Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
Shakira and Gerard Pique are separating after being together for 12 years. I was scrolling through twitter when I first came across a tweet about this and I did not think it is true . But soon after a few days it was all over the news that Pique was cheating on Shakira and was even living alone in an apartment now .…
A new visual announcement has been piped in to the lounge at my corporate day job, proudly announcing that our CEO was recently crowned "1 most influential" by some self-proclaimed arbiter of the game. Besides immediately striking me as a dick-waving power move, I wondered why they chose to emphasize influence as a…
Is 'should' an inspiring word? When you say "We should do ...", "let's try to", it comes off argumentative and attempts to remove pressure from oneself. Replace with "I'd like to do", "I'd prefer to". These phrases take ownership and inspire
Today, as I strolled down the familiar streets of HSR Layout, the sound of a man riding his mopet caught my attention. He was shouting "Paper," "Bottles," and other familiar calls. Instantly, a wave of nostalgia washed over me, and a smile spread across my face. It took me back to the long, lazy summer holidays of my…
Monsoon, a season of rains. Its brings with itself a celebration, A season when you feel relaxed just with the sound of pitter patter when it hits the ground. A season of treat to watch peacock dance A season when the air is ripe with the earthy smell which feels so divine. A season that teach the art of letting go…
Came across a captivating question recently by Nicheless founder Louis on his post "12 questions that captivate me". Can a society with diverse, conflicting values survive? I believe only a society with diverse and conflicting values can survive. Humans follow their desires to pretty much any extreme. If a particular…
Hello. I have missed the last 2 days of blogging. Sorry. I have been having immense anxiety for the past 2 days. And I think I am in a state where nobody and nothing seems to be helping. The biggest reason for this is because my sense of self worth is tied to my sense of productivity. And I feel like I am productive…
You should shed people’s expectations of whom you should be or what you should behave like. There is no reason to be concerned with what your friends or neighbours or acquitances think about you. You’re the driver in your life, only you can see your road ahead and the journey you have traversed. You cannot expect…
Fitness fads come and go. Depending on who one talks to or what one reads, the recommended exercise routine for adults keeps changing. The latest one doing the rounds is the importance of sprint and interval training and the photograph is from a recent session. 30 minutes on the treadmill with eight sprints timed…
I have wanted to pursue a Master's degree for well over a year now. The desire to do so has been all-consuming and if I'm being honest, exhausting. I find myself struggling to write the essays, and more particularly, the infamous statement of purpose. It's not that I can't find purpose. It is that I do not know how to…
Lately, I've been reminiscing about my past experience in the school system, and one of the common themes that I keep coming back to is the sheer tolerance of prideful incompetence, e.g., being wrong in a loud way. Arguing loudly when you're wrong is, in a way non-threatening to the teacher, they're right at the end…
Today a short chapter of my life ended But every ending is a new beginning I'm looking forward to the new chapter I will fill the pages one by one Always searching for the right path to take ...
https://youtu.be/fhDVVfELsM?si=1Cc6Bb8KnMDZCyx dude what if we reincarnate over and over listening to the same songs in different styles.
When we think of the word "slavery," defined as a system of relations in which individuals are compelled to perform labor, it is reasonable to define the inverse as the absence of compulsion. The word most associated with such a situation is "freedom." Closely related but with a more political connotation is the word…
"Finish something. Anything. Stop researching, planning, and preparing to do the work and just do the work. It doesn’t matter how good or how bad it is. You don’t need to set the world on fire with your first try. You just need to prove to yourself that you have what it takes to produce something. There are no…
I got in to a discussion with a friend about some bill that was signed into law in Florida that, depending on your political orientation, either (a) made it illegal to talk about being gay in classrooms, insinuating that anyone who supported it is a homophobic bigot, or (b) was an attempt by concerned parents and…
Yesterday, I was watching my some random reels and one of them I could totally connect to. I feel like I’ve lived my whole life trying to not take up too much space. It’s so liberating to have found vocabulary to describe exactly how you’ve been feeling your entire life. I see it in all parts of my life. Personal and…
You might be sitting at a restaurant with a friend. The check comes, and your dining partner reaches for his wallet. "No, no," you kindly remind him, "it's my turn." This reciprocal gesture may be well-intentioned, but it immediately triggers a sense of disappointment bordering on offense. "Don't turn this into a…
I've often pondered the concept of states and governments. When you zoom out, it's actually quite strange and alienating: some institution draws a line, declares that the land within it belongs to them, and all people living there must follow the rules set from above and give up a part of their belongings. On one…
Today I am thinking of Alex the parrot again. The first and only known non-human to ask an existential question. His last words to his caretaker: "You be good, I love you. See you tomorrow". I wonder how much animals can really know. Octopi come to mind when I think of consciousness. They are very smart -- smarter…
When I got my first job, I was happy - not on top of the world - but definitely happy. In my final year, after frantically trying to secure internships, just so I could convert them into a job offer or sitting for every job interview just so that I could get a job, I had finally secured an offer. All those days -…
I've noticed that the first 10 minutes of my day can make or break it. If I hit snooze several times and start scrolling through news on my tablet, I usually end up feeling sluggish and scattered. But when I directly get out of bed, stay off my devices, write down thoughts in my journal, and take a quick cold shower,…
I strongly believe that three engineers in one room can accomplish far more than six engineers working remotely. This isn’t just about communication bottlenecks—it goes deeper than that. I've been working from home for ten months now, a significant shift after spending nine years in an office with my colleagues. Even…

All I want is to see action Dreams without action (inactivity) is going to cause anxiety and negative feeling You need energy levels You need mental environment to tell that it’s okay no matter how fled it is You need to know accountability as well, only by doing you’ll be able to get to places you wanted to be Not a…
For five years, I had a hectic commute to and from college. I have used Mumbai locals for all of those five years because it was the fastest mode of transport. Conveniently, after I graduated, I did jobs that didn't require a commute that would tire me. However, I just started working at a new job and anticipate some…
You’re either making it - making change in the world Or you’re just living the game If it’s too heavy; forget about the past and the future - just carry the present The best skilled people knows that skills comes with discomfort; and only by persevering in discomfort you’re able to gain skills The best is actually…
It's the fourth quarter of 2023, and I chose to replenish my 6-month undated Roterunner planner - https://roterunner.com/products/purpose-planner - partly out of convenience, partly out of utility. Meanwhile, here's a list of planners which folks have shared -…
Every day we would be receiving hundreds of emails and we would be responding back to them as a part of our work or in our personal capacity. But, we always make a few mistakes which do not look wrong but are more like disasters. Let's look at a few of them: 1. We send Or receive emails with an URGENT written in caps…
Digital productivity apps - shiny object buffet of apps with low to high caloric brain-nourishment value One's lived experiences deserves to be housed where the moments will be organized, tended, and loved Home sweet home, especially your digital home. --- My love letter to friends who ask if they should switch apps.…
This space is to explore my views and get to know myself better. Currently I am experiencing a lot of pressure on myself because I have very high expectations out of myself. I want to be in control of my thoughts and better understand my feelings. I want to do many things but I need to realise I can't do everything at…
Today was a great day. Spend more money than I’d want to since yesterday but it’s okay but it wasn’t on drugs or booze.. tonight I made chicken Alfredo pasta w mushrooms to finish a great day
Being okay with not being okay. Contradiction? Kinda. Really it’s different layers. Maybe you’re not okay at one level, but if the higher level is okay with it, then on the whole, you’ll feel okay. Maybe your bank account is zero. Is that a problem? Yes of course, but an equally correct answer is: Only if you treat it…
I hardly remember when did I attend a full day classes of my college. For the past 9 months, I was a part of a start-up in fin-tech domain. But due to rookie mistakes, they dried up and thus I had to get another internship to pay EMIs of my new I-phone (Aah! What a motivation to work). So, two days back I joined…
It frustrates me to watch debates that descend into whataboutery. And if images speak louder than words, I hope the one above manages to drown out a bunch of pointless arguments. --- Whataboutery is a tactic used by people who know exactly what they're doing – intentionally distorting the public's perception of…
It’s just decisions who make up who you are Waking up rather than staying on bed is not a choice someone ask you to do or “you didn’t have a choice” It’s how you decide to use your best knowledge for everything you do
Sick infants cry, some sick infants have increased respiratory rate. Assessment of respiratory rate is important for identifying the disease and assessing the general wellness of the child. This is pretty difficult to do when the infant is crying. This led me to wonder if the rate of vocalising?/phonation? while…
(original: 2006 March 29) ... o.k., susan ... i'll play Four jobs you have had in your life: 1. smaller leather goods salesperson in dept. store 2. plastic lid putter-onner for canned food stuff 3. junior chemist (summer) 4. working for the voices in my head Four movies you would watch over and over: 1. shawashank…
Have you ever been pretty drunk but had these fleeting moments of clarity? Like you snap out of the buzz for a few seconds and your mind functions normally? Sometimes you have these moments even when you are not drunk. You could be going on with life as usual, going through the motions. Suddenly you snap out of it.…
One of my guiding principles for inner work is “let everything be”. If you feel angry, let yourself feel angry. If you feel sad, let yourself feel sad. If you feel bored, let yourself feel bored. It’s the resistance to these feelings that causes problems. Or in buddhist terminology, this resistance is tanha: a wish…
I can't begin to count the number of new beginnings I have declared. Maybe it's my perfectionist streak in me that demands this. Maybe I should fix this, maybe not. But I do hope to make this one count. There are a few things, I aim to implement in my life. Firstly, thinking about mine and others' failures. I'm going…
We must spend and manage these well in order to achieve our best experience of life. Time is the toughest as once we spend it we cannot get it back, so we must cautious in how we spend it. This is a difficult thing to do though, as we human beings love love. We love being loved and we love showing love, and one of the…
Really this is just a place where I am going to keep my notes about things I am currently learning/working on or have learned in the past. Maybe some code snippets (not that I know any language fully). I suspect this blog is going to be all over the place as I am going to try to write about what I know, what I am…
Congee served in a ceramic bowl, cubes of salmon still cooking slowly in a thickened broth of grain, stock and minced pork, each bite velvety on the tongue. Tangerine pollock roe smushed into a paste, generously seasoned with salt, pepper, lemon, egg yolks and a spoonful of Japanese mayonnaise. Expertly tossed through…
You’re having a problem staying consistent with your new journaling habit. You just proved you're human. You are one among millions. "Look," my husband points to a man writing in a journal. We are waiting for our flight. "He writes in a journal like you." Except I have not written in my journal today. Journaling is a…
The title sounds cliched, but is so true. My current read, Four Thousand Weeks - Time Management for Mortals by Oliver Burkeman is peppered with gems in the first three chapters. Phrases like Stubborn Gladness, Bright Sadness and Sober Joy jump off the pages. These describe what a cancer survivor feels when they come…
