What's behind the AI craze.
With all the AI rage out there, there's been different perspectives about the subjects.
Some are interested in what tools like ChatGPT can do, others in how it works, others terrified at what it does, and there's the other folks that feel their current role is being threatened.
That's too big of a discussion to try to address here.
Instead, there's one aspect I find particularly interesting about this whole AI thing. And this is demonstrated much easier with ChatGPT.
Many already know it is a "garbage in, garbage out" kind of tech.
Because it works by predicting the next words in huge amounts of data that it has been trained in.
It can give completely false and inaccurate responses in an authoritative way that makes you believe they're true.
But from its perspective, it is doing a good job because it's what it was trained to do.
Go through vast amounts of training data and see what's more likely to happen and construct responses with that knowledge.
So, in essence, AI is a terribly good technology at spotting patterns. And human history has no shortage of that.
Our "creativity" can be classified and decoded. That data can be given to an AI. And then, the AI can play pretend that's also "creative" and output types of work that often times surpasses the ones from real masters.
You actually don't need AI for that.
For hundreds of years, the real pros have detected patterns in their area of work. They have learned the rules of what works.
And then, they have broken them artistically to create new works never seen before.
Which is something AI could never do. For now, AI follows rules and replicates the patterns given.
