Departing & Re-entering
I spent my last 5 years studying in the north. I got through to it in my second attempt through the entrance exam, my first attempt landed me in the National University of Kerala ('NUK'). While my gap year which was spent preparing for my 2nd attempt, saw me surrounded with people who would later end up in NUK. Needless to say I thought my dalliance with NUK once i entered college.
Fast forward 5 years, now in Bangalore - I found myself isolated. Moving to Bangalore rather than Bombay like the rest of my peers had inadvertendly cut me off from my much of my support system. And so, i had no choice but to pick up the pieces and make a new one. And I did so soon enough. I found my roommates off the streets of Instagram - both from NUK. I discovered that most of my colleagues at office had emerged from NUK, and later on, became friends with my colleagues' friends - who were also from NUK. They'd regale me with stories from their college days, I'd hear them while piecing it together with the little I already I knew about. Each tale adding to my repository of information about this college I tried to cut myselff off from.
And so, now I have an uneasy position in the NUK Multiverse. Well versed, but not a part of it. A silly fly on the wall - a character who looked inside from the outside.
