Two years to make a thought
As much as it hurt a bit when I wrote the title for this piece a month and half ago, I also realise it sometimes takes time to form a thesis or coherent set of thoughts to say I think this is what I was after.
I wrote a Substack articles on social apps 2 Septembers ago. I'd thought of these apps for about 1.5 years at that point to finally have enough to write about it. I had more topic drafts to write but that never happened.
After more hiatus I got back to the same topic towards end of last year. Been thinking about it on and off this year and I think I finally have a systems diagram for a part of the space. There's still huge sub maps to explore.
I used to think of the network part for the longest time. Over the last year I moved to thinking about the what's before it or what's at the core. It's person (a node). What's a person but a bunch of thoughts, words/speech, actions and feelings (very dumbed down ik).
Each person has a network on the other side they want send information to with some rules and logics in between. Do do this there needs to be a few things:
- the person needs to document stuff (acts of reflection, planning, retrospection, prioritising, logging/journaling)
- Network organisation
- Information access system
- Logics, rules, data visualisation/views
I also wondered a lot about what is a social interaction. Before I tell mine, I'd love to ask yours. Atm no one reading these posts. But I shall use parts of this content to write substack later.
I'd love to get into more detail but that's for another day. Somethings take time and it's okay. That's the point of this piece ig.
