Gathering thoughts…
A world of little thoughts.
One of the biggest misconceptions is that stories need to be action packed, or they'll be boring. The top 13 movies in 2021 were all action movies. The top four were superhero movies, with number one being, of course, Spider Man. There's this pervasive idea that a big movie means explosions and guns and superpowers.…
I really, really tought that I was above all this situation. That I left all in the past and moved on. That I, as a grow up human been, got my shit together and solved my problems by myself and. But now it came back. It looks like a tsunami in my head and in my chest. A tsunami AND a thunderstorm. AND a earthquake.…
As is customary for me, I didn't contribute last night. I had a long day and barely even got my daily skateboarding in, which I am skipping tonight due to the weather. Today was crazy at work with so much going on and only so much time to do it in. We got it done though and everyone really busted ass. So part of my…
There is only one God, luck. Every individual is more often than not a captive of forces beyond their capacity. Such is the power of luck that it can effectively put hard work, effort and persistence to shame. Helplessness is one of the many brutal emotions known to human kind. For that is when the mind decides to…
why is it so hard to communicate and be understood? i feel like this is the hardest thing we have to do as humans.
Worry globally, neglect locally.
somewhere for this to live! - my thoughts on loving friends, blurring the platonic (or my exploration into the actual etymological/philosophical origins of the word cause.. i keep wanting to make it include romance.. which i feel is valid rn) --- "friend crushes" and what that even really means/is it a thing -…
I really miss YouTube. I gave it up for Lent and talked about it here. But I truly do miss being on the platform, talking with subscribers, watching videos in my free time, and creating helpful content for those looking to make intentional tech purchases. Luckily, I do have a good amount of sponsored videos lined up…
i have never done anything in my life i've hated as much as thinking about boat work not even working in a psychiatric hospital or sitting through tantrum fits of children who don't want to play the piano but who are anxious when i suggest that they stop taking lessons i hate this so much and i hate sebastian for…
i've been thinking endlessly about sex lately either my biological clock is ticking and i'm ovulating and the body is desperate or it's because of the things i've been writing, creatively or i'm writing those things because the clock is ticking i'm writing the story i can't get out of my head the more i write it the…
There is an attraction in Disneyworld´s Magic Kingdom very few people take any time to visit. It´s called the Swiss Family Treehouse, a steel and concrete-tree based on a 1960´s film, The Swiss Family Robinson. In the film, a Swiss family ends up stranded on a desert island after their ship is attacked by pirates and…
ahh my imagination has been sparked by a utopian concept by Superstudio. 'The Third City: New York of Brains' is a concept where a cube houses 10,000456 living brains so they can survive humanity's destruction. however i imagine what if humanity is never destroyed? we will be able to go visit this place, it would be…
If there's one thing you should know about me, it is that I adore cinema. It is my favorite art form without a doubt. Its powers are like no other. And what would be better than to make more people aware of its majestic qualities. I present you a list of 5 movies that would interest to watch and dig deeper into this…
Humans are weird, they kill each other for a thing that brings people together .Now unlike Stranger Things , this thing isn't so strange . In Fact it is quite common all around the world. That thing is religion. Religion was supposed to bring peace , hope and harmony among people . Now unlike our mouth, there are many…
In a world full of information and distractions sometimes we take for granted to look out the window, listen to our environment, and think for ourselves. Having something to say or not, sometimes we need to be an observer, and feel in some way alive, by living instead of comparing or consuming other people's lives.…
Supriya Roychoudhury's piece Hathi on FiftyTwo.in is clear in my memory both because it was excellent and because it was one of the few bright spots during the second wave of Covid in April-May 2021. (https://fiftytwo.in/story/hathi/) It told the touching tale of Hathi, an elephant presented by India to the Kabul Zoo…
If you spend yourself chasing butterflies they will fly away If you spend your time making a beautiful garden they will come to you. Charisma - is something that means YOU PUT OTHER PEOPLE FIRST THAT IS FUCKING CHARISMA - oh my god. It’s that easy - nothing to do with personality; nothing to do with funny It’s just…
In the taxi last night, conversation with the driver turned to identity - religious, national, cultural. He was a melange of Middle Eastern, Eastern European and Turkish. I'm Indian with connections to various parts of India. Neither of us was religious or believed in god, but we agreed that religion had value and…
Isn't it odd that two words from two different languages sound nearly the same? Does anyone else wonder about the twists and turns in the history of our world that led to such coincidences?
Autonomy and decision-making as an adult really does seem like a simple concept that I should have in my pocket by now. Somehow still, this practice has continued to elude me. Until now… It’s so strange and exciting to finally accept that I can move forward in such a decision as lifelong marriage commitment. And…
Today was a great day. Spend more money than I’d want to since yesterday but it’s okay but it wasn’t on drugs or booze.. tonight I made chicken Alfredo pasta w mushrooms to finish a great day
The big picture is tempting, especially if you’ve been there before. You think you know exactly how to get there. There’s a problem focusing on the big picture. Whether it’s familiar or new, there are many distractions. Having that big picture in mind is needed as a goal. The options you have to reach the goal can be…
In a society of plenty and where civic infrastructure and day to day survival is not a challenge, we often see a culture of doing good deeds and regularly paying those good deeds forward. The reverse is generally the norm where basics are missing. Its a survival of the fittest and everyone is just trying to get…
my eyes hurt from reading all night, my mind having grown imperceptibly rich, lacking focus. i think so little about my own life now, because of how much i involve myself in other people's business/thoughts TO BE HONEST. i think 76% of the rationale for reading is "I need to read if I want to write" and why do i want…
Visualization is a strategy to create a mental image of your success. Daily journaling helps you visualize your success each day. Success in whatever you hope to achieve. It starts with identifying what you want to accomplish. I write a statement of intent. I will spend an hour working on organizing my archived…
some of the first things that i want to read now, before i really start reading a book, is the "about the author" section and i've noticed that it is usually like - birth year - birth place - current place of residence and it's like: why? why is this the info they choose to share? and when talking about artists of any…
Just do everything perfectly. Once at a time. Conversations - throw away the unimportant bits. Be clear - tell yourself be clear Even when you got into shit situations Find one way to go out You are good at doing that You need to improve To be better at doing the task while doing though Don’t get stuck at previous…
Hie there, I'm a college pass out student and really looking forward to getting into a good job (Which is in the IT dept. imo). But there are times when I feel completely exhausted as I'm working on several projects and also learning so many new things about programming. I guess this time shall pass and soon I'll be…
It's counterintuitive but I think it's true. We struggle to find time to stretch our creative muscles. But modern creativity doesn't come with more freedom. It comes with more restriction. Think of Morning Pages. It became wildly successful among creative professionals because it forces you to write 3 pages. No more,…
Lately I've realised I've been quite prescriptive. A friend of a friend pointed this out and I plan to work on it. Going back to social. I wanted to start a SubStack, wrote one and dipped. This is another issue. There are rabbitholes I should jump into but haven't. On the social front, I plan to just experiment more…
There are no holy ideas in Academia. We should always strive to get better, always. I believe in the ideas of improving the human condition with the help of rationalism and science. Understanding the world and finding approximations of the truth that serve as practical solutions to the problems of our time, is the age…
I'm soon going to complete my 30th lap around the Sun. I'm not sure what life expectancy is these days, but it's fair to assume that I'm half way through life. The years ahead me will be very different from the ones of the past. I'll probably have more resources but less energy. It's like the part of the movie post…
The world announces itself loudly. It never asks for permission. It arrives as friction, metal against rail, voices colliding, engines coughing smoke into the afternoon. People move with purpose or pretend to. Everyone is going somewhere. Everyone is late. Noise becomes the proof of existence. I stand inside it and…
Back from spending time with "family" - not blood, but "adopted". had to drag myself out a bit to get there, but had a thoroughly good time with them, some of whom I hadn't seen in person for several years. It can be nice to have non-family family around. No word from my buddy, but then again, for all his faults and…
Sim. Muito…
just because you're entitled to an opinion, doesn't mean you're required to get one. and just because you relinquish your right to an opinion, doesn't mean you're an idiot. the brain cells required to keep up with that shit can be spent elsewhere, if you so wish it's called the freedom of thought. when i hang out with…
I don't believe in calling a dog he or she. They don't care if I do, nor should anyone else. By imposing gender onto creatures that just don't relate to others in those terms, we are humanising them. That sounds nice, kinda. But actually, by valuing them in human terms, we discount their value in themselves. Dogs…
Ever heard this saying, “God helps those who help themselves”? I don’t know who came up with this but it is not in the bible. If everyone can help themselves, they won’t seek God.
Some days i just sit and wonder if there is any purpose of life or we are here to find a job, earn money and spend it again on our daily needs. There is no end to this and this is a vicious cycle. We wake up everyday and go to work not because we love it but because we need to either keep ourselves busy or we need to…
Soon I'm going to start a new chapter in my life, one that I have been waiting for years: moving to a new country where I will study my dream degree and do what I am most passionate about. This is something I have manifested, talked about and it's actually happening. Honestly, right now, I can't even picture it; I…
Is beauty an end? In a sense, yes. Pure beauty offers no new information; it resonates with what we already know, this is why we find it beautiful. Beauty refines our neuroverse-based abstract model, sharpening our understanding, in an infinite quest for micro-optimising the model, but eventually leading to stasis.…
"Finish something. Anything. Stop researching, planning, and preparing to do the work and just do the work. It doesn’t matter how good or how bad it is. You don’t need to set the world on fire with your first try. You just need to prove to yourself that you have what it takes to produce something. There are no…
I'm no Psychologist, but I have a theory about human behaviour. We're all trying to maximise the following: Intrinsic Enjoyment x (Social Capital + Financial Capital) Let me break it down. First, a few definitions: 1. Intrinsic Enjoyment: How much you enjoy doing something, independent of any external rewards. 2.…
