forks are evil

i just read an article about forks being the least famous and favoured utensil compared to its mates knives and spoons. it's not even about the topic that intrigues me. it's about knowing this fact now when it already feels so natural for us to use this thing, like it is an extension of our body when we eat.

however, i remember, when i was young - i always thought forks are for rich people. i did not know how i came up with that proposition, but i know it's mainly because we only used our forks when there are guests at our home. i remember the time, i went to a friend's house and her mother prepared us lunch. there in their round table, she placed: a huge bowl of rice, a casserole of chicken adobo, a pitcher with cold water, a drinking glass with juice, a spoon, and, well, you know, a fork. i thought to myself "this is a time where i can pretend to be rich." and that, i did. i imagined i was a pro when using forks, stabbing that viand and bringing it inside my mouth like i have been doing this activity for years.
