Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
ppl dream so small. every comment on every live performance of every artist says "i want to go to their concert". not i. i want them to sing this to me privately in the fucking shower. matt healy. "robbers" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qu2QXKDNoWs this. in the fucking shower. let's go.
I think about meaning a lot. Maybe it’s because meaning wasn’t up for debate when I was younger. There was a book that laid it all out. No questions to ask. Just faith. But I question if there ever was real faith in me. I think there was fear and shame. There was desire to belong. And there was longing for meaning.…
Life is fragile. A single event, decision, fight, health issue or any other reason can cause one's life to end, and the same goes for the rest of us. We never know what another people are really going through; social media doesn’t tell the whole story, and we can’t predict what will happen to us. So, let's be kind to…
There are times and topics that make me want to lay in the middle of the floor and stay there until... who knows. I have yet to take that option. Yesterday at a mental health facility a patient opened the door to his balcony, looked down, turned around, and laid down in the middle of the hallway until someone came and…
I have a friend at work who is absolutely convinced that the World Economic Forum is a nefarious organization that is slowly reaching its long tentacles into every conceivable aspect of human life. "The agenda," as he calls it, is the WEF's plan to have us all eat crickets, own nothing, and live in…
More than half a decade ! I will be done with my current job soon, after having spent more than 6.5 years here. It feels strange , disconcerting , sad , exciting and a strange sense of relief as well. I don’t know what to feel or think anymore and hence am letting all sorts of emotions and feelings wash over me. This…
The simultaneity of continuity and change is one of the greatest paradoxes that shapes the way we lead our lives. Humanity has more or less perfected the art of passing down elements unique to cultures across generations. Culture ensures we carry the useful things forward with us. Things that aren't get changed. While…
One of the most vivid memories I have, of witnessing violence in cinema comes from a Malayalam film called 'Karumadi Kuttan' where the mentally disabled male protagonist is being physically abused by a bunch of goons to the point of him being stripped in public, laughed at, hit-all because the protagonist was trying…
So long I worked and toiled and begged. To make a small dream come true. Everything came undone, with a nod, a slip and slow announcement. I don't want to dream anymore. It hurts so much to feel so worthless. So incompetent and dumb and silent. So foolish and stuck and silent. I dont want to dream anymore. And have no…
In the last weeks I haven’t spent enough time defragmenting my thoughts. Too much stimulation, too little processing - and I already notice the negative effect on my mental wellbeing. I need to take better care of my attentional space. More carefully select the external information I consume, and give more time and…
I've always been fascinated by things that don't belong together in any context. Monkeys and forget-me-nots. Pencils and wheels. Embers and bubbles. They don't, have not, and will not belong together in any plausible context. I suppose the magic lies in bringing unlikely beings together, a trope I absolutely adore. It…
I have a(nother) fun theory that I like, but have no idea of the veracity of. It's a two-parter: 1) I think people have an intuitive sense of someone's accent, only by sight. 2) I think it's because accents change faces. My basic premise is that different accents and languages activate different facial muscles - the…
I ain’t good writing stuff tbh. Hell, can’t even write anything good like shakespear but its the thought that counts :p Music has always been apart of me. From when i was in the womb until now, and maybe in the future. It was my only way of escaping from reality, extinguishing the fiery feeling in my chest after an…
2023 - a new year. A new year where people will make and, inevitably, break new year resolutions. Like last year. I resolve to begin my writing journey…with consistency. I prefer short form - short and succinct. This is my aim. What will I be writing about? People say specificity wins. Maybe that will evolve over…
one of my goals in life used to be to feel stoned without smoking weed and i realized that you can do that it's called art. consume it, make it. listen to music go on a run (yes specifically go on a run) it's very simple and this is why proust thinks that art is the purpose of life
This isn't the first time I am attempting to maintain a streak. I've done it before. In 2019, I kept a diary and wrote a line or two about each day of the year. Sometimes it would be detailed, while at others, not so much. In 2018, I started doing the daily house chores with full intention. I would help at home as…
we started the day with a to-do list of "things we can tolerate doing today plus some things that seem pretty necessary" just items flying out of our mouths - drain, fill, drain, fill, drain, fill water tank - return packages - laundry - replace thermostat and so on and i have done TWO things and now i am taking a…
It will seem quite ironic - on a platform which is literally titled 'nichless blog', I am writing on a very specific niche - the trials and tribulations of a law firm associate. When you think about the life corporate lawyers lead, you either imagine them cribbing about how their immense work pressure, or you think…
HAVE I SAID ALL I HAVE TO SAY? Do those I love know the depth and history of that love, and that it persists beyond dimensions? Why am I waiting to tell them? Am I waiting for perfection before sharing my thoughts in writing or via speeches? What opportunity will I lose if the moment passes? HAVE I DONE WHAT I HAVE TO…
I recognise that im not the most burdened human in the entirety of the world. I understand that people have suffered through wars, famine, and several other atrocities, far more macabre than i could even think of, and yet they somehow find the will to live. And then theres me, sad. I still see no point in living.…
so i have been very lost in my mental health for the past few weeks, not getting enough meditation in, i bounced back on pornography, my workouts have been inconsistent, i am not studying enough. I feel guilty for not doing enough, always, no matter how much work i do, i just feel that i can get more of it done. I…
Moods, nausea and fear washes over me in tides and recedes just like that. Like my therapist said, fear needs to be embraced. It's an emotion that serves one quite well if embraced properly. I try to slowly build a friendship with fear because something tells me she will be a companion for life. Fear is a sneaky…
If not you, who? If not now, when? You’re like KS when he came to SG at first Don’t think yourself as “lucky” Malaysian or think low of yourself Think you’re the special one even though you’re not - but you can be! Work hard and there’s no luck
the problem with creative writing is that it messes with your "serious" writing. when you're in creative mode, you can do whatever you want. there are no rules. you can get away with a hand-wavy explanation of something under the guise of being an artist or whatever. it's not that creative writing doesn't have well…
Perspectives are so important.. You can be whatever you are if you put yourself to it Really there’s a “better” way to do it than you did - and you’re getting there; Calling off MC Telling people no Striking conversations Putting yourself into uncomfortable situations And growth. However there some thing you can do.…
The people you love and care about make you want to go out and be present. In the past, I preferred to stay at home, lock myself away, and avoid socializing. But this changed with the right people. True friends, a loving family, and loved ones make you proactive, eager to make memories and go out, I don't feel lazy at…
We often sign up for tasks without considering whether we'll be able to show up with full intention. We think about how fun or exciting it'll be to experience something. Soon enough, we begin to wonder - did we even think clearly? The sudden responsibility to be fully present is daunting. But we get baited by the rush…
I first read Akshay’s piece on the blog lamenting the vicious cycle of bad writing that lawyers develop. His recommendation at the end was elegant: write more! I seek not to dispute his claim but to give the reader some food for thought on writing style. If you are introduced to the classics as I were, in fourth grade…
When you’re young it’s okay to make mistake Just be brave to get it back up And learn from it Be brave to dream And do what it is that you wanted to do What’s most matter (especially shown in Asian male context) Is your ability and the knowledge you leveraged against others It’s a game of either you know or don’t…
As a positive person, I still have a strong Eeyore characteristic. I have doubts. You seldom hear me express this side of my personality. Acting positive and confident follows the belief that you should act like you want to be. So I appear to have a positive outlook. Which, of course, I do have, except for when I…
When I'm with you, I feel like I'm a thousand feet tall. When I think I've lost you, I feel like I'm dying. I live for all the little moments I spend with you, your smile, your voice, the little curve of your nose and the silly way you make the worst things funny. You are never far from my thoughts. I could write a…
For the longest time I've had a not so healthy relationship with consuming content. I would feel guilty about watching a show or a movie. One of the major reasons was that I had procrastinated so much on the things I should've done that when it was leisure time, it felt wrong. I felt like I hadn't earned it. Have you…
My eldest cousin took me out to a handful of football matches in 2015. He had come back from his masters in the UK and I was extremely delighted to go watch football with him. I enjoyed and loved hanging out with him. I don't remember much about what we did and some of the tiny details but I remember how I felt. I…
Durma direito. Tome sol pela manhã. Hidrate-se. Faça uma atividade física. Caminhe. Alimente-se melhor. Escolha bem suas companhias. Semeie e cultive bons relacionamentos. Aprecie a lua. Passe mais tempo com quem te aprecia. Saiba lutar pelos…
One way to become a better writer is to take the same idea and try to get that idea across to different audiences. If you have a few places that you write, you might think that if you write one idea in one place, that’s good enough. A journal entry has just yourself as the audience. A technical blog has an audience…
A quote on an Oprah Winfrey show got me thinking about how it is important to have the good wines when we are having a bad day. The premise is that if one is having a good day, one does not need the good wine, but an excellent cabernet on a dull day will cheer one up. A glass of champagne will add a sparkle to a day…
I always carry pieces of the people I’ve lost with me. Lovers, friends and even some strangers. They reside in me. I have never been great at showing emotion or telling people how much they mean to me. But I miss them dearly. Each and everyone who added to my life. Even those from what feels like ages ago. It’s not…
Listen to more podcast. W.o.w just Be more accepting. The charismatic people are usually competent - but doesn’t necessarily means JUST smart. It means knowing the stuff but knowing how to convey as well. It’s good to have the ability to stop 🛑 1. 2. 3. But within these 3 seconds you’re actually buying time to…
When we watch Black Panther, the first thing that comes to mind is Wakanda, the magnetic technology, the glittering skyline, and the promise of a future untouched by colonization. It looks like the perfect city: modern, proud, and self-sufficient. In many ways, urban planners in our world share the same fascination.…
There are thousands of self-help books, videos, and podcasts giving me tips on how to be more productive and get more work done. While most of that is bullshit and not really actionable, there are sometimes good pieces of advice that actually make sense and can be applied effectively. However, most of this advice only…
Here's an idea. Record player Pomodoro timer. I'm sure you've heard of the Pomodoro productivity technique where you do deep work for 25 minutes, then take a 5 minute break, then back to 25 minutes of deep work. You repeat this rhythm for your allotted time, until you get the project done, etc. It allows for a good…
Do we chase happiness or Do we just chase comfort? Do we enjoy Novelty or Do we just accept self created change? Do we want praise or Do we just want to be accepted by all?
I remember having read this anon poster before. They’re not happy about the previous posts: === anon6232 Really? Are we going to celebrate Caleb after his outrageous interview with Ensenada Insiders? It’s amazing to me how he can claim he supports the local artists of La Antigua, when the most highlighted piece in the…
You're a man, 1. Wake up early. 2. Pray. 3. Make your bed. 4. Brush your teeth. 5. Drink a glass of water. 6. Review your to-do list. 7. Meditate. 8. Read. 9. Write. 10. Lift. 11. Stay sober. 12. Increase your income. Nothing hurts a man like zero progress in his life.
