Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
The “future of work” is often imagined as a sudden rupture, a world where digitization, artificial intelligence and automation replace jobs overnight. Yet in developing economies such as Indonesia, the shifts seem less like a single break and more like a series of overlapping transitions— technological, social, and…
Some days i just sit and wonder if there is any purpose of life or we are here to find a job, earn money and spend it again on our daily needs. There is no end to this and this is a vicious cycle. We wake up everyday and go to work not because we love it but because we need to either keep ourselves busy or we need to…
I wrote this in February, thanks to Nicheless it’s seeing the light of the day. With Covid, we adapted from buying from stores to buying almost everything online and getting it home delivered. This was ok (not saying great). We ordered stuff and it reached in 1/2/3 days. Local kirana wala, a phone call away also got…
We must spend and manage these well in order to achieve our best experience of life. Time is the toughest as once we spend it we cannot get it back, so we must cautious in how we spend it. This is a difficult thing to do though, as we human beings love love. We love being loved and we love showing love, and one of the…
I couldn't hold it in any longer. I felt like a fraud for not having it stated out in the open clearly how I felt about S. So I decided to tell her. I told S that I did not think I was in a space to consider her a friend anymore. I told her I felt very hurt and betrayed that she could just ignore something that was…
Do people become responsible because they are given responsibilities, or must they first demonstrate their worthiness before being granted the right to exercise judgment? The question seems tautological. How is one supposed to demonstrate his worthiness to carry the burden of responsibility without being burdened with…
as for the history of black amerikka, they are & have been in plain sight. over the last 500 years, we just did not have on the correct lenses to see the whips & chains evolving. the programming that took place over 500 years ago during the creating of amerikka worked so well that we don't even know what went on with…
Hoje eu vou escrever dois textos pq me atrasei no dia 9.
How can we know how many people are currently here with us? The artifacts we leave to the world will almost certainly pierce someone's heart at some point in time. Who can know when and how? And who can know how strongly? The other day, I remembered a location in my home town of Boulder, Colorado on the back side of…
Going out with friends that have the same hobbies as you is just another level, today we went to the museum because we had a sketching assignment. It felt so cute that we were all walking with our sketch pads and pencils and sitting on the floors of the museum to appreciate artworks. I'm actually studying what I love…
I do not judge. I'm no saint and I've done my share of sins, hence I do not judge. I'm here to help in whatever way you need me to. I cannot tell you what is right or what is wrong or what you should do or what you should've done. I cannot tell you because I do not know myself. But I will do what you need me to do.…
Im normally used to have a routine that is very stable, not much going on, but this past 2 weeks have been very intense for me, from events, meeting people, moving and figuring out this this country I have been picking up very bad habits cause I have so many things I want and need to fit in my schedule. Now I realize…
A thought on editing and proofreading, especially of your own writing. Most people, other than diehard digital evangelists, agree that reviewing a print out helps correct errors and make improvements that you might not have spotted on the screen. This sits alongside the idea, supported by research (see the article…
We love conclusions. Conclusions lend certainty to identity, relationships, and thought experiments. For instance, soon after a conversation, we are quick to think,"Oh this person is cool." Even with thought experiments we shade the experiment with what we know to be true from our experience. Let's say if someone asks…
You're a man, 1. Wake up early. 2. Pray. 3. Make your bed. 4. Brush your teeth. 5. Drink a glass of water. 6. Review your to-do list. 7. Meditate. 8. Read. 9. Write. 10. Lift. 11. Stay sober. 12. Increase your income. Nothing hurts a man like zero progress in his life.
I've lived my life on high ambition. In school it was about getting the highest marks, or winning the competitions I enrolled in. Slowly it turned to having a great career, becoming the best person I could be etc. But recently, I've been disillusioned by this approach. Don't get me wrong. Greatness is... great. It's…
Sometimes I get a rush of motivation for studying, even if it’s a subject I don't necessarily like. I enjoy the process and the feeling of learning. However, when I start to feel the weight of others’ expectations about my performance or results, that spark of motivation quickly fades. It’s strange because many people…
In my teens - I was a commi/socialist. Read Che. I thought everyone should share everything in equal parts. In my 20s, I want to conquer the world. Nothing can stop me. Hell yeah! Started tilting towards center. In my 30s, I'm part of capitalist system, and turned capitalist. Believes money can buy happiness & many…
Entropy is randomness, uncertain, confounding. Physics doesn't seem to be random, yet it accounts for entropy. It claims that entropy is a measurable physical property. Life is entropic and not. It is paradoxical and not. It is measurable and not. There is an ardent need for clarity, but our understanding and…
The second post on this journal should have come sooner. When I started, I had envisioned myself writing weekly, if not daily. I had grossly underestimated the toll that a change of surroundings can take on a person. When I was back in India, I would get enamoured by how eminent writers like Hemingway used to spend…
One of the surprising facts I learns was that YouTube are now doing up to 2Mbps H.264 Video for 1080P content. And the quality is quite impressive for Internet Video. And the world doesn't seems to want to save bandwidth from Audio Codec, vast majority of it are using 256Kbps AAC / Opus rather than 128Kbps. As…
When we spotted her garden from far away we were theorising on what could be growing. One of her family members spotted us leaf and drain inspectors. They rolled their eyes and made way for Ajita kakima to take charge. The matriarch introduced all the trees like her old friends. There was jamun, mango, banana,…
condition1 ? (condition2 ? option1 : option2) : option3 I like the conciseness of them. They are easy for me to read and reason about in the moment. They are not easy to reason about in 2 months time when I encounter it again. Its why I prefer some verboseness to ease and help future me if condition1 return condition2…
For the longest time, whenever I would be asked, "where do you see yourself in 5 years?", my mind would stray away. The beauty of human imagination is that it is unrestricted. A thought is swift enough to traverse wide enough. I would wonder if it is a luxury car, a big house, frequent travelling, ability to lay my…
My antisocial personality would like to talk, but at same time don't have energy to be socialite!
Is beauty an end? In a sense, yes. Pure beauty offers no new information; it resonates with what we already know, this is why we find it beautiful. Beauty refines our neuroverse-based abstract model, sharpening our understanding, in an infinite quest for micro-optimising the model, but eventually leading to stasis.…
We are the patient-zero generation for a lot of things that were, safe to say, uncommon practices even a decade and a half ago. When Walt Whitman said, “The future is no more uncertain than the present”, he implied that while what is to come is hard to tell. It is equally hard to understand the consequences of our…
I understand they happen to be there because it's cheaper and simpler, but what a tasteless and generic place to put them. Lighting can be beautiful if you set the sources gracefully. Indirect lighting can make a magic atmosphere and functional lightning can be a great tool depending on your goals. But "one light bulb…
Today while walking in the contemporary museum there were so many pieces that I just resonated with, sometimes I would catch myself smiling or even feeling a feeling sadness depending on the emotion that the artist is going for. Its crazy how as humans we can transmit emotions and feelings through storytelling, words…
i'm editing some stuff that i wrote a long time ago while getting "hydrated" before my run (i heard it's important) and it is so whiny and depressing and i feel so bad for myself but i also think i had zero self-awareness i said things like "i'm attracted to brutes" and it's like, name ONE fucking brute you've ever…
L. Frank Baum’s book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, which appeared in 1900, is often held to be a parable for the Populist campaign of William Jennings Bryan, who twice ran for president on the Free Silver platform—vowing to replace the gold standard with a bimetallic system that would allow the free creation of silver…
Writing a weekly newsletter is challenging and energizing. But two? That's a different animal. As i continue this 100-day project -- writing content, art, formatting, frequency, whether or not to offer paid subscriptions and etc -- it suddenly occurs to me i still have to write content for my weekly,…
Sentir vontade e…
A professional is someone who is paid to perform a task. A dentist is paid to care for teeth. A teacher is paid to impart an education. There are clearly defined and agreed upon definitions for professions; organizations are established to accredit individuals and revoke those credentials when ethical norms are…
I wish more people would admit when they don't understand something. There's a typical pattern I've observed in meetings at work where a person is trying to explain something complicated or technical. I often see the speaker periodically asking things like, "Right?" or "Get it?" and everyone just nods their head…
It's very popular out there the notion of building a habit by taking the activity in question on practice it every day for a certain number of days. It's embedded in many popular apps like Duolingo or Strava. I think it got popularized by the habit building experts out there and also due to the Seinfeld strategy. You…
How to get attracted is to be interesting - study the material and know the content Not aiming to play with words or being superficial like looks etc… Be interesting means reading more about it, actually infuse and understand it, being in the moment to joke around You wanted to be original & you don’t want to copy…
There were two doors. Not identical. No, that would have been easier. One was familiar, worn at the edges, its handle shaped by years of use. The other stood newer, not inviting exactly, but deliberate. It suggested movement, not comfort. He had the key to neither. That was the first mistake people make when they…
For two years in mid-1970s Srinagar, I'd walk down the lane where we lived, cross Maulana Azad Road and traverse the Polo Ground, a vast expanse to my 7 year-old self. Then, crossing Residency Road, I'd make my way down the Bund to Grindlays Ghat, named after the eponymous British bank and housed in a colonial era…
One of the biggest misconceptions is that stories need to be action packed, or they'll be boring. The top 13 movies in 2021 were all action movies. The top four were superhero movies, with number one being, of course, Spider Man. There's this pervasive idea that a big movie means explosions and guns and superpowers.…
What happens when a world imaginary yet real chooses to collapse within itself, annihilation they call out loud but that dystopian is far stretched to be comprehended for physicality to experience. Yet, for a subjective individual withdrawing from an addiction would be a close reference to that “annihilation” wherein…
When we watch Black Panther, the first thing that comes to mind is Wakanda, the magnetic technology, the glittering skyline, and the promise of a future untouched by colonization. It looks like the perfect city: modern, proud, and self-sufficient. In many ways, urban planners in our world share the same fascination.…
running away is easy. you can run away from problems. you can run away from solutions. you can run away from reality. you can run away from delusion. you can run away from love. you can run away from hate. running away from anything is easy because you're afraid of stopping. you're afraid of stopping one day and…
Hi, I'm using these posts to practice writing. Here's a paragraph to start off with. I've never written before so feel free to express your thoughts on how I'm doing. I don't know where to begin. I can't even imagine how all this started. My first memory is pretty dark. I can recall my mother snuggled up to me for the…
Start slow. Then whenever you progress you’ll learn along the way to make it the best - that’s also a way of starting: when you start to do, you start to learn as well! Never be afraid of starting. Being procrastinating isn’t going to anywhere. It’s not a good system. It kills you slowly, laying on the bed rather than…
