Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
"The political slogan of the anti-Christ is peace and safety. ... and you get it when you have a sort of a homogenized, one-world, totalitarian state. What I want to suggest in closing is perhaps we would do well to be a little bit more scared of the anti-Christ, and a little bit less scared of Armageddon." -- Peter…
More need to realize the age we as a species will soon enter. While the old system titters at the brink, the dawn of a new way of life will follow quickly and make the suffering of this age die like a bad habit. Let me explain (and this is the perfect platform to do this). Every technology we’ve built has iterated…

Are the poor more generous than the rich? It's an interesting if romantic notion, somewhat backed up with serious but contested research. But while the science isn't clear, most of us have personal experience of the generosity of the not-so-fortunate. As a little boy in mid-70s Srinagar, I'd sometimes be given the…
How many social media websites will it take for us to stop feeling lonely? It's so easy to like an instagram post, to make a tweet, to add friends on facebook. So easy to feel interesting, admired, validated. We continue to cast our nets into the abyss to find more people like us, mistaking validation for finding a…
We’re meeting more and more. Our calendars are full of it. But why is our hearts empty? The more I’m glued to my screen, listening to faceless voices, the less I understand. Why am I here?
Of trying to be the responsible one. Of trying to be the one with empathy Of trying to keep my own value in my mind Of trying to receive an iota of love and care of what I need Of being the one constantly abandoned Of giving it my all Of just trying sometimes.
In the immediate aftermath of the 2020 US elections, Ed Pilkington of The Guardian suggested that US democracy was failing in five key areas: voter suppression, the structure of the Senate, redistricting, the appointment of judges and of course, the electoral college. There's another structural element that…
Why is it that you see most of the philosophers talking about high performance rarely act upon them and are high performers? Philosophers tend to romanticize life in their heads and yet dont see the beauty of the world they live in. Here, is something to note that I have read some of the works of Alan watts, Jiddu…
The airport, a place where people from all over the world meet, sitting here and looking at the people passing through just makes you wonder what kinds of lifestyles do this people have, their story. Is kinda fun to try to guess and make up stories about it. There are so many possibilities in life, so many different…
The big picture is tempting, especially if you’ve been there before. You think you know exactly how to get there. There’s a problem focusing on the big picture. Whether it’s familiar or new, there are many distractions. Having that big picture in mind is needed as a goal. The options you have to reach the goal can be…
I recognise that im not the most burdened human in the entirety of the world. I understand that people have suffered through wars, famine, and several other atrocities, far more macabre than i could even think of, and yet they somehow find the will to live. And then theres me, sad. I still see no point in living.…
Being okay with not being okay. Contradiction? Kinda. Really it’s different layers. Maybe you’re not okay at one level, but if the higher level is okay with it, then on the whole, you’ll feel okay. Maybe your bank account is zero. Is that a problem? Yes of course, but an equally correct answer is: Only if you treat it…
- playfulness of thought / intellectual playfulness - freedom of thought - privilege of pointlessness
I‘m really bad at finishing something significantly earlier than the deadline. One reason for that is procrastination - I just need this hard deadline in order to get going. I work best under pressure. Another reason is perfectionism. Often, I just can’t stop overthinking and fine-tuning something. Thus can be a good…
I haven't published a writing in some time even though I started a blog post about the struggles with my wife. I have been distracting myself with my hobbies and social events and she needs me at home, or rather, present, since I am always at home. I have taken a break from learning the piano, in practice. I was…
In 30 min more I'm going to a volleyball training, I know no one, I have realized that if a know someone even if I know them only online, not even in person, I have no anxiety when going to social gatherings. When I don't no anyone at all its a completely different story, I start to question if I should go or not, my…
I am the type who like analogies. I understand things better with analogies. I am aware that this type of thinking is not dynamic, and perhaps out of touch with reality. But as a thought exercise i enjoy doing this in my head. sometimes it helps me avoid bad startup ideas outright. And many times it makes me believe a…
Lately, I have been listening to podcasts again after I'd been abstinent for almost a year. Right now, that's helping me with two things: 1. Healthy dosing of news Over the last couple of years, I had ran into the trap of news on social media. That included on only doomscrolling the news feed itself while not actually…
Sick infants cry, some sick infants have increased respiratory rate. Assessment of respiratory rate is important for identifying the disease and assessing the general wellness of the child. This is pretty difficult to do when the infant is crying. This led me to wonder if the rate of vocalising?/phonation? while…

Until recently, the idea of relapsing never crossed my mind, and I used to dismiss it as an exaggeration. In my judgmental mindset, I couldn't understand why people couldn't just change for good if they truly wanted to. However, my perspective took a significant turn just a week ago. As I mentioned earlier, I embarked…
Micro habits are important for creators. They build muscle memory to ship things faster. In my opinion, two foundation habits are - writing and reading. Atomic writing is a forcing function to reduce fluff. A path to clear thinking. But more importantly, It's a small bet that reduces inhibition in sharing. It gets you…
In the book "Thinking Fast and Slow" by Daniel Kahneman, there is a distinction made between two aspects of thinking: system one and system two. System one refers to fast and automatic thinking, while system two involves slow and deliberate thought processes. For everyday tasks like opening doors or getting dressed,…
tradition, convention, protocol; these are tools to control and manipulate groups of people. rules are meant to enforce behaviour that is largely not natural. you basically momentarily pretend that you care, but mostly you don't. it's liberating to be able to live without having to pretend. you pretend to comply,…
Reflecting on the experiment of writing every day for more than a month, I can say that, at first, like any other challenge in life, it seemed daunting. You doubt yourself and are scared of all the "what ifs" that could happen. The first days are probably the hardest; there is a change in your life, and you're not…
To honor your mother and father is not to obey what they say, to honor your mother and father is to respect them.
ahhhhhhhhhhhh this week instead of my daily renders i took the time to develop more of a framework around how to use an AI text to image generator. with unlimited possibility for iteration, the power is to add layers of complexity slowly to the process as progression continues to further hit the design ethos. emphasis…
I’m a big advocate of making the most out of the cards you’re dealt. Take what you have in the current moment and start fixing things. Slowly but surely, and within a reasonable timeframe, you’ll get what you want — or at least you’ll be 2X or 10X better than when you first started. Even if don't get what you want, or…
"The clear breakthrough for me Was realizing everyone I was admiring online, spent most of their time creating and engaging offline" - @hipcityreg There's a french expression that goes "goutte d'eau qui fait déborder le vase" which effectively translate to "the last drop to make the vase overflow" and that's what…
Of course it's been pointed out with increasing frequency of late, but I believe it bears repeating. This addiction to seeking out the comfort of the likeminded to the exclusivity of all others and recoiling from the sheer audacity of differently-minded people to exist cannot possibly lead to anything good in the long…
Words for myself, words for others. The stream of words make sense in context (perhaps), but not necessarily relevant out of. Do hashtags provide that context or should words be used to create it? Semantic pinning is ambiguous without sharpened tokens.
Today, in the book store I couldn't stop myself from looking at art and design books, from interior design, botanical sketches to oil paintings, my eyes just felt like a magnet towards them, they were full of potential for design inspirations, right now I have a huge urge to create something, make projects, but I…
there are pleasures for which there SHOULD be some guilt involved for example: physical books used to be trees. reading books is technically a guilty pleasure if you really care about that kind of stuff, like, killing wildlife and stuff when you really think about it, almost every aspect of "modern" life becomes…
For the longest time, whenever I would be asked, "where do you see yourself in 5 years?", my mind would stray away. The beauty of human imagination is that it is unrestricted. A thought is swift enough to traverse wide enough. I would wonder if it is a luxury car, a big house, frequent travelling, ability to lay my…
Ahh i don't think we will ever see a way permanently remove 'bad' actors from our worlds. one one side of the venn diagram we have the 'good' actor, on the other 'bad' actor, the position intersecting both is our utopia. i question what will it look like...
the idea of inbox zero is enough to make my head spin. to be honest, I've felt this way for a while, but being available has always felt like one of my biggest strengths, so I've tried to put my head down and persevere. the problem is the demand never stops. and the more you take on, the less boundaries you set, the…
2 Years of online college and 1 month back offline showed me the massive differences of the two lives academically, socially and in terms of career. Academics (classes), both offline and online were same in terms of value add for me. The value add was 0. It's not that the professors or bad, or the environment isn't…
A lot of people likes to use the above graph and article to show how hard drive continue to fall. If you Zoom out over long enough period of course if will look fine. But if we look from 2013, where HDD price was slightly bumped up due to Thailand flooding, we saw price /GB went from $0.04 to $0.015 in 10 years time.…
Some days will be lit. Other days you’ll have to find your fire.
why is it so hard to communicate and be understood? i feel like this is the hardest thing we have to do as humans.
Today, I pitched during pitch night by build I felt good, I think I did a good job. I also feel like I was able to contribute very quickly to getting the presentation done, moving and increasing the quality/ funniness of it. Here is how I am trying to make the most out of the build cohort: 1. Meet interesting people,…
This is obviously a very easy answer. I will be on my phone. If I happen to have my ear buds with me, I would use them to listen to an audiobook or a podcast. If I didn't have my earbuds or I needed to hear what is going on around me, I would prefer to read some book in my phone's kindle app. Else I would be scrolling…
Don’t be too available and vulnerable when meeting new people Be calm Having a lot of your mind and thinking a lot - that’s what a more logical people would do. Blurting it out is too emotional and sometimes easy to lose people’s interest [Meeting with Lisa] Grasping the emotional components of conversation Getting…
There is a word in Hindi called 'theherav.' It comes from the Hindi word theherna(to stop), but theherav doesn't mean to stop. It means something related to a person's character that allows them to feel collected most of the time. You know how many people make being clumsy their personality? A person with theherav…
