Falling in love with MMA
I love watching MMA fights and breakdowns on videos. Slowly over time I have become a big time MMA fan. It is the pinnacle of athleticism. There is nothing quite like it.
Combat sport athletes don't train to simply 'play' a sport. They train to fight with another human being. Their bodies are supremely functional and adaptable. It is the epitome of toughness and grit.
People don't realize how mental the sport of MMA is. The first opponent that you need to face is yourself. You are your greatest enemy and you need to realize that.
The consequences of being bad in this sport is grave. You can get really hurt. I have nothing but respect for all the athletes who put their bodies on the line for our entertainment. You don't just lose a game here if you make a mistake, you may lose your eye, or your limb or worse get permanent brain damage.
You have to stay alert at all times. Protect yourself at all times - as the referee says at the beginning of every fight.
You need to be ready to face the person in front of you. Be ready to harm them. Do whatever it takes to win the fight. Before or after the fight you can think of kindness but once the cage closes, you must turn into a vicious animal. If you don't your opponent can and will eat you up.
This sort of a sport is not for everyone. It requires a certain degree of mental fortitude that few in the world have.
If you are an aspiring fighter: You better be confident you are the best. You better train your ass off. Because this ain't like any other sport in the world.
