My Daily Nicheless Vol. 1 Num. 2
I've been looking forward to this post all day even though I didn't always know what I would write about. My new phone set up is working perfectly. I have begun making everything I need and want to do a "Task" in the "My Tasks" application. I then enter dates, times and recurrences. If timing changes I make the needed adjustments. When the time comes for a Task, I get a notification and complete the "Task." So here I am for my Daily Nicheless.
I revisited an album I used to listen to when it came out in March of 2018, The Decemberists' "I'll Be Your Girl." In particular the song "Sucker's Prayer." The lyric, "I wanna love somebody but I don't know how" just cuts right through me. There is so much there to unwrap. One thing I love about the song is the percussion, which is really true for the entire album. Apparently, the band took steps in a different direction for the album and the results are quite refreshing.
My reading of "Papyrus" continues to enthrall. There are so many little cool tidbits. For example, in medieval libraries books were chained to shelves and desks. Signs were posted with threatening words for potential book thieves telling of curses to be had on those who attempted to steal the precious tomes. In the libraries of present day Oxford books must be requested and then require an appointment to "check out", although no one is allowed to remove them. Books are moved on conveyors underground due to the vast amount of daily additions to the collection. At one point the sheer volume of the volumes became a threat to the city's sewage system. If you are unaware, look in to how the Louvre was acquired by the French.
Peace.
