Unhinged
I recently broke up with my girlfriend of 3 years. And within 2 weeks i was back on hinge. At first I loved being on the app. The validation of women liking you for your looks with no idea how your personality would grate against theirs.
Swiping, swiping, chatting, chatting. Plenty is waxed on how great the validation is. On meeting these women, just as excited as you are - both of you hoping to have fun and be appreciated for a short while. But you'd be scratching your head if you searched for a conversation on the flip side. What about those conversation where you're ghosted? Or the conversation is so piss poor - you have no choice but to take the decision to kill the conversation.
Sometimes you even have a balance between the two. The conversation goes swimmingly, and you undertake the inevitable transition to instagram - where the conversation dies slowly.
If you can make it past the instagram barrier, you can set up a date. Which can go 3 ways - a bust (likely) - where the online vibes dont translate offline, success (unlikely) - date goes well, and both you know what you want. And lastly, situationship - where the date goes too well - and you, a chump, catch feelings.
Me? I'm the last one, i got out of a 3 year relationship and am now fighting against myself to get into another one. Happy new year to me.
