people
one of the nicest things about being a hospital for over 5 hours is the kind of people you meet. note that when i say 'meet' i don't mean small talk, making new friends type of meeting - i mean instances where you start recognising another's face and when they smile at you, you smile back.
those type of interactions truly make being stuck in a crowded hospital lobby a little better. I don't know the emotional significance or the logical rigor that comes to making me feel better when i see this woman smile, it just does.
it's not always in hospitals where interactions like this come your way - i think happens in any place where you're forced or willingly staying at for a prolonged period of time with exposure to thousands of people.
while the political and social state of the world is likely crumbling, it's moments like these where it makes you feel a sense of hope. you don't know this person, you likely never will - yet there's a sense of solace seeing this person smile at YOU, without reason or doubt.
people are cool like that. be it someone's grandmother or your neighbour, people are cool like that and i appreciate the effort.
smile more to ppl you walk by or have to awkwardly sit next to. makes the journey a little less unnerving. :)
