Airport Arrivals
Airport Arrival Terminals are a places filled with joy. Families and friends reconnecting, giving each other a warm hug and a kiss. Some, weirdly enough, spraying hand sanitizers as soon as possible. People stand waiting behind a railing waiting to get a glimpse of their loved ones, and as soon as they see them, their faces light up.
You also have the guys holding up placards, waiting for their client to arrive. They are much less animated. I've been to a few airports and based on how touristy the place is, the proportions of the 2 sets of kinds vary.
Over the years, I think we've been doing fewer airport pickups. Uber and the increased frequency of travel have made the whole experience less novel. But I do remember the excitement I had as a kid when I was going to pick someone from the airport, especially at night.
As an arriving passenger, having someone waiting, waving rapidly as soon as they see you, is a nice fuzzy feeling.
We should do more of airport pickups. It's not very practical but who cares.
