Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
some of the first things that i want to read now, before i really start reading a book, is the "about the author" section and i've noticed that it is usually like - birth year - birth place - current place of residence and it's like: why? why is this the info they choose to share? and when talking about artists of any…
The times, they are changing. We're in transition mode between a decade long bull run, and a recession that will last for who knows how long. If you stay quiet and listen carefully, you'll hear the pessimists collectively chant "I told you so". I don't blame them. They only get to be right once a decade. Meanwhile,…
I’m sad for what I won’t experience. I can imagine walking out the front door, leaving the shade of the porch and feeling the powerful sun immerse me in its warm, like i’m getting into a hot tub without the wet feeling. Maybe all these things i will miss are things i already miss from the idealized summers in south…
It’s time to lock in. Lock in on your dreams. Lock in on your work. Lock in on your standards. Do the boring work and it will work. Leave nothing to chance. Create your own luck. Lock in.
People often say running trains the body. For me, it trains the mind. When I first started, I thought it was all about fitness, endurance, calories, pace. But after a few runs, I realized the hardest part wasn’t my lungs or my legs, it was convincing myself to keep going. Every step became a small argument between the…
I saw Homebound today. It was heartfelt. It showed me a side of India that I know nothing about. How their lives go. What their routines are. What they aspire to be. What problems they deal with. Part caste and religion plays in small ways in their daily experience. I hold Varun Grover in a very high regard. I'd see…
It had been over 4 years since I last took some proper time off work, but the last 6 weeks have been great. I saw some amazing places, met some interesting people, spent time with some of my closest friends, ate some great food, and discovered some lovely alcohol (mezcal & pisco for the win!). Now that I'm back, I…
At times not doing anything even though you have a lot on your plate and too much in your mind going on is actually relaxing. I have been in that phase for the last three days and i feel lighter a lot. Too many thoughts passed through the mind and they did not bother me much. Often we are told don't take life too…
A rule I like to use when deciding how to behave is to imagine myself from another person’s point of view. Would I engage with myself if I saw myself doing that, or being that way? It’s a way to get feedback without needing anybody else, and although not ideal, it’s a good place to start. Recently, I’ve been wanting…
Don’t hate the bus, or the bus app Hate the fact that you don’t have enough money to get a car. Use the mean time to think and do efficient tasks. There’s no help in being negative thinking. Also be smart - know how to learn and find knowledge. Acquire good knowledge. Who to ask. What to know & have that think for…
From Epics thousands of years old up to James Bond and the classic Magnificent 7. We're all familiar with the idea of the hero's journey. A chaotic situation is resolved when the hero overcomes the monster and order is restored. The interplay of these forces is deeply embedded in human nature. Symbolically, think of…
Technology is not, and can never be, neutral. Since it is impossible to present all available choices with equal priority, what we choose to emphasize is an expression of our values and priorities. Choosing defaults, providing recommendations, or identifying what content is shown and in what order. These are all…
Ahhhh observe the noise; some tell stories, others reveal secrets. observe the colours; some convey intent, others reveal emotions. when combined you a character emerges, who are they...
i chose this topic because this was the recent one i came across. I really do have a big question as to why the dresses made in the met gala are so not normal and not wearable by the normal people like you and me. If something should be encouraged it should have a meaning behind it i can't see what good does it…
Hoje eu vou escrever dois textos pq me atrasei no dia 9.
I received the death news of a close relative today. For a moment I was speechless as the end of life has been the single most mysterious truth for me. It's the ultimate inevitability that makes life so precious. We acquire all the survival skills in the journey of life to meet death one day. It's also the ultimate…
Phone service, internet, electricity, hot water and all these things that are used to, that we use everyday, the change of not having them from one day to another is drastic. Yesterday, a huge storm approached and I hasn’t stopped since then, it took all of those things away from my house, it was 1 am and in my mind I…
Most of the work I am most excited to accomplish feels nebulous in nature. Maybe it's partially my level of current understanding (true expertise is abstraction/compression of complex ideas into mental models, frameworks, puns, analogies and stories), but living in the unknown is one of my most favorite feelings. In…
It's the Friday afternoon, the feeling of welcoming the weekend starts setting in, a few have made plans for Friday night, while a few are making plans for a mini vacation, a few are just thinking to just sleep and forget away the week that has gone by... U start to hear the excitement around the floor and the noise…
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh today i had an idea fade away as i tried to remember. distractions were the reason. the idea may come back and when it does, that moment is when to document it. this blog post is an attempt at reminding me of the idea. so far unsuccessfully...
Post graduation, I recently moved to Bangalore for employment. The weather which has been its trademark selling point was unsurprisngly good. Its rain however seems to be lacking in discussion, while Bangalore's overall weather is hilariously unpredictable. You'll find yourself wearing summer shorts on rainy days and…
Since 2018, I've been living a dual life. I moved back home to Goa to join the family business. The nature of my work there is exactly as you'd expect of someone running a large offline-first organisation. In other words, during the day – I'm a manager. However, after sunset, I begin my day's second shift. Location:…
“When the time comes for you to die, I will raise up your descendant, one of your own sons, to succeed you, and I will establish his kingdom. He will build a house for my name, and I will make his dynasty permanent.” 2Samuel 7.12-13. God blesses those who serve and reverence him, as he did David, but he thinks far…
Heya! I have always wanted to come back and write and reflect here more. Rather than committing myself to lofty targets, I plan to be intentionally inconsistent here and writing here only when something strikes me so hard that I cannot stop writing about it. So what's something now that I cannot shut up about it? I…
I woke up today and found out that Azuki, a project that I've been bullish on since I discovered them has airdropped me 4 NFTs worth (currently on the market) 3ETH each. For believing in this project since the beginning, I got rewarded 40K... just like that. Feels like something that only happens in the NFT space. But…
A: But why? B: Because you need to sell your art to survive. A: But why? B: ...because one must survive. A: But why? B: ...I mean...well...because death is painfool? A: But why? B: If you mean "why were we designed to feel pain," I don't know, I suppose it depends on which type of belief you subscribe to. A: But why?…
I genuinely enjoy listening and learning about the person in front of me during conversations. And I want to get better at this. The art of asking the right questions is crucial in this process. It's the easiest way to become more charismatic, as being a great listener and question asker naturally draws people to you.…
there are pleasures for which there SHOULD be some guilt involved for example: physical books used to be trees. reading books is technically a guilty pleasure if you really care about that kind of stuff, like, killing wildlife and stuff when you really think about it, almost every aspect of "modern" life becomes…
With all the AI rage out there, there's been different perspectives about the subjects. Some are interested in what tools like ChatGPT can do, others in how it works, others terrified at what it does, and there's the other folks that feel their current role is being threatened. That's too big of a discussion to try to…
Greetings, Today was a fun day, although I didn't get much work done. I had some enjoyable moments and really liked the way I spent my time. I feel that today is a day I will remember, as it marks the beginning of my journey to follow in the footsteps of Dante. I want to enter the "Hell". I was never disciplined or…
One gets a sense of a particular culture's deepest anxieties by examining its curses. Curses are an expression of a culture's most undesirable or objectionable state of being. It's like saying, "here's the thing I would dislike the most, and it's exactly what I wish upon you." The inverse of empathy. The most powerful…
i just read an article about forks being the least famous and favoured utensil compared to its mates knives and spoons. it's not even about the topic that intrigues me. it's about knowing this fact now when it already feels so natural for us to use this thing, like it is an extension of our body when we eat. however,…
Reflecting on the experiment of writing every day for more than a month, I can say that, at first, like any other challenge in life, it seemed daunting. You doubt yourself and are scared of all the "what ifs" that could happen. The first days are probably the hardest; there is a change in your life, and you're not…
On our first day in Washington, D.C., we woke up to rain. My family turned to me. “What are the plans?” I love planning. Vacations, menus, my daily schedule, planning my new Substack newsletter, any kind of planning. There’s satisfaction in looking at all the possibilities. Plans make me feel safe. Details and options…
It sometimes baffles me just how much a walk or hike in nature can boost my mental capacities. Being at home or work surrounded by books, notes and brilliant people just never get the cogs turning like the sound of birds chirping, water flowing and life happening at it's own pace. So, there I was in my local forest…
There are chaos in my head. An ocean's worth of storms inside a skull. Contradicting ideas and thoughts fighting each other like storms in the seas. However, there is no victor. Intrusive thoughts making me question my own thoughts and self. This goes to anyone who can relate with me. You, I see you. I hope we will…
I'd like to sell 1000 copies of a self-published book this year. It's a side project, the book isn't written yet and I have no idea how to market it. There are a million ways to fuck this up. Fauzia Burke wrote a book in 2016 about online marketing for busy authors. She suggested figuring out your personal brand,…
Vi går bort fra hverandre Inni oss bærer vi hver vår halvdel av det samme svaret Avstanden blir stadig større mellom det som er sant og det som er sant Vi går og går i håp om å glemme spørsmålet
liberal societies such as Europe unequivocally call for abolishing death penalty, arguing that it violates the fundamental right - the right to life. further, it is also argued that emotional impulse for revenge does not justify capital punishment, neither is there evidence to support that death penalty is a potent…
Comecei uma nova série. New girl estava na minha lista ha anos. Eu conheço a atriz que interpreta Jess como cantora. Então, está sendo legal ver ela nesse papel de comédia também. Olhos grandes e azuis. Claro, a série tem uma vibe meio pick me girl. Meio "nossa como eu sou estranha e preciso da aprovação desses…
Last Sunday, I took a reverse glass painting class. I’m not a painter. Exploring creative outlets is on my to-do list in retirement. I might find a new hobby. I might make new friends. My new experience was positive. Not for the reason you think. Learning a new skill means making mistakes. Encouragement determines the…
More like five and a half years, something that began on February 14th, 2021, Valentines Day! A fun and joyful Sunday brunch with friends which extended into another impromptu meet up in the evening with another set of friends. A day of red outfits, red roses and endless champagne! Then the trajectory of dates started…
White, fluffy, and cold, coming down from the clouds. What is it that makes snow so special, so magical? Is it because it's so rare for me, or is it the memories made during snow trips that make me unexplainably happy when I see it? Regardless, this is one of the aspects I love about Chile—being able to see such…
I wonder when it first dawned on me that one day I will not be here anymore. Was it when I was 12, roller-skating, back in my hometown? Afraid to fall or be thrown to the ground, always afraid to hurt myself beyond repair. Dreading the pain, my fists clenched, gliding on the edges of the rink. Or was it at 18, when I…
You are a coward. You know it. You have to grow out of it. You celebrate the downfall of others, then you celebrate your victory. It is your mistake. You have to grow out of it. You can never win like this. You want to be kind, but you cannot. You are mean. You liked her. You want to be with her, you want to win. But…
I strongly believe that three engineers in one room can accomplish far more than six engineers working remotely. This isn’t just about communication bottlenecks—it goes deeper than that. I've been working from home for ten months now, a significant shift after spending nine years in an office with my colleagues. Even…
just because you're entitled to an opinion, doesn't mean you're required to get one. and just because you relinquish your right to an opinion, doesn't mean you're an idiot. the brain cells required to keep up with that shit can be spent elsewhere, if you so wish it's called the freedom of thought. when i hang out with…
