerSession: Utilities' Role Delivering Biden's Build Back Better Plan - How can community or consumer choice programs better understand and align with the priorities in social/environmental justice communities, where the programs are…
Most people want to be free. But being free is hard. The moment you have FREEDOM, there will be: - Nobody to blame, but YOU. - Nobody responsible for anything, but YOU. It's hard. That's why the majority of us trade freedom for safety and certainty.
one of my goals in life used to be to feel stoned without smoking weed and i realized that you can do that it's called art. consume it, make it. listen to music go on a run (yes specifically go on a run) it's very simple and this is why proust thinks that art is the purpose of life
Hated when the meeting is not done properly This morning meeting with the subcontractors is a demonstration of you shouldn’t compare yourself to the people around you You should think it all through and strive for the best What is each party going to talk about What is the technical details Think it through DURING or…
Praying in tongues is the super-power I wish I had known about earlier. Or, being honest, that I had used earlier.
I remembered something that I had penned a while ago, as I was reading Louis' post on disregarding intuition. I wrote about why we rely on it so much in the first place and how understanding a little nuance to our intuition might help us. It goes something like this. Intuition helps us understand things instinctively…
no yeah i definitely think of myself as an artist. &i like how matty healy talks about his music as "art" and not as "music" like most musicians do matty healy is attractive to me in a special way, like i like his...personality
This was a facebook update on my childhood friend's father's passing. We are not actively in touch (only facebook), I saw the update, through the testimonial message he posted for his father. I had the urge to check how old uncle was and see his recent photos, perhaps to give me a sense of what it means to live close…
You've spent your life building a portfolio of skills. The only problem is they're currently stuck behind a dam. Let me explain: There's a wealth of expertise stuck behind your ability to articulate it in a manner that's: • clear • educational • entertaining The solution is to build a writing habit. Writing is the…
1. What's something that puts a smile on your face instantly? 2. Who's that someone you look forward to sharing the good news as soon as you receive it? 3. If money and responsibilities are taken out of the equation, would you still live in the same city? 4. What's your favourite childhood memory? 5. Do you feel…
I saw a tweet by Democratic congressman Ritchie Torres accusing dissident journalist Glenn Greenwald of being a "useful idiot" for believing the fake backstory of recently elected Republican congressman George Santos. I know who the first two people are, and I've never heard of the third. I Google his name and the…
Soon I'm going to start a new chapter in my life, one that I have been waiting for years: moving to a new country where I will study my dream degree and do what I am most passionate about. This is something I have manifested, talked about and it's actually happening. Honestly, right now, I can't even picture it; I…
Unstructured work is under appreciated. It's the kind of work you do when there are unknown unknowns. Or when you're searching for a solution that might exist, but you don't know where to look. Or the work you do in pursuit of perfection, which can never be recognised, except in its absence. The process can be…
Enfim, seguimos.…
I love synthesizers. I own a couple of vintage ones, and other bits of vintage audio gear. There's something very interesting about how they look and how they are designed, they're like a little time capsule of a bygone era, fascinating for a wide number of reasons. But it's also true that electronic bits of kit tend…
why do some people give off the vibe like you can trust them? like they don't judge you? like you want to tell them everything? without even getting to know them, you get that vibe, and it turns out you're right! i think at my best i can have a pure childlike aura with curiosity and humor ; at my worst i'm childish…
The difference you can obviously think is conservative. But what does conservative means? It also means that they are more opened to new ideas and the problem with Asian thinking is it’s way too conservative. That there’s a certain system or rule to follow; which might not be real That you can date as many as you like…
A sense of assurance that eventually things will fall into place and you will be more than fine. Its a state of mind which makes you calm, happy and at complete ease. The last I felt this is when I was in Kannur, Kerala for New Years. The clean and calm beach with the shades of sky changes from orange to hot pink, the…
Writing like a lawyer for over twenty five years had clogged my system with literary cholesterol. I was never a fan of legal jargon - you won't get a "hereinafter" out of me - but years of legal writing made Jaitly a dull scribe. Giving legal advice, or drafting a contract, requires words to have unambiguous meanings:…
I’ve realized that I have a low tolerance for negativity lately. Both of my parents, especially my dad, tend to be very negative. My mom isn't as much, but she gets influenced by my dad’s constant complaints and negative comments. I was probably influenced by them too. Now that I've spent a lot of time away from home…
The people you love and care about make you want to go out and be present. In the past, I preferred to stay at home, lock myself away, and avoid socializing. But this changed with the right people. True friends, a loving family, and loved ones make you proactive, eager to make memories and go out, I don't feel lazy at…
As a baby your nervous system isn't fully developed yet. When you feel stress, you need touch. Real touch, soft, slow, friendly, safe touch. You're held by a caring being much larger and stronger than you. The gentle motion and smiling face is comforting to you. You feel the stress ebbing away. As you grow older and…
Today is my birthday. For some reasons I don't like my birthday. Why could that be? As a child, birthdays were magical - filled with excitement, gifts, and cake. Now, as an adult, the shine has worn off. Why? Perhaps it's the contrast between childhood anticipation and adult reality. As grown-ups, we can buy what we…
i'm really glad that my friend is a big lana del rey fan; i almost feel like that's his defining personality trait: love for lana del rey; and he tells me things about her and he sent me an article about her and i keep thinking about it... i'm eating haribo happy cola because lana's song title "cola" gave me a sudden…
my original blogs have scores of posts written over the years. consolidated now on wordpress after a mid-stay at medium, it's a very haphazard collection mostly surrounding themes like, not surprisingly, human misery, love, heartbreak, and philosophy. i told a friend i am pursuing masters in philosophy and he said,…
I will need to pull out a history book to understand the how and why of how women's nails became a social symbol. My virgo nature, as I write this, makes me want to understand the cosmetic industry, the inventions of why only women got an opportunity to be creative when it come to coloring their nails. I will reserve…
A macher, pronounced with that distinctively Yiddish velar fricative, is the sort of person who could convince you that you need to buy a new lawnmower together with an extended 10-year warranty despite your lack of lawn ownership. A macher knows what you want before you know what you want, and as it turns out, he…
Working on an art project I only ever have 5 or 10 minutes When it turns into longer It’s a damn miracle This Project Has been going on for years And in warps 10 years is conservative It’s been 30 years Depends On what part In 10 years I will have lived in New York As long as I did in Houston The Project forks off in…
thinking about the brits in relation to the opium crisis in china makes me feel the exact same way about the brits the way i do about my ex: well fucking played. what a worthy opponent you are-- you erotic beast. i'll get you back.
if i had infinite money i would be so happy. and i wouldn't even buy anything extravagant i have literally no need for it. i would just live the way i do forever but not worry about money. there are people who would wanna work even if they didn't have to. not. me. i dont wanna work. i just wanna read, write, relax,…
we hung out with a new sailor today; well, new to us, not new to sailing. and we did NOT hit it off. at some point i could feel that he was trying to leave. it was like he was waiting for us to say something that we never ended up saying. what was it that he wanted us to say? i wonder what it is that made me hit it…
Finally got around to this project after buying the cigar box at a thrift store a few months ago. All the rest of the parts I had around from other builds/mods. I’ve modded a few guitars now but I think I might be most proud of this one. It wasn’t a struggle the entire build, only took me 3 days in total, and best of…
As a man, a husband, in my forties, who has moved more than 5 times in my life and had to get a new collection of local friends, one piece of advice I wish I could give myself is: never is an opportunity to "get real" with someone. When folks ask: "how's it going?" the reflex is to keep the response as shallow as…
there is no such thing as a promiscuous man unless he's gay but my question to society is: is it so bad to be promiscuous? can we treat it as another form of adventurousness? you know what is bad? unhappy marriages abusive relationships we push people to be in relationships so much that we forget that most of us are…
When I'm with you, I feel like I'm a thousand feet tall. When I think I've lost you, I feel like I'm dying. I live for all the little moments I spend with you, your smile, your voice, the little curve of your nose and the silly way you make the worst things funny. You are never far from my thoughts. I could write a…
For about a month now, I’ve been working on writing a novel from an idea I’ve been working out for a few years. While writing a novel is something I’ve always wanted to do it is somewhat daunting. I began writing this story a few years ago as a graphic novel, but found myself discouraged when I couldn’t afford to pay…
made coffee at 2am again not because i needed energy just wanted to feel like the main character for five minutes
Who are we? What defines us? Who are you looking at when you look in the mirror every day? "To be or not to be" is a quote by Shakespeare that has been reused for decades. Let's talk about "Not to be". We are complex creatures with a nuanced way of social and personal interactions. All these interactions define us.…
I am the type who like analogies. I understand things better with analogies. I am aware that this type of thinking is not dynamic, and perhaps out of touch with reality. But as a thought exercise i enjoy doing this in my head. sometimes it helps me avoid bad startup ideas outright. And many times it makes me believe a…
I'm sitting on the train on my way to Cambridge after a road trip in Scotland. So many things happened on the trip—sleeping in a camper van for the first time, listening to the audiobook "Outliers," hiking, and more. Yet, here I am, one hour into the train ride, and I find I have nothing I really want to write about.…
ironic isn't it? the things we run from loom near like shadows, inescapable contorted and twisted into new forms sometimes even be mistaken for something new entirely no use in trying to run - instead delaying the inevitable power drawn from denial of its existence a brief respite, just enough to get by what's the…
Good night's sleep, even without the whirlpool and crappy eating. Odd dream: only a snippet of making out with a woman I know to be a lesbian. Got to listen to birdsong over coffee this morning. The birdsong doesn't make me feel as happy as it used to. Time for a break, time for a change. 280720 May 2022
I always thought that I was flexible, could adapt well, and thrive in the newest of environments. But with the speed at which the entire digital landscape around us is changing, I'm not so confident anymore. Having always tied my worth to my productivity, what if I'm not relevant anymore? Another thing that worries me…
To refer to a phenomenon or quantity as being deficient implies that there is some proper amount one might expect to have. A gas tank that is three-quarters empty, for example, would rightly be considered deficient if our destination were two hundred miles away; a "gasoline deficit," as it were. It would be just as…
Now its 2024. Vibe coding is here. Its like telling the computer to make what you want - mobile app, web app etc and it will create for you. You do need to know some basics and sometimes a lot more than basics depending on what your idea needs to come out and feel alive. Even I, I am also learning this. I am vibe…
It starts with a door opening. Then you just see a man's feet trudging through the snow on a horrible dark night. He turns over the ignition and the car's headlamp seems to appear in the darkness. We watch the car make its way down the road. It's the only car on this awful kind of deep snow-covered road. And then a…
I vividly remember my mother's outburst in the summer of 2013 when I ran away from a Bangalore internship within five days of joining. She was angry at my incompetency to stick to a job. She compared me to neighbours who settled in soulless jobs. Her disbelief in my post-graduate design education fueled my own anger.…
