For about a month now, I’ve been working on writing a novel from an idea I’ve been working out for a few years. While writing a novel is something I’ve always wanted to do it is somewhat daunting. I began writing this story a few years ago as a graphic novel, but found myself discouraged when I couldn’t afford to pay an artist. I came back to the idea as a novel and now I feel like I’m adapting my own idea to a different medium and need to adjust the story to reflect that. One day it would be interesting to finish both versions, novel and graphic novel, and see how much the story really changes between the ways they are told. The biggest difference to me so far is the pace. I felt like a comic needed to jump right into the action but a novel allows me to build the characters more and bring them together in a more interesting way. I hope to have a first draft finished and more information to share by the end of 2025, but I am not holding myself to a real deadline.
