Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
OK. Here's my attempt at using nicheless. What I like: + The minimalistic UI + No-fluff usability; even lack of formatting! + Lack of media and all that comes with it Few questions though + Would it help increase my writing? Is there less pressure due to the smaller word limit? Can I aim for a post a week? + Would it…
To look back at this year, I need to go back further, starting with 2007. I have a tainted memory of a late night wrestling with my thoughts, I seem to remember thinking to myself that I was insulated from the worlds problems because I live in the UK. A few months later, I witnessed a global financial meltdown and the…
I rather enjoy making my brain twist and turn, to make it work, to give it the muscle shock, and say: "Hey! Dummy! Wake up! It's time for you to get back to growing." Off the top of my head, I would say learning a new language, learning bridge or chess, and now, playing the piano. As a creature of habit, and shallow…
News update: I get a call from Shoo that she is now dating someone new. That person happens to be Nelson. My reaction 1: I am not surprised, kinda saw this coming, don't worry, I'm not mad. My reaction 2: My best friend is dating someone I have had bad experiences with. What do I do? I had a call with Nelson. That…
Creating positive experiences to share with others is easy. Consider your smile. Everyone wants to experience something that puts a smile on their face. You control your own smile. You can also make others smile. It’s easier than you think. Make a list of what makes you smile. Here are a few things that make me smile.…
"To escape fear, you have to go through it, not around." -- Richie Norton A few days ago, on my way to the gym, I saw a dog barking and provoking a bull, causing it to run amok. The dog didn't shy away from fear; instead, it charged straight at it, refusing to be intimidated by the bull's size. Surprisingly, the bull…
It began back in early march of 2024. I'd just returned from my birthday trip to Iceland. My partner at the time, recently unemployed had come along for the trip. I'd already felt some resentment from having to pay for everything on my own birthday trip, though the trip was my idea, so this wasn't justified. Upon…
It was a productive Monday. My apple pencil came and so did the cat food. Went to h-mart to get stuff and ate more leftover curry. Started thinking of ways to improve my workflow on the new iPad. Had a recording itch and tried using garageband. Sleeping late.
Gives me perspectives on How you always work so hard for someone And you gotta be fearless & understand you don’t have any thing that drags you down E: if you don’t love the girl or the guy, it’s okay to let it go - and if you’re on the other side Understand that it’s okay & let it go Kinda in your situation now Just…
On LinkedIn, I recently wrote a brief response to this FT article by Martin Sandbu: https://www.ft.com/content/6f70bbcd-72b7-4518-be6b-401adba7cc34?s=09. I'm posting a lightly-edited version of my response here: While this discussion is certainly welcome, I find it somewhat one-sided, given it comes from the side of…
I don't even know Why am I here HE didn't tell me Just left me in fear To figure it out For myself Without making sure That it is all clear This is not fair In any which way What else is to be done Someone who knows Please come And quickly tell me The direction to be taken Whether to go This way or that one This is…
… and break it down. Will they make their bed Will they lay for 15 more minutes and be late What do they know The things they know and don’t - and how they act to get those information How they work around with people
ahh a text i keep putting off from re-reading "the generic city" by Rem Koolhaas. from memory it speaks of ideas around identity. today i am seeing more conversation around identity from design. in contradiction to identity some designers thrive by removing identity...
Eu apontava a…
Legacy is an idea that has recently been top of mind. Coupled with my retaking three PKM-related courses, I have been thinking about how and whether one's digital and physical "assets" (note to self: there are likely more descriptive and representative words) related to knowledge management provides for one's legacy.…
I got off track today. I intended to concentrate on two items I prioritized. But somewhere along the way, I thought about cooking dinner. Suddenly, I was looking at new recipes. I love to cook. Tomorrow, I’ll employ a journaling strategy to stay on track before going down rabbit holes. I'll use my journal to obtain…
I've noticed that, for some reason, I write when I'm unhappy. More generally, I often seem more creative when I'm less happy. How could that be? Perhaps it's because when I'm less happy, it's like there's a hole in my life that I need to fill. My instinct is then to find or make things to fill that hole. The feeling…
i had to name you. one year later, i finally call you what you were: an abuser. does it ever hurt, knowing that you drove a knife through me without ever stabbing me? does it ever haunt you, how i kept begging for you to stop but you were drunk on ego? do you ever get scared of the way it will all come back to you? it…
You’ve come a long way, GMT. A little more than a hundred years ago, a stevedore on a ship going from the south of China to the Philippines flicked you over to a young man to help his even younger bride with her seasickness as they made their way to their new life in an unknown land. Half a century ago, you mopped the…
i just read an article about forks being the least famous and favoured utensil compared to its mates knives and spoons. it's not even about the topic that intrigues me. it's about knowing this fact now when it already feels so natural for us to use this thing, like it is an extension of our body when we eat. however,…
Got to think that one of the main deterrents acting against a writer’s production is the idea of his readers knowing he thinks or feel certain things. Period.
I have always struggled to read books and I'm not talking just about the textbooks. No matter with how much enthusiasm I buy a book, the completion rate of reading a book used to be very low for me. However, this year I experienced a major shift in approach towards building a habit of reading. I wanted to summarise my…
so this is basically my first time writing here I have written some small things here an there thought of giving a try here too so i want to start a process or it will be my theme where i will be writing something once in a weekend in a way where ill be asking questions or your opinions about some of my thoughts or my…
Sometimes you are just doing the daily job and then thinking what am I doing and what I really want to do?? You are at cross roads just trying to push yourself through and at some point you loose all of it and start to questioning all the things in your life. Then suddenly you look at people who have become great by…
Campaign finance reform? Even limited private money financing of campaigns dilutes the public vote. Money votes everyday ... humans vote once every couple of years. Even if the donor did not intend to influence, the nature of money creates an indebtedness. Put the bribes aside and let's see what we have.
I have written my 7th July journal! It is a super long ass bitching session where I complain about every single fight I have had with Musti this week. Also, hello. Today is a monumental day - because today is the day I put in my papers at McKinsey. I have sent it out, guys. I don't have another job offer in hand, but…
'FOMO', although a very gen-z term ,is somewhere a deep rooted fear of many. As, no matter what, grass always seems to be greener on the other side. All these apps such as instagram, snapchat, netflix etc are thriving because they instill fomo in individuals. The world has too much to offer and one wants to grab it…
All great people have gone through hell. All great individuals have endured their share of challenges. In our world, where we constantly compare ourselves through the touch of our phones, we've forgotten the effort it takes to achieve what we see on our screens. History repeatedly demonstrates that life consists of a…
Think while do, but do more than think - is what a youthful soul would do Join more events meet more people do not be afraid nobody can bring you down except yourself Energy levels - always want to know the latest updates Not afraid of asking questions Knowing that eventually it will go to you Knowing the latest…
There are moments that we don't really feel proud of, moments or decisions that come as an reaction to something, for example, responding in a certain way, with a certain tone of voice, but it just comes out of us. These moments as well as many other might it be good or bad experiences and reactions are still part of…
i've been talking to a newish friend a lot lately and i am getting oversaturated with him! SATT. gnuag g'ha he is great in some ways; tenacity of spirit, willingness to try, writes great music but my god i know other people with spirit, willingness and talent and who ALSO have verbal intelligence and philosophical…
how did i get here - and where is everyone else?
The room was silent and my body was motionless. But my mind was agitated. I’d been sitting cross-legged on the floor for over an hour, with sweat dripping down my brow, and intense pain radiating from my knees. It felt like they were being crushed by giant invisible fists that were provoked by my stillness. I needed a…
Lots of ideas are running around my head - I've always wanted to write more. Writer's block? Self-doubt? Over-editing? Perfection being the enemy of the good? I don't really have a good excuse why I haven't. I love everything that Louis builds and when I saw his latest project, I thought this would be a good way to…
I've often pondered the concept of states and governments. When you zoom out, it's actually quite strange and alienating: some institution draws a line, declares that the land within it belongs to them, and all people living there must follow the rules set from above and give up a part of their belongings. On one…
We must know that there's a difference between being free and doing nothing. I'm a type of person who keeps track of things, set reminders, and make to-do lists. These are few of the ways to sort out my fucked-up prioritisation. But there are days, where I've got work to do, targets to complete, goals to fulfil, and I…
I first read Akshay’s piece on the blog lamenting the vicious cycle of bad writing that lawyers develop. His recommendation at the end was elegant: write more! I seek not to dispute his claim but to give the reader some food for thought on writing style. If you are introduced to the classics as I were, in fourth grade…
Is 1+1 = 3? Looking at my past relationship I see 1+1 is 10 in the beginning. But when the relationship goes to the end one of the 1 is not making less of his own number and he comes even less than what he’s supposed to be: a 1. He was less than a 1, and the other 1 does not care. The maths doesn’t make sense anymore…
Twenty-four years ago, I had a great idea. I started a journal to record my sons' actions and words. Sometimes I look back at old photos and wonder about the details behind the picture taken. A written record provides even more details. My great idea lasted about eight months. Then nothing. Now I am writing and…
Take a new leap of faith Read the book Go to events Go to sports meet new people Travel the world for half a year Talk to people you wanted to talk to Listen to podcast Ask for a raise Don’t escape from the hard things in life by short term dopamines (insta, fb, YouTube, dinner, sleep, etc…) Put your mind in it Put an…
I read a fascinating essay about the role of imagination in expanding human experience and how actors are a conduit for the audience to travel through the art they are witnessing. That's loosely the inspiration for this post, although you will find it to be slightly different. Plato viewed the power of imagination, or…
Most of us work towards building a life you don't need to escape from. A free life. "F(ree) You". There are few moments in life where your perspective to life alters completely. One such event was when my investments started to cover my monthly expenses and beyond. I managed to reach this point owing to many reasons,…
A great bath feels like a tonic. Two baths in a day, and I bet you will complain about life a little less. Have you also noticed how your mind suddenly calms down near a water body? Listening to the ripples of river water or the rhythmic crashing of sea waves brings a sense of tranquility to our ever-racing minds. I…
Obviously not this one. There's a lot of rambling in my head too, like now. But because these are ramblings, do they matter? Are they worth thinking at all? Should they be shared? Where do our limits lie in thoughts?
Perceptions give me the benefit of the doubt with an unseen cost
We grow up in small contexts. Until the internet. Life was local. Sentiments were local. Supply and demand were local, and hence taste. The menu available for leisure had limited options. Liberalisation and globalisation opened the world to new experiences. As part of the generation that grew up in this time, I…
