Keep on keeping on
"When the going gets tough, you have to get rough"
- Some person out there probably.
The value of not quitting and staying in the game.
This is pretty much an unfinished thought that I have that's come as a result of what's happened in this month.
Like it's a little past mid-month and I already have had results and achieved that I haven't been able in previous months.
And the weird thing is that I didn't even realize until I came across some analytics and numbers by chance.
Now I don't only know intellectually but also have lived that concept that James Clear talks about.
The one that says that systems are better than goals. (Paraphrasing of course)
Goals are something you set and then try to achieve and most of the times get fixated in them that don't see around what could be happening.
If you hit the mark and achieved the goal, you become all happy and excited and such.
If you don't then you either feel sad or "down" or choose to see it as a learning opportunity and reassess the goal. (And likely set a smaller one next time).
That's all well and done. But...
When you focus instead on systems, rather than goals, you pay attention at the repeated activities that you think are going to get you to the desired goal.
But you forget about the whole as a whole because you're more focused on getting the system right and the activities done.
If you keep showing up every day, doing the activities, and moving one step at a time.
You'll probably be too busy to realize that the original you set, you already achieved and now you're moving even further to greater things.
It's only in retrospect that you "see" that.
