We don't belong together
I've always been fascinated by things that don't belong together in any context.
Monkeys and forget-me-nots. Pencils and wheels. Embers and bubbles.
They don't, have not, and will not belong together in any plausible context.
I suppose the magic lies in bringing unlikely beings together, a trope I absolutely adore. It is always interesting to see the circumstances by which they are brought together.
There was once a forget-me-not planted on a hill. A truck-driving monkey and part-time artist (because why should a monkey have only one profession) stopped to sketch the forget-me-not. As the latter swayed in the wind, playing Rose to its Jack, the truck slid down the slope so fast it sparked and left embers in its wake. The monkey ran after the truck inadvertently pushing aside a kid blowing bubbles, who was trying to break her own record for blowing the biggest one.
Utter nonsense. Just the way I like it.
Maybe I can write fiction after all.
Not well, but I can.
