authentically you
"Your only power in life is to inspire other people. And the only way to inspire them is to live the most authentic and genuine life to yourself possible." - Naval
Got very inspired by this quote from Naval this morning and it made me think of a recent convo I had with ldf saying how I feel almost pressured to do a podcast/Twitter spaces because it's the best way build your brand vs just writing essays/tweet-threads.
I know making a podcast is good because it helps you get exposure to a bunch of operators/projects in the space pretty easily (tip: everyone likes shilling themselves if you give them the chance to do it), which then makes it easier for them to RT you and then you also gain exposure.
But then I think back to Danny Miranda, one of my good friends I made from Twitter who is a podcast host and has already more than 200 episodes under his belt and I'm like... do I want to get to 200 episodes?
The quote I shared above made me re-think about all of this. I don't think I necessarily need to commit to 200 episodes, but I also believe that you should be doing things for the right reasons.
If the only goal to do a podcast was to get more dopamine hits, then no I don't think it's authentic and I shouldn't be doing it. If the dopamine hit is a side-effect and I'm genuinely interested in sharing my thoughts and meeting other people, then heck yea.
It's just a very thin line to navigate because the person that's the easiest to fool is yourself. It would be very easy for me to convince myself that I love podcasting, but that's also why it's important to question yourself.
