Coexisting binaries
Hateful admiration. Painful pleasure. Relaxing chaos.
One of the things I want out of life is to experience the full range of emotions. Listening to music takes me close.
Happiness, sadness, anger, affection, hate, angst are some of the few I've identified that I've felt, but as humans we are capable of so much more complexity in what we feel.
Coexisting binaries is my name for when I feel diametrically opposite emotions. It can apply to situations too. Being happy for someone while you are in pain. Feeling exhausted by the very thing that energizes someone else.
Compartmentalizing and coexisting thoughts, feelings and emotions.
Leaning into it helps make sense of the dissonance. To accept that they can coexist instead of being mutually exclusive and allowing room for only one.
It's my way of telling my brain it's okay to feel all that it feels. In tandem. So that it doesn't explode.
