Death and Afterlife
Lately I've been thinking a lot about death.
I don't find myself subscribing to the notion of heaven/hell or nothingness. They seem like two ends of a spectrum.
Believing in heaven/hell implies that there is something to work for, and toward. They act like an inbuilt conscience system.
Believing in nothingness is something my heart refuses to do.
As a nhilist, I fail to believe that there's a reward, a metaphorical light at the end of a tunnel. I think our existence is an accident; a blip. I don't believe we as a species are special enough to have a special place to go once we die.
What I do believe is that we are made up of beings/matter that came before us. We will go on to be a part of someone/something else after we die. No part of us truly ceases to exist.
We are a combination of many things (for lack of a better word) and we will dismantle and recombine with new things. In a way, we all carry a little bit of each other in life and in death. We are one with the universe, we are both a fraction of it, and it - a fraction of us.
I find it romantic. You might find it morbid.
Opinions are my own. What do you think?
