Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
All thanks to Winters: I'm basking in sun while writing this. Sun's warmth feels too heavenly these days. My society's ground is filled with people, majorly grannies with their grand kids. Every person present here has come down of their matchboxes to soak in some Vit-D. I can see so many teletubbies having fun,…
At this point I'm writing here only to and for myself. Which is fine. However, having an app (Android) to write it from would be a plus. Also, upon registering I received an automated welcome email from the Nicheless founder saying "feel free to get in touch and ask anything". So I replied saying how cool Nicheless…
I love watching MMA fights and breakdowns on videos. Slowly over time I have become a big time MMA fan. It is the pinnacle of athleticism. There is nothing quite like it. Combat sport athletes don't train to simply 'play' a sport. They train to fight with another human being. Their bodies are supremely functional and…
His eyes were shut, and everything was dark. He inhaled, sharply, snapping his head upright. It were as though life abruptly crashed into him. Slowly, he wiggled his toes. Pinky toes first, gradually working toward the big ones. He was alive, but that was all he knew with certainty. He tried to blink, but his lids…
why do some people give off the vibe like you can trust them? like they don't judge you? like you want to tell them everything? without even getting to know them, you get that vibe, and it turns out you're right! i think at my best i can have a pure childlike aura with curiosity and humor ; at my worst i'm childish…
The people you love and care about make you want to go out and be present. In the past, I preferred to stay at home, lock myself away, and avoid socializing. But this changed with the right people. True friends, a loving family, and loved ones make you proactive, eager to make memories and go out, I don't feel lazy at…
Pemuda ini bernama Timoteo Rhousdy. Tak pernah ia tahu kapan sesungguhnya ia lahir, kapan sebenarnya namanya hadir, dan kapan pula ia akan tahu siapa sejatinya orang tua kandungnya. Berkat kemuliaan hati sepasang suami-istri Teguh Fransiskus Rhousdy dan Anneke Lim, Timo—begitu panggilannya—diangkat menjadi anak bungsu…
Recently read this short story collection by Murakami and some quotes from this collection have won by heart and here they are: 1. And that span of time had created a translucent barrier between us that was hard to traverse. Even when I had to say something, the right words just wouldn’t come out. And every time I…
The last few months have been brutal for businesses. Layoff announcements, the world over, are seeing all labor go from being valuable to dispensable in no time. Isn't it a bit baffling that businesses don't pause celebrity-led campaigns while they make all the "tough calls?" A few of the big ed-tech companies in…
as for the history of black amerikka, they are & have been in plain sight. over the last 500 years, we just did not have on the correct lenses to see the whips & chains evolving. the programming that took place over 500 years ago during the creating of amerikka worked so well that we don't even know what went on with…
Hoje, especificamente,…
When I first went online, it was with the honest intention of job searching and I did look for work. In fact, the Internet would become a source of income many years later but not before I fell down the rabbit hole of Facebook. Ensue pointless fights and frequent depression but as we move out of a seismic culture…
No words can pin down what we call reality, but words too are real
Sometimes it doesn’t matter about the delivery (at first). Of course it matters but - what you started or initiated is much more interesting and useful/you’re supposed to live it that way. Imagine the scenario which you had in your head for quite a few times: You rather not do something because you’re afraid of making…
Our current understanding of biology suggests that telomeres play a role in protecting genetic information during the replication process. During every cell division, the protective ends of every strand of DNA are shortened just a bit, protecting the important stuff from damage. If memes are analogous to genes as the…
Do you have a friend who is in a toxic relationship, and as an outsider, you think, "Why the heck are you still there? Isn't it obvious?" Well, I’ve been on both sides of that situation, and it's easier said than done. As an observer, you don't have any feelings attached, so you look at it more rationally. But…
2023 - a new year. A new year where people will make and, inevitably, break new year resolutions. Like last year. I resolve to begin my writing journey…with consistency. I prefer short form - short and succinct. This is my aim. What will I be writing about? People say specificity wins. Maybe that will evolve over…
Working on an art project I only ever have 5 or 10 minutes When it turns into longer It’s a damn miracle This Project Has been going on for years And in warps 10 years is conservative It’s been 30 years Depends On what part In 10 years I will have lived in New York As long as I did in Houston The Project forks off in…
If you're here on Nicheless and also are trying to figure out how to navigate Mastodon, and are finding it not at all a friction-free process, like me... Help. How does a new user find the smart people in journalism, tech, entertainment, humor -- and, oh yeah, steer clear of the anime pornbot trolls, which I thought…
I have a love and hate relationship with fud. In general, I think it's necessary, especially in a space where 95% of the projects are going to 0. It's good to have some skepticism, but sometimes it's just too much. I've been a cool cat supporter since September. Mainly discovered it through Andrew Wang and a few of my…
As a new year's resolution this year, I would like to write a book. Nothing too complicated, something small that helps software engineers learn to make homemade ramen from scratch. I'd love to package what I know into something I can hand friends when they're in a funk, eating too much processed food, and spending…
I'm grateful for people in my past. They are influences in my life who helped me shape the person who I am today - good and bad. Off late, I have been consciously choosing to focus on and spend MORE time on people who I have a common future with rather than those who I have a common past with. It's easy to get stuck…
I have always found myself constantly searching for that one thing that will turn my life around. That one solution that will solve all my problems and make everything better. I remember times when I have lacked patience and have sought instant results. For instance, when I started doing yoga, I wanted to do advanced…
It's that time of the year again. The one when folks from the US gather around turkey and a special meal to be thankful for what they have and count their blessings. I say it like that because even though I'm not from there and I don't celebrate those dates, I still keep the idea behind it to put it into practice with…
There are some conversations where it is just so interesting, but you don't have any knowledge about or have any chance of participating, that was me today. When a topic gets too specific into a certain area that is unknown to me I'm just speechless, can't even think of relevant questions to ask even if I am curious…
My organization held a usability conference for teams in Bangalore. The goal was to push our engineers to be more UX-minded, equip them with knowledge and resources, and provide an opportunity to practice. The sentiment that all of the leadership conveyed was that we are at an inflection point in our org and product.…
My birthday is February 14. I have a week to decide what gift I should ask for that is going to define my life. Snowboard pants? A raspberry pi to run a Bitcoin full node? My wife asked me what she should nudge the kids to get me: post-apocalyptic graphic novels or a young adult lit book in Spanish. These are the…
Age is just a number Remember you can be young By being in your own skin Treat funny stuffs as funny stuffs Try to light up mood Your job would literally affect who you are as a person Comparing your engineering job to jobs in sales Environment are more light hearted But don’t get affected by your environment Think…
Do you have a big plan or idea that you're eager to bring to life? Something that not only benefits you but also others and the world at large? It could be bold, daring, and even risky – there's no limit to what can be accomplished. The key is to work backwards from your end goal to where you are now. Ask yourself:…
I stumbled upon this platform and became curious. Will restriction generate creativity? I believe it will, but I will have to see. Observe the changes. Useless until proven useful. But... I expect external things to provide me with inspirtaion for writing. I don't hold my own procrastination and insecurities…
I am writing this right now, so that’s how I know I’m a writer. But the problem with me as a writer is that I have no experiences of note that anyone would want to hear about. The advice I’ve always given myself (distilled down from advice I’ve heard others give) is “write vignettes, write them detailed and vivid and…
We're taught to practice with only one colour. We're taught to choose only one niche to excel in life. Jack of all trades is master of none, right!? But, did you know the original version of this quote has another line? It says, "Jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one." It…
Call me A.S.J. Just turned 16. Dont expect some Shakespeare words in my blog.I mostly use this like a digital diary when i have a shitty day or im going through smth. My interest -linkin park -cry of fear -afraid of monsters -nu-metal -playing musical instrument (guitar & piano) -video games -midnight -silence -music…
A quick thought; Interesting results for AI portraits come when a prompt is structured with two genders. An example prompt; a photograph of a woman by Man Ray. Thinking about how this sentence can be confused and how the AI could be interpreted. The woman is taken as priority, it guides the overall features, then Man…
I went to dinner with a group of strangers. After each course, I was paired with someone new. I met three interesting people. There was a stack of conversational cues on the table if we didn't know what to talk about. We were allowed talk about anything we want, except what we do. This wasn't about dating. That's not…
Yesterday we started a road trip around Scotland. Our search for lunch was constrained by the lack of variety. Fish & chips, fish & chips ... oh, and another fish & chips shop. Hungry and without alternatives, we settled for a meal that was pricey, unappetizing, and unhealthy. Why is such food prevalent and who…
I never cease to wonder which part of us summons ourselves from the great and long distance of eternity, swim through the foggy, thick, kaleidoscope of our dreams only to wake up and wonder about what we're all doing here. Each night, before bed, my 7yo prepares for her nighttime journeys by choosing from among her…
Walk around. And conceive the best things Because really; it wouldn’t make sense if you try to think “you’re special”. The fact is probably you’re not - it takes hard work to build confidence and real talent/effort into doing certain things well. It wouldn’t makes sense if there are 2000 years of mankind history And…
When I'm with you, I feel like I'm a thousand feet tall. When I think I've lost you, I feel like I'm dying. I live for all the little moments I spend with you, your smile, your voice, the little curve of your nose and the silly way you make the worst things funny. You are never far from my thoughts. I could write a…
Improvements in the human condition are easier to create and measure when times are tough. Starving? Eat. Thirsty? Drink. Homeless? Find shelter or build a home if you can afford it (if you're in Goa, good luck). --- In times of abundance though, things get slightly tricky. How do you measure if your life is good when…
On our first official full day in Finland I realized how lucky I am to have experienced so many cultures and seen so many different countries/continents. My mom couldn't stop stopping at every single corner to take pictures about the silliest things (in my opinion), for example, being surprised at how blue the sky…
A good engineering manager should prevent knowledge hoarding. Knowledge hoarding happens when an individual contributor mistakenly believes that it is in his self-interest to be the only person who knows how to do something on a team. This increases his value to the organization; if he shares his knowledge either…
I’m a big advocate of making the most out of the cards you’re dealt. Take what you have in the moment and start fixing things. Slowly but surely, and within a reasonable timeframe, you’ll get what you want — or at least you’ll be 2X or 10X better than when you first started. Even if don't get what you want, or get…
Dor aguda e constante, tonturas, ardência, sensibilidades... Coisa horrenda. E sim, estou…
I find myself mindlessly following small details around stuff I have no interest in, hour after hour, achieving nothing. It's not just me. We are all flooding our systems with more irrelevant information than ever before, and the more there is the less we can focus on any one piece. This increase in the volume of…
Have you ever have conversations You think you wants to be ready before And you slight regretted you only get to think of what you think and should’ve said One minute after what you said. You can only be ready When you keep thinking about it When your mind is occupied about the thing You can’t let yourself caught off…
